Google Pixel Fold

Dope just checked my order and it says 6/27-6/28 which is perf for me since I plan on moving to Seattle the first week of July.

Interesting choice of location :)

Do not know a lot about Seattle other than it rains a lot according to a chap I use to chat to about Boston Whalers, when I had one :)

I have to VC Houston quite often and that's a pain timewise from Thailand
 
Curious to see what people think of it. An appealing form factor & being thin/symmetrical when folded has piqued my interest. Though, the need to force it flat when opening is a bit of a hindrance? Hopefully not for the early adopters.

I visited Seattle for a week quite a few years ago to see a friend from highschool for their birthday and I really loved it.

Haha I bet one of my colleagues lived in Spain during our training and I'm sure that had to be rough. LOL.

I decided to hold off.

Mostly because I am out of town until 6/29, and I don't want them sending me the phone earlier.

Probably best to let the dust settle on reviews first as well.

With the Fold 5 being a minor spec bump, I will be getting one eventually, but I can wait.

Really wish they were out now so I could have a pixel camera on vacation, vs the trash fold 4 camera.

I personally wouldn't characterize the Fold 4 camera trash, but to each their own.

This is the 1st time Samsung updated the camera technology in the Fold series.... from 12MP to 48MP after 2 (Fold 2 & 3) generations of no improvements.

And it has similar camera technology (main) that's in the Pixel Fold... whereas Google is praised for their computational photography, but Samsung does well with giving users more control in their camera app.

I’ve actually found it to be quite good! I still think Samsung has the best portrait mode.

Samsung cameras are garbage for moving subjects. Always slow to take a photo ending in a blurry mess.
I am sure you’ve never had that problem, but every Samsung I have owned it has been the same and slow shutter speed is an issue. With a 3 year old dog, it’s useless, unless she’s asleep or stood still.

It can’t match Google and Apple for shutter speed IMO. I also fund Samsung photos too overblown and nothing like the scene colour wise. Each to their own though.

I have a ton of issues with the camera on my fold.4 It has huge autofocus issues, even on stationary subjects, and forget about any moving objects.

Nowhere near as good as 14 pro, pixel 7, or s23 ultra.

Sounds like you have a defective unit I have no such issues with my F4 and as I have posted several time the low light colour of my IP14P is way off and blue

I have tested so call lag blur and most claims false or user error

Samsung's burst mode is twice as fast at ~30fps as IPhone 15fps for capturing moving objects

Cant say about Pixel do not own one and the S23 is newer and should be better

Truthfully? Apple will price this at whatever they wish, they will add a little to give the impression that it is better and more exclusive than it's and why not? Its legion of fans will buy it in their droves, what, because apple waited and got it right. Sad fact is, Google and Samsung's phones will have much better and smoother systems, but the Rgument will go that apples is better, it musy be, it costs a lot more.

Don’t worry about it. I decipher teen texts daily. It’s like they have an entire thought but only can be bothered to express it in 3 words, two of which will be mistyped. And from that I’m expected to know they will be at a friend’s house, but won’t be staying for dinner and they want pizza for dinner. They always want pizza.

Gore-tex is your friend in Seattle, other than that it's one of the coolest places in the states. I would live anywhere on the west coast. I live in the windiest, wettest most hostile place weather wise, on the east coast of Canada..ha ha.

Yeah I’m super stoked to be moving and everyone I’ve told that I’m moving there is like “aren’t you to get sick of the rain?!” I’m like I don’t care get me out of the triple digit heat! Haha
