No but I browsed a little with the machine at about waist level and it seemed fine. Got a little glare off the overhead lights (glossy screen) but it wasn't bad.

anyone know what is a good method for cleaning a matte screen? I don't want to end up scratching it or anything...

Do they stock this at retail stores?
Yes, it's in all the Apple Stores.

I'll miss the full tilt back when I get my MBP. It is actually very useful to tilt it much further back sometimes, if you are working on the couch or on a chair
It tilts a full 135º like in the good old days now Steve.
Is that the maximum angle? If so, that's rather pathetic.
Not at all. That's fantastic 135º Bill. Never did open further ever.

bcavanau You The Man! Thanks For All The Great Opening Angle & Vent Pics

Hey guys..

I just uploaded a side pic for your measument pleasure, as well as a couple shots of the rear vents...including one close enough to see some components inside..

http://lartren.com

Once again, glad to help.
You're the best. I love how huge those vents are. Man these Late '06 MacBook Pros are NEVER going to get hot. What a huge design improvement. Makes all previous Mobile Macs majorly obsolete.

If I was a Rev A owner, I would be so upset right now - especially those who gave up waiting in the last month or so.

Well those users can upgrade to Rev B cooling through the use of a file and sandpaper! :D

Garden Knowm Late Comer Needs Link To Why 17" And Not 15"

Post#1157 I am doing my research.. I am eager and enthusiastic to hear peoples reasons for purchasing a 15 inch over a 17 inch.. just because the conversation is not titilating for you, does not give you reason to throw tan bark at the other kids.. now take afreaking time out... :)

love
It's all on post #1133.

bcavanau, would it be possible to post a picture your new 15-inch MBP C2D with the lid closed, head-on of the profile? I'm curious if the new MBPs have the lid-warping issues as before.

glossy or matte screen?

After seeing my brother have a mac for a while, I decided I wanted to make the switch too but was waiting for this update to come out. So at last, I just ordered my first mac. Estimated delivery is 11/21/06. Feels like so far away. :( But eh, time flies.

Umm, I'm having second thoughts about the 200 gb drive after reading that review. I think I'm going to cancel it and change it to the 160 gb. Opinions?

How I Did The Math For 36.1% Larger 17" Screen

Let's look at some numbers. ...the 17" screen is about 22% larger in area than the 15.4".
17" Screen is 36.1% Larger not 22%.
Where are you getting that number from? If the screens are the same aspect ratio, which they are, and one is 17" diagonal and the other 15.4", then the areas are related by 17^2 / 15.4^2 = ~1.22. Or am I missing something?

The 17 does have 36% more pixels than the 15.4. This implies either a higher dpi, or that the 17 is actually a bit larger. To get the area ratio you quote, though, the 17 would have to have a 17.8" diagonal, which I am pretty sure it does not.

However, if it were 33.7% bigger, that would change my previous calcluations, so that the screen would only have to draw 40% of the power for a 15 to last as long on one battery as a 17. Still probably higher than the maximum fraction the screen can draw.
I'm sorry. It's even bigger than 33.7% - It's 36.1% bigger.

17" - 1680 x 1050 = 1,764,000 pixels
- 15" - 1440 x 900 = 1,296,000 pixels
+ 468,000 more pixels on the 17" screen

468,000/1,296,000 = 36.1% Bigger

15" - 1,296,000 x = 17" - 1,764,000 so

x = 1,764,000/1,296,000 = 1.361 or 36.1% Bigger.

Not quite. The screen is 22% larger. The resolution is 36.1% higher.

pixel-wise 36% larger, but area-wise 22% larger
