Just saw this video, has me actually excited! While I still would've preferred something slightly smaller (more like the find n), this thing running stock android has me excited. Will be trading my fold 3 and my s22 to get it.

That ratio I think most of us can agree is spot on for inside and outside use...

I will have trouble choosing between the Pixel Fold and the Z Fold 5. I will have one or the other and was planning to wait until I could compare, the video above has almost changed my mind, I may just get the Pixel Fold from the get go.

So I've given this a lot of thought these past few days. I've decided the sensible thing to do is to make my decision after the GF5 keynote. There is only one thing that would sway me to the GF5, and that would be dust resistance. I'm not expecting that from the GF5, but I want an answer on that front before making my decision.

That will also give me time to read GPF reviews, etc. No need to rush this. It's a big purchase/decision.

$1,800, if true, is a mistake by Google. Better to offer it at $1,700 and undercut the GF5.

I'm curious... you planning on trading your iPhone in? Or keep the iPhone while paying full retail, which you could then use the iPhone specifically for the beach.

Not sure yet. If the GF5 is not dust resistant, then I probably will go with the GPF.

At that point I would learn towards selling my iPhone and AWU on Swappa (not trading-in) and applying those funds to the GPF. Then I would simply use one of those waterproof pouches at the beach.

I don't love the idea of having two phones tbh.

I see where you are coming from, but, Google will probably offer a watch or other sweeteners that won't be available when the fold 5 is revealed.

Good point, but I’d like to think during Fold 5 preorders… Google will attempt to match what Samsung do. They will be competing in this foldable industry… it would wise for them to take potential consumers who are interested in the Fold 5.

It’s Pixel for me. The extra bezel will likely result in a better camera and that battery life sounds impressive. I also prefer the bigger (wider) outer display instead of the Fold.

What are we looking at battery-wise? The P7P left me with a little bit to be desired TBH...

If you really want a Pixel Watch then it’s probably worth preordering.

I must admit, I probably will, but I want to see the presentation first. ATM, I have a S23 Ultra and have had many Pixel and Nexus phones, I just love stock Google OS on a phone but and this is a big but, I am loving my 23 Ultra. Aren't phones just superb at the moment?

No longer considering the second beach Android phone as an option. It's GPF or nothing.

I can’t imagine battery life will be very good. Also one thing that’s flying under the radar is Google cut another corner and are only including 23W charging. So, essentially a battery that probably won’t last a full day and no fast charging whatsoever.

Again, this just seems like a hard sell at that price. Hopefully if sales are slow after 3-4 months we are looking at closer to $1500. Even that’s pretty steep for this one given it’s specs. I thought Google had learned from their early Pixel missteps of pricing their mid range device like a premium device since they dropped prices for the Pixel 7 series, but it looks like they’re back to their old ways. I feel like a broken record but I just don’t understand Google cutting corners wherever possible but still trying to charge Apple level prices. Their hardware isn’t to that level.

Disappointed with pricing for sure ...but I guess it tough brining these Fold prices down ...can only hope for good incentives...

Fast charging is a shame. Even fold 5 and flip 5 is said to be same 25w

According to the latest GF5 rumors, seems like dust resistance ain't coming this year.

So at this point it's just a question if I'll get the GPF before I leave or not. The sensible thing to do is to get it when I'm back from Europe. The fun and exciting thing to do is to bring it there. 😄

Curious when the official reviews will drop in relation to the release date.

Typically they are a few days prior to official release date with some limited hands on reviews shortly after announcement. The closer the review embargo date is to the actual release, the less confident the company is in their product.

if you wait you might miss out on any pre-order deals. Will you still be in the return window when you get back from Italy?

No. I'm gone for the entire month of July. I'm leaving at the end of June and back August 1st.

I'm really not concerned about the return window. I have a pretty good idea of what the GPF experience will be like. I've wanted a foldable for years now but never liked the Galaxy Fold series to date.

I won't really be able to make a decision until post-keynote when I can see the carrier deals, Best Buy, Google, etc.

If I had to guess right now, I probably will get the GPF before my trip. Just a question from whom.

Just checked out the OnePlus Pad vid from ZolloTech... I find that it can give us a glimpse of how Pixel OS will look on the inner display, specifically the lock-screen and notification-center.

From the look of it.. it has a two-column layout, which I'm fond of. And the dock is reminiscent of an iPad... whereas the taskbar on my Fold is smaller. I'm hoping Samsung tweaks the taskbar... make it bigger, giving it easier touch targets.

taskbar makes sense. I find this really good on my fold 4.

Be interesting what google will do trade in wise.

Interesting... you like the taskbar as is on the Fold series?

Looks awesome.

But the cover display was never in question... that's the main selling point tbh. I'm curious where are the images of the inner screen? That's where the criticism comes from in regards to the bezels...

Both screens are selling points.

I’m sure we will see the inner screen in official photos very soon.

Well, yeah.. for you. Cause you looking at from the perspective of unfolding in landscape ratio (whereas I think that’s more of preference).. however, not sure how you come to the conclusion that bezels are selling points.

Well, there’s images out there already… but nothing as crispy as these photos now.
