What version of itunes are you using? others seem to be having the same problem if they're running itunes 7.5 however if you try the process using itunes 7.4 it will likely work

1.1.2 Iphones AppSnapp Issues -
In regards to 1.1.2 (02) phones some folks seam to be having some trouble get the AppSnapp to work in jailbreak so here is a quick fix.
Excuse me if this has been posted !! But just as so many people seam to be stuck here i will try my best to explain in simple words how to get you over this issue.
It is not related to the web server at jailbreak so put that out of your head for now.....
The problem is with the iphone and itunes 7.5.
After visiting http://jailbreakme.com in the iphone you scroll down and tap on appsnapp. Phone will return to activation screen. The iPhone should automatically restart after almost a minute. When the phone starts again, it should no longer say Slide to emergency, but rather Slide to Unlock. This means it was successful!.....If all is good with the above carry on and do the rest of the jailbreak.
If the above dint happen to your iphone you need to do this. Connect your iphone to P.C with USB cable if not all ready connected. Re boot windows. Open Itunes, Itunes should be showing you a "lets activate now" here is the problem. All you need to do is click cancel. If I recall correctly it will ask you to confirm this just click "yes".
The iPhone should be displaying the activate screen again "Activate iPhone" screen move the slider to the right for emergency calling
Now dial "0" then press the Call button Now you will be able to see the incoming call.
Press the Accept button Now press the Hold button to put the call on hold. The phone will call itself again. This time press the Decline button We now are presented with our contacts menu.
Press to select the contact we added for the jailbreak. Scroll down and do the appsnapp thing on the iphone.
This should sort the problem out.

When I finally was able to start downloading from jailbreakme the status of the download stopped at 52% so I restarted the phone and then I was able to go to the springboard. But I can't continue with the jailbreak because the installer "button" on the springboard didn't show up.
Do I have to restore the phone and do it all over again or what?
Any help on this issue would be awesome.
p.s. I've got iTunes 7.4.2 and the phone was not connected to the computer while I was trying to download from jailbreakme.com
I recommend that you just install the jailbreak again as it froze half way through. I do not think a whole restore is needed in this case.

Jailbreaking basically means that you are by-passing the activation part of the phone, so after jailbreaking the phone, you can use the phone with only the network that you bought the phone with eg. UK is O2 and US is AT&T, you just take out the sim that came with the phone (After you have activated it) and put in another O2 or AT&T simcard
2.No way to unlock an OTB 1.1.2

I guess this is the reason i thought something was wrong getting no service on iphone.
So basically,the sim that came with the iphone will not have signal bars and will display on service.Therfore,to get service on the iphone you have to put an activated pay as you go or contract sim.

This guide shows how to downgrade iPhone 1.1.2 OOT 4.6. If I only downgrade the iPhone to 1.1.1 and then unlock it like a iPhone 1.1.1, will it work ?

I am having some strange problems. When i get to the jailbreak part (the last step basically) It says that my iphone is not connected, but it is. I have tried rebooting both computer and phone, putting phone in different modes, but nothing seems to get the the jailbreak loading. It really blows since it's the last step. Thanks guys.

I still get error #6 after restoring to 1.1.1 fw and my iphone doesn't get out of restore mode. I've been trying to reboot it with jaibreak from conceited and also tried ibrickr.
Nothing... Frustrated... crying...
