Yes, the utility is for Nvidia Kepler cards...

Just checked the EVGA site for the GTX680 4GB Classified....

They say:

1111MHz Base Clock
1176MHz Boost Clock
3004MHz Memory Clock (1/2 effective speed) Gaming desktop

After scouring the web I located a modded rom file for the 4GB version of the card. It’s obviously the rom from the 2GB Mac card, same one that’s been posted here on Mac Rumors. Version number and date are identical. However it’s been modified to work with the 4GB card. So I flashed my cards, one at a time to be safe, and low and behold I have my beautiful EFI boot screens back. Didn’t really know how much I missed them but so glad to have them back.

hello guys, i've a evga gtx 680 4go version card, and it works well on pc, tech power identify correctly its version, but i've tried on my pc to flash it by two of your version: normal and zotac version, the flash proceed well done, and the pc restart with new rom without problem, but when i switch it to my mac pro 5.1 (2009), the mac start but the screen remains black, nothing even at the end of start up, anyone who can tell what should i do please?

Has anyone here with Mac ROM'ed GTX 680 cards tried to install the nvidia Linux drivers? On a MacPro 3,1 with a 02G-P4-2684-KR Superclocked with optional backplate card flashed to the official Mac ROMs, I find that the nvidia 390/396 linux drivers produce a black screen under DVI or HDMI connections. Similarly, while attempting a manual nvidia driver installation from a kernel with the nouveau driver blacklisted prior to installing a nvidia driver produced the same video failures in the default vesa driver. I am rather surprised that no one has tested the stock linux vesa driver against this combination.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question (I’ve been through the forums but couldn’t find an answer)

Has anyone successfully managed to flash a Palit gtx 680 4gb jetstrem card? I’ve tried florians rom which ended up with jumbled display from boot screens and in sierra + windows 10... put back original rom and all working.

Appreciate any help :) thank you
Hi Penguin322,

Did you manage to solve the issue with your Palit JetStream GTX 680 4GB?
I'm using the same card so would like to know if you're able to solve the problem.

Thanks

there are two efi rom in this topic, both i've tried, either palit or other brands, what you need is to flash one time, if it dosent work, flash with another one rom, should be ok, btw you may prepare two cards in case your palit dont start correctly and cant finish reflash by itself, dont worry the pc system will always recognize the card to flash second time, your card will not be dead because of these roms

Hi parisinvest,
Thank you for your reply, to my knowledge there are 3 version of 4GB GTX 680 ROM mentioned in this topic:
1. Original 4GB ROM from Dr.Stealth
2. Fl0ran
3. Zotac

But non mentioned specific for Palit, did I miss something?

Thanks

Another board confirmed to be working when flashed: Palit Jetstream GTX 680 4GB.

I've flashed it with ROM from fl0ran.

- No graphic anomaly detected.
- I'm only using the HDMI right now.
- no tweak was done (as Palit JetStream original clock (core + memory) are the same with the Mac EFI rom from fl0ran)

Cheers

Hi all,
I've got an Asus GTX 680 4GB that I flashed with the rom from the first post.

It seemed to work fine with one of my older monitors connected with a DVI cable, boot screen was visible.

Now I've attached a new 4K monitor with a DisplayPort cable. Boot screen is gone, AND sometimes I need to disconnect and reconnect the DisplayPort cable to get a picture to display after starting the machine.

Are these sorts of issues to be expected with cards other than the EVGA? Are there any newer Roms which may help?

I'm thinking I'll flash it back to the way it was and go without boot screens if it means I'll no longer need to disconnect and reconnect the DisplayPort cable on startup.
Thanks!

Ok I've done a bit of reading and learned that the boot screen shouldn't work with DP 1.2. That's ok, so the main issue I've got is needing to disconnect and reconnect the DP cable after booting to get a picture.

I'll reset PRAM and do some other troubleshooting and let you know how I get on. I think I'll probably re-flash the card back to the factory rom. If anyone has any tips I'd appreciate it.

No issue, just fact. It's known that flashed Kepler cards have no boot screen in 4K/60 Hz, only via HDMI in 4K/30 Hz.

Flashed Maxwell and Pascal (and Turing) cards indeed have boot screen in 4K/60 Hz.

Doesn't matter if DP 1.2 or DP 1.4 is used.

You'll see in my second post above that I realise that.

I'd like to solve the problem I'm having with needing to disconnect and reconnect the DP cable upon every startup. Is this a known issue on a 4k display?

My 4K monitor (ASUS PB 279Q, single stream transport) has always DP 1.2 enabled. No issues, I just have to turn on the monitor before I turn on the Mac. Otherwise it will hang.

I'd read about needing to start the machine with the monitor off, but not about needing to turn on the monitor first. Do you know where I could read about these sorts of issues with DP1.2?

My monitor goes into standby after 4 seconds if no signal is detected, that might have something to do with it. In my case the machine doesn't hang though, it loads into MacOS just with a black screen. Pulling the cable then reconnecting sorts it.

Hi all

Wondering if this zotac 4gb would also work on nvidia geforce gtx 980?

Need only to have bootscreen and able to switch win 7 and el capitan.

Gaming in win 7 with higher fps because of better basis and boost mhz.

Thats all I am hoping to get. I could also give it a try and if it does not work, I can upload original 980 rom without any circumstances. Is that correct?

I got above 60 fps in battlefield 1 with geforce gtx 980 4gb in bootcamp/win 7, but no bootscreen.
On the other hand with zotac 680 4gb had bootscreen but around 48-55 fps both in ultra video settings.

Cinebench gave me also 61 fps with gtx 980 and 55 fps with gtx 680 both 4gb.

You can switch to win and mac using alt key option, but dont use boot camp, you will lost a lot of time to know it just doesn't work with.

yes exactely, btw if you can try florian rom first, my zotac 680 doesn't work with zotac efi rom.
Hmmm win7 without bootcamp?! I have allready bootcamp on my win7 and I would need to set up a complete new system. It would be also a challenge to have osx on one ssd and other ssd with win7. Wondering how osx will recognize win7 with alt-key if there is no bootcamp? Why would bootcamp not recognize gtx 980 with rom from 680? Do you have some experience on that?

It's not probleme of mac os or windows, it's bootcamp has probleme, if you use alt option, your win partition will be take as a mac os hdd icon on start up menu to choose, and you can choose which os you want to start by defaut in mac os paramettres, but if you use bootcamp, boot camp will take over the boot and leave you a long wait at beginning, and finally mess up the systeme and start up when you have a problem in windows, it's years experience if repair shop to tell you this advice.

Hi, I just picked up a Zotac GTX 680 4gb that was I going to flash. Someone on here told me that this card would only utilize 2GB after being flashed. Is that true? Thanks your time.

someone said that because he has never flashed himself, or he flashed with wrong rom, if you flash with three rom for 4g model, you will have 4g but the only difference is on upper dvi, so try the florian version first, and if it works dont try second one, if doesn't work try the stealth version, and zotac at last, personnally i've never had zotac version worked on my 4g cards, it did the flash, but gave me nothing on screen, but i can reflash it back on pc, good luck, and happy new year 2019!
