How's the case! Does it add quite a bit of bulk? I'm also concerned about using it with the HyperDrive I got from Kcikstarter.

Do you have to return your original before receiving the replacement? Also, what's the current wait time?
This is starting to sound like a machine on the assembly line is broken and scratching the machines. And also Apple's QA (human or robotic) sucks.
Mine is the clear Iblason case, TBH it just makes my MBP look frosted. I think the frosted black color might've been better looking.
So far the quality appears good, no cracks on the corners. Bear in mind that the extra weight of the top shell lid will make the MacBook close shut faster. Now to decide whether to buy the LG 5K ultrafine display.

I have the scratch too, but it is barely visible if not being looked at from a specific angle and not nearly as bad as those in the pictures. I'll keep mine and just consider it my personal laptop branding 
Question for fellow BTO people: did the replacements you got come from China again or is there some sort of replacement stock Stateside that expedited the exchange?
Straight from China. It's a new order, but you're pushed to the top of the order line. Usually takes 5-7 days to ship out.
Ah, Apple guy on the phone told me it would take six days total from me sending it in today to receiving my replacement, which sounded optimistic. :/
I'm actually waiting for a replacement. Processed on Mon, sent in on Tues. Replacement is scheduled to ship out 5-7 days and deliver around 9-11 of Jan via 2-3 shipping. Hopefully I'll get it sooner since it seems like shipping is getting better.
It would be nice to know what percentage of people get a scratched unit vs non-scratched... although it will be hard, because unaffected customers won't look for this specific problem in the forums.
FWIW I just spoke with a manager at Apple support who told me once they saw that my FedEx return tracking number was active, Apple released my replacement to be built. He said I might get it next week. Fingers crossed.

- this is why i buy default spec now - i can pick up off the shelf rather than wait
- kinda sucks
- will probably be the first of many little scuffs and other marks.
if it really bugs you, replace it. but far more relevant to your usage of the machine is what is inside it. if you don't want to wait, see if you can return and buy one off the shelf in a spec offered.

Just got mine a few days ago but was a few days late opening it up.
Opened it up yesterday and sure enough scratch below speaker grill on left side along with a chip.
Touch ID also isn't working.

Mine has that identical chip below the speaker grill / left side of FN key. Must be a machine / stamp / process issue, some of these scratches are identical. I'm not going through the trouble over that chip noting the next might have it too, my 460 work flawless, no overheating, screen is perfect so reason to hassle over it.
If you want a replacement, speak with a senior advisor, if your looking to speak with customer relations your not getting there. My best advice is ask for express replacement, they'll put a hold on your credit card and ship you the computer first, then you must return the computer or your credit card will get charged. You'll be bumped onto the top 10 of the list. Hope this helps.

Requested a replacement on Dec 26, return completed on Dec 29, & new one is in preparing for shipment since this morning. Hope this one is gonna be all good!
