Make sure that you have closed iTunes when you try to boot it from recovery mode.

Are you on a PC or Mac?

I'm on a PC with Vista. I tried closing iTunes and also killed iTunes Helper from the task manager.

But I also get error#6; not 1015 like everybody else. ???

Can I confirm that if I have an US 1.12 OTB iPhone I can use the earlier method to jailbreak and then use an O2 chip to activate and use? Not concerned about being able to use other networks, just want to be able to use O2 in place of the ATT chip!

THIS GUIDE IS OUTDATED iNdependence is no longer needed etc...

and the link pointing to the 1.1.1 file has rumored to have the TIFF exploit patched.

Here is the updated Guide for both windows and Mac users, taken directly from conceited software.

You do not use iNdependence in this guide. The guide works fine and the software download is fine as I just tried. So stop being a tosser and dont post links in my guide. Start your own topic.

This guide works fine

Step 13 not rebooting phone

First off thank you Sam for taking the time to create this guide and stay on the fourm to answer questions and help those like myself that seem to have that little hiccup completing the guide.

I have followed the guide line by line literally at least 3 times and I get the same result. Everything seems to run fine except when I get the last and final step (of course).

I run the windows.bat file and it takes quite awhile so I let it run overnight usually and I get confirmation that my phone is jailbroken and it will reboot a couple of times, but it never does reboot. Should I invoke a reboot manually? How long is the average wait time for the phone to reboot?

Thanks for any and all assistance, it is much appreciated.

Well wouldn't you know it as soon as I post this question I tried it one more time and it freakin worked! The only thing I did different this time was I re-booted my PC before I ran windows.bat. I'm not sure if you want to add that to the guide but that appears to have fixed my issue!:D

I'm done. It worked!

The sun shines and I love my jailbroken iPhone!

Somewhere in the Apple website I read a suggestion that when a restore is failing, create a new Windows User and restart the process. That got me restored to my original 1.1.2. The next day I went to work and restarted the process on my Windows XP machine. It worked like a charm the first time through. No more errors #6 or other weird things.

In summary, one thing I would recommend to anyone having problems that are not documented here: create a new windows user and restart the process. It seems that iTunes leaves junk all over the place.

Also, it is true that the jailbreakme program now contains an option to reboot your iPhone from Restore mode. You might as well use the same program for both things: rebooting the phone and jailbreaking.

Happy jailbreaking!

stuck on last step

Im having a problem im stuck on the last step and when i try to open it flashes I have the latest version of Java idk what is happening pls help:confused:

Oy tosser I told you to start your own thread and not post it in mind. Why do you have to be such a nob for.

If it did not reboot itself then yes do a manual reboot on that step.

Im sorry for trying to help people avoid outdated information, and help answer their questions, (in a public forum may I add).

I'll leave now so I don't do anymore damage to your ego...

i've tryed it in two computers with the latest java and the windows bat file still goes on my screen for a split second pls help u can email me @ politronxx@hotmail.com :ppls and thank you:p:apple::confused::(

When you open the file with winrar or any software you are using, make sure you extract all files in the folder to your desktop.
If you try to run it from the explorer without doing this, the windows bat file will open and close within seconds.
Just extract all the file to your desktop and run it from there.

Make sure iTunes is closed, unplug and re-plug the iPhone, open iNdependence and wait a minute :)

Hi Spiderben,

Just Jailbroken my 1.1.2 OTB last night which was also purchased in the USA recently. However jailbreaking does not means unlocking your iPhone to use a non-ATT sim. As there is no unlock currently available for 1.1.2, I am suing a Turbo SIM to allow my USA iPhone to accept a Virgin SIM.

Basically the Turbo SIM is a SIM adapter that fools the iPhone into thinking that the attached SIM is an ATT SIM when it is infact not an ATT SIM card at all.

Hope this clears up your understanding.

Cheers

suncom sim card

HEy,
I tried to put a suncom sim card in my iphone this morning after i finished doing all of your steps. It said that the sim card is not valid. Did i not unlock the phone correctly or does suncom have a different sim card that wont work with the iphone anyways. The sim card looked pretty much the same so idk for sure.
Im using the iphone with my at&t sim card (pre paid) and it works just fine. So
idk if evberything is all right. Does anyone know if the suncom sim cards are different?
Thanks for your help

Can someone help me with the acces to jailbreak.com? please!

Greetings everybody and Sam. Here's my problem:
When I´m at step 12, I try to acces to jailbreak.com from my iphone by wiFi, but it keeps saying "safari can not find the server", so I thought it was my connection, but it works fine (the wifi) with other webpages. Only one time got acces to it, but it showed me some log in/password field. What can I do? thanks for your help.

I followed the instructions from http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html instead, and I used www.jailbreak.com rather than just jailbreak.com as show in Step 12 in this thread. Have you tried that?
