Last question, what if I want to stay on Mojave and not update?(since it's actually supported by Apple on the 5,1)

For Mojave:

The first post is very detailed about the things you'll have to think about before you upgrade.

I doubt such a beast exists, but is there an AMD single slot graphics card with no supplemental power needs that will show boot screens. I mean a total piece of crap card that I can pop in just when I need to see boot screens while troubleshooting. Something like the old GT120 in size, but that will work with current Mac OS.

I'm ruling out Nvidia since Apple is obviously blacklisting them from here on out.

Hello, finally I installed High Sierra (DosDude) on my MP 3,1 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2047 MB and it works. I tried to install WebDriver-387.10.10.10.40.135 from nVidia site, but it says it is not compatible. Why?

I would like to add 1 card in my Mac Pro

AMD Radeon HD 6670 2GB
Performance: xx% RPI. (I don't know how to calculate this)
Power consumption: from PCIE slot only.
Outs: DVI-I + D-SUB + HDMI (I only tested with DVI-D cable - confirm work).
OS version: Works with OSX 10.11.6 (El Capitan), displayed as {HD 6xxx 2048MB}.
Other: reference model occupies 2 slots. PC version only.
Unflashed (PC version): works without Boot Screen.
Flashable or not?: Don't know how to get proper files to flash.

I have only a Mac Pro 1,1 (firmware flashed to 2,1) to try.

Apple OEM is always the best...but to damn expensive.

I've got lines on two RX 460's for about $75 CAD. I can live without a boost screen.

Especially for installing unsupported a bootscreen is very helpful. With the RX460 you will also need those SSE4.2 patches.

If I download Windows 10 on another drive, how would I switch back and forth between MacOs and Win10 if i don't have a bootscreen?

Are you making that card up......?
As far as I can see it is a mobile gpu.

The whole point of this page is to list ‘compatible’ cards, why would you want a non-compatible card.

because I'm a broke ass beggar and don't have the $200 CAD to buy RX 450's or 460's :p

Radeon 520 is an OEM only GPU to be paired with Ryzen systems. it's a weak ass card, scores just shy of 900 points on Passmark (vs UHD 630's 1200 points), but has 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 and is 1000% faster than the x1900 XT and 8800 GT I currently have in my 3.1's.

I ask, cause I have access to Lenovo's parts channel and could possibly score a couple. and morbid curiosity, LoL!

An RX460 purchased second hand in my country is just 50$.

Hello guys, I made pixlas mode on my mac pro, to connect 2 gpus (Titan XP / 1080ti), I managed to make everything work correctly, but when I start the mac it seems that there is a problem with the gpus, it seems that the mac cannot manage the gpus!
The GPU's individually work normally, either via mini 6 + 2sata, or for pixlas mode. But linked together does not work properly. Does anyone know if there is any specific method to fix this?
I changed sloth but it didn't work!

Downgrade the driver to V378.

V387 drivers aren't good for multi GPU.

The Radeon RX 5700 XT was tested it last autumn: https://barefeats.com/cmp-5700-xt-vs-other-gpus.html

hint: This is an opened door for the Mac OS Big Sur.

REPORT: Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6

This card is PC AND MAC compatible by default, no need to flash it.
I bought mine here: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Sapphire/112930120G/

REQUIRE: Catalina 10.15.1 installed on your Mac Pro 5.1 only, with OpenCore or Clover.
*(use OpenCore by default, PART I, no need to follow Part II Advanced Configuration - at your own risks)

Performance: equivalent to the VEGA 64, BUT... no need to flash, and has boot screen

Power Consumption: dual 6 pins to 8 pins, plus dual sata 15pins to 6 pins. *see below for config

Outs: 1 x HDMI, 3 x DisplayPort 1.4

Compatibility: DirectX 12.0, OpenGL 4.6, Metal Supported, feature set macOS GPUFamily2 v1, macOS 10.15.1 Catalina or later required

Other: occupies 2 slots, with Boot Screen

ALERT: Don't go with the MacVidCards version "right now"... they are flashing it - don't know why, though... and their flashed version is not compatible with the latest OS, they announced it on their official site, to keep OSX 10.15.4 ... http://www.macvidcards.com/blog/dont-update-to-10155-with-efi-5700

I have the OWC version of Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6, and even if it's a PCIe 4.0 card, it fits perfectly within the Mac Pro, power and data wise.

IF you have no need for the #3 and #4 Dock slots, use my trick instead of tweaking your Mac Pro with the PIXLAS mod...

Power consumption: 6 + 8 Pins: dual mini 6 pins to 8 pins, PLUS dual SATA to 6 pins. NO PIXLAS mod. This situation is for the MacPro 5.1, because the 7.1 has a different power manager.

- 18AWG Dual Mini 6 Pin to 8 Pin Male PCI-E Power Cord, 8$US at newegg.com
- Dual SATA 15Pin Male M to PCI-e 6 Pin Female F, 9$US at newegg.com, plug them in #3 and #4
- StarTech.com PCIEPOWEXT 8 in. 6 pin PCI Express Power Extension, 10$US at newegg.com to extend the Dual SATA, because it's not long enough..

Oh, btw, I bought that card because my RX 570*(no flash, no boot) was **** with the game RUST... now I see everything in 8k, imagine the beauty!

I have a 10.13.6, if I do a downgrade via terminal, will I have a problem, such as not being recognized?
