My Sincere Apologies To All Gamers I May Have Offended

Not all of us use a computer the same way - some are pure work, some are pure play, some are a little of both. It would be wise of you to be more tolerant of a person and hold back on your purile rants.
You're right and I apologize. Please forgive me for not recognizing that.

Eh? You're the on apologizing to that kid? Hell I understand that crazy kind of video work you're doing. I'm only the amazing age of 21!

Unless you're some scary elite player you're not going to get much past your early 20's being a hardcore gamer.

I'm going to get the MacBook Pro C2D to replace my iBook 1GHZ G4. I'm still debating on the matte or glossy screen. I've heard the matte ones are beginning to show up in the stores. Does anyone know if the glossy version is also in the stores as well?

I just picked up my MBP at my local Applestore. They received only 2.16s, and they all have matte screens.

Serious thanks on the battery picture, I was worried they tweaked the battery as I have an extra one I purchased with my MBP that I stupidly threw away the packageing for, was afraid I was going to own a $129 paper weight. Good to see it's the same except country of origin.

interesting to see that Apple switched back to Li-Ion batteries from Li-Polymer...

8-Core Mac Pro Likely Ship In November

Page 19 Post #453 Core 2 Quad coming out on Nov 14!!

http://digg.com/tech_news/Core_2_Quad_Launches_November_2nd_Will_Be_Available_On_The_14th

Check it out

Man, now I'm having second thoughts on whether I should buy the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros right now?
Maybe MWSF we'll be seeing some nice Core 2 Quads in iMacs, MBPs, MacPros. And then maybe Core 2 Duos for MacBooks and minis???

This is a real dilemma....
That's Kentsfield - a 4 core Conroe not Clovertown. So far Apple does not use any Conroe class processors in anything they sell. Dual Quad Clovertown Mac Pros ship in November (I believe).

Have you joined this 8-core Mac Pros In November thread yet?

If mobility is not key to your lifestyle and you drive a Multi-Threaded Workload, this is what you definitely want. I plan on buying the Spring '07 4GB capable MBP with Leopard onboard after spending all winter with my 8-core MP. :)

There will not be more than 2 cores in any mobile Mac for several more years.

Vyper for 17"

I just ordered the Vyper XL2 for my 17". It looks like a really good sleve to use inside my wheeled computer bags. And I ordered a Merlin XU870 to use with the Cingular HSDPA network. Now if it all just comes in before my next trip on the 13th!

I noticed your 3DMARK is not set at 1440x900 native res. Any reason why?

Most people report their 3DMark results at the resolutions that he ran his tests at.

EDIT: I'm going to guess they're the 3dMark default test settings.

I'm 29 and I still game. I know a LOT of people in their 40s that are avid gamers.

We Had A Post Saying It's Back To 135º Randfee

randfee said:
Page 19 Post 455 can anyone please verify or disprove if the new MBP has a max opening angle (the display) of 135° again like the good old Powerbook?

The Core Duo MBPs had only 120° which was a bit annoying.

Please go and compare or measure, this article claims it's 135° again!

135º has already been reported by a new owner.

zadillo: make your decision yet? Going to get a glossy 2.16?

I'm waiting for the 2.33 glossy. Figure I should get the machine that will last me the longest and not have any tradeoffs. So frustrating when I had that 2.33 matte in my hands...

Well, when I got to Tyson's at 7 PM, they had sold out of everything, so I didn't have to make a choice yet. They did say they expect more in tomorrow, but couldn't say exactly when, so I'll probably give them a call to check it out.

I have to say, I had been leaning towards the glossy (especially after my experience with the MacBook, and finding the glossy to be quite fine, even working in front of a window or with fluorescent lights).

But while I was at the store, I decided to spend more time looking at the glossy and non-glossy 15" MBP's side-by-side..... ran some slideshows, videos, etc. on both. Honestly, I think they are both excellent screens really. I will say that the colors did seem a bit more vibrant on the glossy one, but I didn't find the matte to be washed out or anything.

I think I'd probably go with the glossy if given a choice between the two, but if only matte was available, I wouldn't regret it at all. I thought that photos and videos still looked quite excellent on it, frankly.

I got mine last night from the Apple Store in Toronto

2.16 MBP C2D, 120G, 2Gigs Ram, Matte

Heating - definately cooler than my previous 1.83 MBP
Battery - Seems stronger, but I have only done the calibration, I was never really that thrilled with my preivous comps performance
Noise - Gone, nothing, that is very very nice
HD Bay - Not sure where to see this, but I'm sure its been answered by now
HD: FUJITSU MHW2120BH:
CPU underclocked, how do I tell?

Overall, I notice a difference right away (and I did a fresh install of my previous MBP to get it ready for sale, so it was fresh for the comparison). Everything is just overall snappier... I love it. Totally worth the net $300 I paid for it (after Edu. disc and the $ I got for my old one).

Will you be able to get a chance to install Windows using BootCamp? If so, it would be great if you could run 3DMark05.... I'm really curious to see how the 2.16 GHz MBP performs in this area.

I forgot to mention a bit ago that I got my 2.16 GHz model at the Christiana Mall Apple Store in DE. I believe they just received their initial shipment today, and I had put my name on a reserve list a few days ago.

With the lack of sales tax and my student discount, total bill was $1799. After I apply my $1000 laptop allowance from my graduate funding agency, I'm getting this beautiful machine for a cool $799!! It's quite an economical step up from the 1GHz 12" iBook which is currently in the process of file migration.

Thanks for coming through, Apple!
