I don't think one unit deserves a story, but big props to the headline writer.
Here we go. Pixel hardware defects reports go now.....

I don't know what it is about Pixel phones. Nexus phones didn't have as many hardware issues.

That being said best thing to do is test the heck out of your phone for the return period and then hope for the best.

I think in general these reports are overblown but it sucks if you are one of the unlucky ones.

I do like the camera bar design on the P8P better personally and it seems like a more durable design.

Battery life seems worse with Android 15.
I did a complete wipe to get from Beta to stable, but so far I am noticing I can no longer make it through the day

I'm not a Pixel user so I have no skin in the game, but I can definitely say that there have been very few reports of hardware issues and we're 2 months in. Kudos to Google here.

I think the quality has been getting better with each release! However they keep charging more each year so they should be better.

I have no issues here with the battery running easily throughout the whole day and some, I have it paired with the Samsung Ultra watch and that hasn't impacted the battery. Android 15 has been a non-event for me other than I turned on the anti-theft and whatever additional features came with the release and also that has been great with not draining any battery. By far the best Google Pixel ever released and I might just wait on 11 not do the yearly upgrade

Having the same experience too. Normally I could go a full day without needing to plug it in before bed but the last fews days I'd be down to less than 20% after just finishing work with not much screen use. I've been trying to figure out if my usage has changed but I've come to the conclusion it must be Android 15.

Odd. I don't have a Pixel 9 but a P8P and my battery life has improved?

Before I could not get through two days use, generally having about 20% at the end of the day. Now I have about 59%?

So now my phone lasts two days.

Maybe back up your phone and then use Pixel restore tool to wipe and reinstall Android. You could have had a corruption in the update?

The QPR1 Beta 3 that was released yesterday feels great so far.
They adjusted the status bar for the larger camera.

I've nothing against Google and am a daily Android user.

But their phones have always had issues. The Nexus One's rubber bumper came off very quickly. The Nexus 5 camera woudn't autofocus half the time. The Pixel 1 had an unfixed battery drain issue they never even acknowledged. The Pixel 6 didn't have great battery life using the camera for any length of time. The 7a had even worse battery! The 8 Pro was a marvellous phone however.

I now settled on a Nothing 2a which I can push to 3 days if I really want to. Thats worth the sacrifice of a not-as-good camera.

I had Nexus 5 and had no issues. Had two Nexus tablets with no issues. I had an earlier Nexus again no issues.

My first Pixel 3 XL had screen problems. Pixel 4 speaker issues. Didn't have a Pixel again until 7 Pro and although it was a decent phone the Tensor was pretty bad at that time but no hardware issues at all. My current Pixel 8 Pro has had screen issues once and self corrected so fingers crossed......

So my experience changed with Pixels coming from solid Nexus phones but I will admit the camera on the Nexus 5 wasn't good. It was okay but not great for sure. They have come a long way with the cameras.

If you liked the P8P why get a nothing phone? Just curious. Seems like a downgrade from the Pixel 8 Pro?

Didn't know a corruption in the update is possible, but I'm gonna give it a few more days and hope it improves.

Here's my battery life for today. 75%-3% in 11 hours with barely much screen use as I've been working. Watched a downloaded video for 20 mins on the commute, streamed internet radio for a few hours with earphones and checked for messages. The drain is unusually high for little use.

I've had no issues with the 8 Pro or 9 Pro XL. Fantastic phones. The modem on the 8 Pro was a bit subpar, but I've yet to find anything to complain about on the 9 Pro XL or the P9FP.

Tune in radio uninstall it and see how your battery behaved.

That app is using way too much juice for a radio app. It could be doing something it shouldn't. If it is a free app then it may have malvertising in the adds that are doing stuff. Scan your phone but either way uninstall the app and see what happens.

I know it may have been something you used for a long time but just looking at it's usage on battery is way too high. App might just need an update but it is your problem I bet on it!

A corruption in the update is rare but possible. It could be a error in the download more likely. If you had other odd happenings like force closing apps or other behaviors I would think it is an update but after looking at your battery history it is most likely a bad app and nothing else.

I took the P8P back due to its weight. That and an earlier 14 Pro Max were hurting my hand. I had an iPhone 13 for most of the year but wanted a better battery and larger display. The Nothing 2a is a nice light plastic.

That's good to know. Money permitting I'd probably buy a Pixel 9 over any other phone on the market.

This past few weeks I really have barely been on the phone at all, as I have been crazy busy. Yet when I look down around lunch time my phone has already depleted into the the 60% range.

When I first got this phone I was in a really slow point at work so I was spending about 6 or 7 hours a day on it with incredible battery life.
