Anyone here switched from an IPhone PM14 to this phone and can comment on how it is day to day? While boring my iPhone is about as perfect as a tool as one can build.

I'm coming from 13PM and the GPFold is a keeper in my book. It's a compact phone and a compact tablet all in one well built device. There's room for improvement but nothing that outweighs the new form. I've never used Android so that's the biggest lift for me. For all the walled garden ios things, I can always pick up my ipad - I feel those will become less and less as I master Android. The iphone has just become stale to me and I'm tired of watching all the new shiny things from the sideline.

I did and I switched back. The pixel was amazing hardware wise but so many apps are better quality on the iPhone. Android has so many phones and aspect ratios that apps just are not on par with what is offered by apple IMO

I noticed yesterday that  music is stupid on Android Auto. When selecting an Artist it just shuffles the artist it doesn’t show me their albums. Then when I click the AZ button to see my artists it only goes to the letter U even though I just looked in the app and I have artists from A to Z.

Then when I choose album from my library on AA it only lets me choose A-F?! Wtf again even though when I check the app I have albums from A-Z. Absolutely stupid.

It’s such a shame cause the fold is soo sexy.

It might be a fluke but today has been great

Basically I turned off the always on display, and made all the battery intensive apps as Restricted (except things like messages), and here I am at 11pm

Almost any phone can have amazing battery life if you disable all its features. That shouldn’t be a requirement.
Doesn’t look like he did that. Restricting background use and turning off AOD is not really turning off all features. To your main point I agree. That’s an android thing though. You can tweak things to find a balance between performance and battery.

Well, even with always on off, faced up, my battery went from 47% to 32% during the night

Might have to keep it faced down for some reason still, and/or do not disturb and power saving mode :(

I've done some tests on previous Pixel phones and the AOD off didn't help.. I did not get a chance to test the overnight drain last night as I ran the phone pretty much all day from morning till 11:00 p.m. 11:30 in the evening and I had 14% left so I charged... I think restricting some of the apps is a good idea.. kind of the same as Samsung does with their apps in deep sleep when not in use

I asked on Reddit and I'm seeing this

The fact that people are going out of their way to take these steps tells me I'm not alone

Thought it would work in the other longer orientation, it doesnt it, but on this one which is supposed to be for portrait mode on slab phones, it works great
It looks good gets the job done looks like it's easy for you to pocket on the go..

I bought this one from Amazon but it's not as pocket friendly..

Do not lump Samsung in with other Android phones they have done a great job where developers are lagging

The same issues you note are there with larger and more varied screens of Ipads with non optimised apps LOL

But I agree PF is a bit poor on many popular apps, currently :)

I did about 4 hours without touching the phone I put it on DND and it lost 3%. I figured I'd try it while I was working Will do some more testing though later on..
