Anyone know if theoretically the cameras of the fold are better than my pixel 6 pro? I hear they might be a bit worse than the 7 pro, which i don't care as much, my standard right now is Pixel 6 pro, so as good as that or better works for me lol

It's all the little things, now listening, recorder, magic eraser, software updates etc. Plus I got the pixel buds, and my house is decked out on Google home as well. I just prefer the software experience on pixel over Samsung, vanilla android is also great
Understandable, so.. its more to do with you prefer stock (and all that comes with Pixel exclusive features) to that of OneUI. I took that response of "not going back to Samsung" as if you had a horrible experience with them.

When it comes to foldables specifically, looking from the outside in. Ive never been a fan of the skinny Z fold design, yikes. The pixel fold looks much wider and I love that. Seems like a better normal phone when not folded. I also like that it's less tall, way better for one handed
Yeah, some people are against the narrow cover display on the Z Fold. Samsung addressed it with the Fold 4 and it has improved, but obviously... there is still more room to improve in that area.

But in terms of one handed use... it's actually useful in that manner. I know people tend to focus on the tall awkward look of the cover display on the Z Fold... but I can easily interact with it one-handed.

Oh no, not horrible. Pixel 6 is my first non Samsung phone lol. Every other phone has been Samsung, never apple. So nothing against them, just prefer this now having experienced it

So me preferring the look, plus the pixel exclusive features, sells me on the Pixel fold

Camera wise, i do feel it's a huge improvement

I had the Fold 2 and 3. I learned to love the slim front display. Super easy to scroll through menus, messages and social media. It’s okay for short replies. But gaming and maps is unusable. Of course it was also more pocketable.

My main concern with the Pixel Fold would be the width of the device. It’s slightly wider than the S23U.

I want some of what you are smoking if you think the iPhone foldable will start at $1600 in two years. Lol. Does that mean the 17PM will be lower price then? Because the Foldable will likely start at 256GB and go up from there.

So, we have a 17PM (256GB) at $1,199 and the iPhone Foldable (256GB) at $1,599 -- basically two iPhone stacked together...

...yeah, Apple isn't starting cheap with their foldable. Maybe the price will go down after 3 versions or so.

Apple doesn't care how Google or Samsung is pricing their foldable because Apple users are willing to pay extra. And we all know neither Google or Samsung is touching Apple when it comes to number of flagships sold.
More like $2,500 lol

I don’t see apple releasing a foldable phone anyway. More like a tablet seems more accurate

The fact the headset will be 3k this year says it all. Even at 2k apple know they will sell more than every other foldable

I ordered a Latercase https://latercase.com/products/google-pixel-fold-thin-case though from my past Samsung Fold experience I went with a Dbrand skin and screen protector on the outside screen ...I never had issues with inside protector.. I ordered a Dbrand skin and will check on which SP

I am curious about what the rom developers are going to come up with on this thing... If Google doesn't lock the bootloader on it that is. I'm guessing most here are not going to care about this type of stuff anymore, but I still got a little bit of interest in it :)

Yep, many forget the extra feature baked in Samsung UI that assist one handed use on thin or wide screens :)

I am a 2 handed guy and on my Fold 4 I mainly use the inner screen and cases whilst adding bulk do make opening much easier

I was all in for rooting since the Droid X days ..rooted a few phones including Nexus and Note 2 ....tbh I would root just so I can change fonts and customize the theming a bit ...one thing that annoys me about Google is they don't have much customization...

Now unsure if I should get this one, makes a point about protecting the hinge

It's chunky from my past experience... But definitely protected

Lot of strong opinions on something that is not even rumored to exist. Lol. Apple may never release a foldable phone. Think about it. Apple has always had separation between iPad and iPhone although it is not much.

Would a foldable iPhone cut into iPad sales?

But if Apple were to release a foldable it would be about $1000 more than the entry Pro Max which is currently $1100. So I would suspect at least $2100 or more. They will price higher than anyone else and if the market doesn't accept it then the next release will be cheaper and when the next release comes out they will lower the price of the older generation under the new one and continue to sell.

With inflation not abating and supply chain issues now seemingly permanent I don't see pricing on an ultra premium device going down. The ultra rich are richer than ever so that will be the market for a foldable phone if Apple ever makes one. Also the higher cost will make less rich people want it all the more as it will be a status symbol.

Now back to the Pixel fold. Pricing seems a little high to be honest but Google has always sold their products at a premium. The current Pixel 7 series and maybe even 6 series are anomalies as Google is trying to gain market share. The Pixel 7 Pro was IMHO the first true flagship Pixel phone. The Pixel 8 series might hold on pricing and also be aggressively marketed but after the hardware is upgraded to truly be similar to an Apple iphone or s24/5 ultra the price will go up.

Also if Google were to price the Pixel fold too low they would have no wiggle room. They can test the market with Pre order and wait and see how sales go in the next couple of months then they can discount it if they need to and will still turn a profit.

I would have liked to see them be as aggressive on pricing for the fold as the 7 Pro but it looks like they took the opposite direction. Again folding phones are a ultra premium product right now and still have some persistent issues to iron out. So I think for people who have the money it might be a good thing?

Personally I would never buy a folding phone with a plastic screen because I am way to OCD over scratches on the screen. Also the idea of I lose it or drop it I will be out 2k or have to pay even more for insurance or fixing is a another nail in the coffin.

2k is my computer budget. I like my phones under $1k and preferably with discounts several hundred less. I think mobile phone pricing is already out of control and these foldable phones are just another way for OEM's to push the retail price as high as possible.

I'm planning on rocking naked and I don't usually get screen protectors for my devices. I've been very good with all my technology. I've only cracked one screen so far and it was a hairline crack on my iPhone 6+.

I would keep an eye out for Spigen for sure and maybe even rhinoshield if they make anything for the PFold.

yep its a fatty, but I always buy it for my foldables. I only use that one at the beach or when I'm on the lake. Otherwise I have always used the thin fit or samsung cases.

That dbrand one looks great. I'm going to give that one a try this go around.

Haven't been keeping up 100% on the thread over the past few days so this may have already been mentioned. Has anyone else noticed the delivery date has changed from delivers 6/27-7/3 to 6/27-6/28? I'll have mine just in time for our beach trip. Gonna have to take extra protection with me 😬

There definitely is a certain comfort knowing that if I decide to stay on Samsung...even after they slashed their trade in values a bit....that I'm still able to comfortably upgrade every year for about $400.

Just noticed the porcelain model ship dates has slipped to early August and 512 GB Obsidian are late July. The 256 GB Obsidian is still available late June/early July.
