So has mine and now the estimated delivery date is Nov. 2nd which is a lot more than the 2 day service I paid for.

2 day service normally refers to 2 business days. October 28th and 29th are on a weekend, and are not counted.

Now, if shipping takes more than 2 business days, and you paid for that, that is something to complain about.

I Think Apple Ships Everyone The Same Speed, Even If You Don't Pay For It

Phone Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE, complain and they will refund your fast shipping charge without slowing it down. I believe Apple actually ships everyone the same speed wiether you pay for faster or not. It's a profit scam.

Do what Multimedia suggested. I did it and the Apple guy acknowledged that it would probally be delivered the same no matter what. Get your money back, it won't change the delivery time.

Oh my... that is very disturbing. :( When mine shipped over the weekend, I got an email from Apple saying my new delivery date was Nov. 1st. Which was great, because I'm leaving the country for 3 weeks on the 2nd.

But I just checked FedEx tracking, and my expected delivery is now 12:00 pm on the 2nd.

... what day exactly do you count from when it ships on a non-business day?

zadillo: your turn to call the stores. I'm stuck in conference calls and am dying to know if tysons (or any store within 2hours of driving distance) had any glossy 2.33s come in stock.

160GB Drive in 15" CTO is a Hitachi

No. That's right. No one has reported receiving one yet. That was then. They may be lighter now. :)

I just received my CTO 15" this morning, with the HD upgraded to the 160GB @ 5400rpm. The drive is a Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00, revision SB4AC7CP. Thought you all might want to know.

My MacBook Pro, 15-inch, 2.33GHz has just been delivered! One quick question, the power transformer is bigger than the one on my MacBook. I was hoping to leave one power cord at work and have one at home. Can anyone inform me if they are compatable?

The information I got from Apple on this subject was that it is possible but the MacBook adapter (60W) doesn't provide enough power to charge the battery of the MacBook Pro (85W). I ordered a second MagSafe with my 17" order but the order was screwed up and one of the aspects that was screwed up was that the Customer Service agent selected the MacBook one instead - this cock-up was detected by the next agent that I spoke to when checking the order.

Quick question....

My order is not shipped yet, and I don't see anywhere on my order the "country kit". Could I specify (maybe give a call?) a country kit different that the country that I am in?
Thanks.

Welcome to my world. I'm trying to get a 17" MacBook Pro with a full UK specification and the 200GB hard drive delivered in Belgium and this is apparently causing enormous problems. While the Customer Service agents say that this request can be satisfied (and I have successfully purchased English software through the Apple Store for delivery in Belgium in the past) it seems to be causing problems this time as I keep ending up with an order showing a Belgian/Dutch keyboard and Finnish country kit. By virtue of the fact that the current Country Kit is non-Belgian for a Belgian delivery I'd say that getting a different Country Kit is possible but actually controlling the one that you'll receive seems to be more problematic...

I'm waiting on a call from Apple for tomorrow now to confirm that this debacle has been resolved but now that it looks like I'll be in the UK on Monday I am now contemplating trying to buy one off-the-shelf from either the Apple Store in Regent Street or the Birmingham Bull Ring, sans the 200GB drive. I've already called the Regent Street store who was hopeful of units by Sunday but they wouldn't offer to reserve one even for someone coming through from Belgium for it . If push comes to shove I'll have to ask my sister to buy it for me since she works near Oxford Street.

I thought I had it bad, but man does that ever suck. Good luck, we'll be rootin for ya.

if you sit a 17" on top of a 15" there is very little difference in size

15-inch MacBook Pro
Height: 2.59 cm (1.0 inch)
Width: 35.7 cm (14.1 inches)
Depth: 24.3 cm (9.6 inches)

17-inch MacBook Pro
Height: 2.59 cm (1.0 inch)
Width: 39.2 cm (15.4 inches)
Depth: 26.5 cm (10.4 inches)

17" vs 15" = Width 1.3inches & Depth 0.8inches

I think that with the stated issue being carrying a computer in a pack on deployment the physical dimensions are only part of it. The extra weight is also an issue. For me that is not an issue since I use a wheeled bag when traveling (and have a 17 on order).

Can people please stop trying to convince the rest of the world that their view is correct when this is clearly a matter of need and personal preference.

No kidding. I've been waiting about a year for this update and it's all going horribly Pete Tong. That said, I've finally managed to get through to the Bullring store who, while they can't guarantee that they'll have any 17" models on Monday, will at least give me a call if they do and it sounds like they would hold one back for a guaranteed purchase from a weary traveller.

At the moment it seems to be either or see what Apple will send me on the 20th November. Over the Christmas period I will be back in the UK and in a position (quite literally) to visit every single Apple Store in the country for what I want due to the position of friends/family and ferry ports. I just hope it doesn't come to this...

I don't think that running a MBP with a MB power supply is a good idea. You might do damage to components that want the power only the power supply for its unit can provide. This damage would be subtle and not perceptible until over time parts fail due to not enough wattage having been flowing through them.

I understand your concern, and would aggree, but i did talk to a rep he said you can power with either magsafe powersupply one just wouldnt charge as fast.

Call Fed-Ex And Ask Them To Hold It For Pick-Up At The Local Office

Phone Fed-Ex and tell them you want to pick up the package at the local dispatch office and they will hold it for you instead of putting it on the truck. That way you can get it first thing Thursday Morning just before you leave or on the way out.

Call them right now. If you wait too long they won't have time to keep it from roaming in a truck all day. That goes for anyone else who doesn't want to wait all day for a delivery.

That's a great idea! Thank you. I don't have to leave until noon, so hopefully I would have time to transfer everything from my G4 PowerBook before I leave if I get the MBP bright and early.

If it's FedEX, they wont allow you to call them to leave it at the pick up center until they've attempted a first delivery. I haven't read all the threads but if they're already attempted it, i say go for it. But yeah, I just wanted to let you know that thats protocol for FedEX, they have to miss the first attempt for you to modify the way you get it.

MBP Order Details...

I just ordered my first Apple Computer (17" MBP C2D 2.33) and am anxious about delivery. Is it possible to change the Topic of this Thread to "General MB C2D Questions" and open another strictly for order and delivery details?

It's becoming a pain searching this thread for order/delivery details.

Just a suggestion...
