I think the biggest thing holding me back is that I just don't know if I really need a foldable. S23 Ultra is boss and I don't want more than 1 phone.
Yeah, I certainly don’t need it but as someone who uses both a smart phone and an iPad mini throughout the day, having a single device fit both roles is kind of appealing. I’m also saving $200 from my previous credit and will sell the watch because I’m not gonna use that, I’m gonna keep using my Apple Watch. And I have basically a free mobile line paid for by my employer that’s not being used at the moment. We’ll see if I change my mind over the next month. 🤷‍♂️

I pulled the trigger oh what the hell lol...$700 trade-in for the Flip 4... I want to at least try it... And sell the free watch...
700? That’s not bad at all. And I believe you don’t have the Pixel 7 Pro anymore.. correct?

Well delivery says 6.27 - 7.3 so that's a no-go for me as I'm traveling on 6.29.

Also I didn't expect insurance to be $15 a month. Assumed it was $10 like previously but this is a different level Pixel.

Gives me time to think about it, read the reviews perhaps, etc. If I decide to pull the trigger before I leave it will be via AT&T or Best Buy.

I took the 512GB option figured at this point what's another $120
Yea, I'll likely sell my P7 Pro and possibly either my iPhone 14PM or S23U if I love the Pixel Fold, so I figure I can easily make up the cost. Thinking i'll sell the 14PM and keep my 13PM since the esim is still a PITA, which basically puts me at zero cash out of pocket after the Fold 4 trade in.

Google, like Samsung, usually gives a date range like that and comes in a couple days before. I'm headed to Destin, FL on 7/1 but confident it will come in before that.

Yup I thought was good trade in for Google ... and correct I sold my P7P ...
Well, yeah.. trading in a foldable for another foldable and you no longer have a Pixel phone. So, the Pixel Fold will fill the void of those two outlooks... makes sense.

I don't feel like risking it. I'd rather just walk into a store and get it on 6.27 if I pull the trigger.

Side by side with Z fold

While I like the pixel fold front display the Z fold is certainly a superior design

Superior design? @blairh will have something to say about that ;)

I’m just glad we got some competition in the US... whether someone goes with the Pixel Fold or Fold 4, it brings attention to the foldable market. In result incentivize devs to optimize their apps for tablet UI.

I can’t see any argument to think the pixel fold looks better to be honest. Pixel fold when opened it something you would expect from a first time foldable device being released.

Competition is good though Samsung sure as hell needs more in the main markets.

Pixel fold certainly will beat Z fold for cameras and having a periscope lens though.

Multitasking though Z fold remains king for productivity

I will take the wider aspect ratio and thicker bezels of the GPF over the more squarish and thinner bezels of the Fold series any day of the week. The wider aspect ratio is superior IMO and if it looks less sleek bezel-wise so be it.

Plus that inner camera is going to be much better than the GF4.

I think I have to agree with @blairh. The GF4 obviously has a smaller inner display bezel but I think that's where its advantages end. The bezel on the Pixel Fold actually offers functional benefits over the Fold4--area to grip the edge, room for a vastly better camera. I believe MKBHD covered the functional reason for the bezels was due to the hinge hardware being at the top and bottom of the device rather than behind the display, a design that allows the device to be thinner.

The outer display aspect ratio is far more appealing (this is the complaint I see from most about the GF4 form factor), results in a slightly more squarish internal aspect ratio as well. I also think the landscape orientation when unfolding the device is better (I prefer the crease vertically verses horizontally) but realize that is subjective on my part. I use my iPad Mini far more in landscape than portrait. And bezel withstanding, the inner display on the Pixel Fold has the same diagonal screen size (7.6") but a few more pixels.

All that being said, haven't used a GF4 for more than a few minutes at a time on a few separate occasions so won't tout being any sort of expert. I just find the design of the Pixel Fold hardware more appealing. Let's see if I actually keep my order in and give it a proper test run.

Samsung still without competition, the Fold 4 is the superior design while being basically the same as the 3 and 2.
Also just let me say that buying a foldable without some kind of accidental damage insurance equals to dropping some really expensive tears.
I can't see foldable devices as compelling, there's not enough push for evolution, S23 Ultra just doesn't drop from being the best all around smartphone. Having built-in S-Pen trumps the extra real estate of the foldable screen for me.
Turns out to be quite useful for remote desktop applications as well.

Yep that's why I'm going to stay put. Why pay extra money for a phone that still can't beat the S23 Ultra.

Well, classic Google customer service strikes again. I realized I selected the non-LTE version of the Pixel Watch in my order so went to cancel my initial order and resubmit a new one and the previous store credit of $200 is missing from my account. A chat with Google customer service let me know that it takes 48 hours for the credit to return to my account and that I'll have to follow up on my own if not.

I have a tight window between trips that the current ETA fit in perfectly. If the preorder delivery window moves even a little, I won't home to take delivery for a few weeks. That means no preorder from me and then likely, no future order either as the Pixel Watch promotion will likely be done.

Good job possibly losing one of the few sales you already manage to get Google.

And this is why I don't like the idea of a device is superior to another. It's having a preference on the design choice between Samsung and Google.

The argument of "bezels give a chance to grip" doesn't hold water to me... when it comes to holding the device companies have built false touch features to prevent such a thing especially for tablets. In addition to that, whenever I hold my Fold... having bezels to grip is not something that's needed (imo).

And yeah, the inner display camera is vastly better than Galaxy Fold. But Fold users get UDC technology which allows for a more immersive experience.

I use my iPad far more in landscape, but when it comes to the Fold... I use it more in portrait. I don't think its a one size fit all kind of scenario. Sometimes I like using the Fold in landscape... but it's not a situation where I overwhelming use it one orientation like the iPad.

All that being said, haven't used a GF4 for more than a few minutes at a time on a few separate occasions so won't tout being any sort of expert. I just find the design of the Pixel Fold hardware more appealing. Let's see if I actually keep my order in and give it a proper test run.
Don't get me wrong.. I find the Pixel Hardware appealing as well, but the only advantage I give it over the Fold is the outer display being wider. But again, I don't think one device is superior to another.
