I just finished setting my up, I am typing on it right now and I just don’t see it. I did try dark mode with 40%, it’s just not there for me, my screen is perfect. I believe you if you say yours is not. Maybe certain lots from the factory are bad? Take it back and exchange it.

Mine came from Verizon, it’s a Pro 13” 1TB, No Nano Screen.

Uh oh, I’m noticing it too. It’s not completely unpleasant—it looks like an ultrafine film grain—except for the fact that this thing was $1600 and it shouldn’t be there.

Add me to the list of people with an 11 inch M4 Pro with grainy display. Mine's also piss-stained yellow colored with night shift and true tone off. What a dissapointment.

Here's a link to how yellow mine is:

Looks like moire etc from the cam. Trying to photograph the from the iPhone camera does not work well as you get strange patterns.

I see this as well, but just barely. It’s more clear in motion that it is not camera moire, but a static grain pattern on the display itself. I can’t see it during normal unless I get uncomfortably close to the screen.

Would be interesting to see a review that performs comparison of different panels to try and ID the LG vs Samsung panel and document the differences.

View attachment 2378784 I didn’t noticed it until I read this post 🙄. I got the 11 Pro. Took these 3 pictures using the same format as the post before. Used the 0.5x 1x and 5x lens to compare and contrast.
But is barely noticeable to the naked eye, I even tried really harder to see it. Again, I noticed it because I like to visit MR and follow posts about new products and noticed this topic with this “problem”. Maybe is the way is meant to be.

#graingate

I guess good news if #bendgate doesn't show up. But bad news as no way to avoid without multiple purchases.

I have an 11” M4 and can’t see this at all. Maybe there are some issues with some Production batches of the screens. Wasn’t there a report that the 11” was going to be in shorter supply because of issues?

“As per well-known analyst Ross Young (via 9to5Mac), production of the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro "looks to be behind" the 12.9-inch OLED iPad Pro, because of issues in the supply chain. Apparently it's only Samsung making panels for the smaller tablet at the moment, with LG expected to start helping out in the not-too-distant future.”

And here: https://www.techradar.com/tablets/i...o-2024-might-be-hard-to-get-hold-of-at-launch

Samsung – which is reportedly building screens for the 11-inch model – has faced “technical challenges”, and continues to do so, likely leading to limited availability of this model at launch.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2024’s screen is said to be built by LG, which apparently isn’t facing the same difficulties, so supplies of that tablet should be far less constrained.”

As has been said before the grainy grays are common with OLED panels. TVs have it, the Nintendo Switch had the same thing happen when the OLED version came out and there was similar drama.

If it bothers you, return it and keep trying until you get one you can live with.

It's there for me on 13'' - easily noticeable in Settings left menu items list if you literally stick your nose to your screen. Poor eyesight + normal distance from eyes usage mitigate the problem for me :)
