I can get a flip phone at that point. It ain't that big of a deal to me.

Me, too. Frankly, I miss my StarTac, and the Razr I had after. Turns out, I quite dislike capacitive screens in general; ironically, I dislike phone calls even more. I recall texting with a dialing pad required a degree of committment. First world problems 😖.I can get a flip phone at that point. It ain't that big of a deal to me.
“While Apple iPhones come with a number of Apple-created apps installed, Apple has never offered a pre-loaded third-party app, which is likely why the company did not accept Pichai's proposal.”
What about YouTube?
these were made by apple in collaboration with google and were exclusive to iOS, the YouTube app had a lot less adsOr Google Maps. For years.
Those apps were made by Apple but they collaborated with Google to make those, just like the native Facebook/Twitter widgets back on iOS 6. There was never an app straight up developed by a third party loaded onto the iPhone.“While Apple iPhones come with a number of Apple-created apps installed, Apple has never offered a pre-loaded third-party app, which is likely why the company did not accept Pichai's proposal.”

You use Google for iOS search?? I don't know anyone else who even has it installed, much less by default.Exactly.
They are also being paid this huge sum to default to the search provider that most people want to use anyway. Given the choice, most people would choose Google over everything else. It's an amazing deal for Apple.

Good point. However, the thrust of the article is stated in the headline, "Google Wanted iPhones to Come Pre-Installed With Google Search App." The Google search engine in iOS is NOT an app. Yet.It's the default in Safari. You don't need to install the Google app.
they probably meant they wanted to preload this app here https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google/id284815942Good point. I'm sure you mean well, but I don't click on ANY links posted in any forums. Ever. Neither should anyone.they probably meant they wanted to preload this app here
Fair enough. If I had to guess, I’m assuming it’s a link to the Google Search app on iOS. Yes, Google has a browser just for searching on iOS, my mom used to use it all the time (why, I never was sure), similar to DuckDuckGo’s app. Why Google would’ve want it preloaded (other than more $), not really sure.I'm sure you mean well, but I don't click on ANY links posted in any forums. Ever. Neither should anyone.

Or you could just navigate to apple.com on your own…I agree you shouldn't blindly click on links without verifying exactly where they are going. If the destination is disguised by URL shorteners, avoid. But if you can see for certain it's going to apple.com, you'll be OK.
