I don't understand all the fuzz... I just checked OSXHackers.com and I could download the file without any problem. When you click the file, it will take you to a strange page showing an add (GothicSluts or anything, odd stuff...), and after a few seconds on the right-top side of the page a message "skip ad" appears, which you can click and it take you to the Rapidshare site. Click the download button, and you've got it.

Check if you haven't got any ad-blockers running or anything.

I just checked as well, both v3 and v2.2 32/64-bit end at dead links. I'm going to upload it, as people are having loads of problems.

Sorry for posting this one here again, not getting far, if anyone could help... thanks !!!

Hello ! I have an issue here and my setup is a bit.. weird. Looking for advice !

I have a 2006 imac, A1195 and the screen was defective. I swapped the internal LCD to another lcd and it's connected via the mini-dvi back connector.

So, i got no internal lcd, just an external as the imac sees it.

OK, my issue :

I installed MLpostfactor 0.3 over 10.8.4 on a external hard drive (i did this via VMware workstation 9 with a USB drive passed to it, on a windows PC on osx 10.7.5). Every went OK.

Since i have no MAC here, i was at a customer's site and i had access to an iMac 27'' new 2013 version.

I tried booting on the MLPostfactor'ed drive, and i was stuck at the apple logo. Is that normal that it didn't boot on that one ? Tried a few times, no go.

So i'm still stuck, i can't do the install portion on the imac because i ain't got no internal lcd and it won't show the install steps on the external lcd.

Anyone got the imagination to find a trick that i could use to get that thing going, any tips ? Thanks[/QUOTE]

Anyone has an idea to help me on this one ? I've been searching and trying everything i could, not going anywhere, If someone has an idea for me, thanks in advance!!!

Facebook Integration missing in Mail and Contacts

I successfully installed of v.3 and 10.8.4 on Macbook4,1. But somehow Facebook integration is missing in Mail and Contacts Preference Panel. Anyone else have this issue?

I did do a search but nothing specific came up with 10.8.4.

Thanks ahead for you help.

Not planning to apply MLPF v0.3 on that 10.9 installation to get graphics fully supported (I guess you're getting garbled display on wake)? I think that's what Wayne did (maybe he can precise that point) on his X3100 example in post #2709.
https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17416095/

Have myself a few 10.9 models to try and apply MLPF on now (like the wee notebook below ;))...

I tried applying ml postfactor to 10.9 became unboottable
I backed up my install b4 I proceeded
So that is not the solution but he has qe/ci and we don't

Just try re-installing MLPF from the Install drive to the OS X drive. Make sure you tick 10.8.4, and if not, you can try re-installing OS X.

Firstly much thanks to batmanofzurenar for taking the time out to put forth a comprehensive guide. In the interest of making the process as simple as humanly possible however, ALL that needs to be done is simply this:

(PLEASE NOTE: that while I cannot confirm that this method will not work on other unsupported Macs, these instructions refer/have been tested to be FULLY FUNCTIONAL on unsupported Mac Pro models ONLY)

Things you will need:

the "mach_kernel" file ONLY from the "Essential Dp1 V2.zip" acquired/downloaded from here:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/289062-109-mavericks-simple-vanilla-hackintosh-install-guide/

AND Chameleon Wizard Version 4.2.2

Then head over to jabbawok's blog for his guide "How I installed Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion on my 2006 MacPro 1,1" and start from the beginning

http://www.jabbawok.net/?p=47

Once you get to this step:

“Next job is to copy mach_kernel from MacOSInstallESD to the Installer partition.

In terminal navigate to the Installer ESD with: cd /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD then copy mach_kernel to the installer partition with cp mach_kernel /Volumes/Installer/mach_kernel have a quick look in terminal to see that it’s there with: cd /Volumes/Installer/ then ls . You should see it there.”

…omit it as in OS X 10.9, the “mach_kernel” (invisible or otherwise) is no longer located within the “root” of the OS X 10.9 installer.

***INSTEAD unzip the "Essential Dp1 V2.zip", locate the mach_kernel file and simply Drag and Drop it into the root of your OS X 10.9 Mavericks Installer image.

Proceed with jabbawok's guide and while following EVERY STEP complete it in its entirety.

ONCE COMPLETED YOUR NOT QUITE DONE SO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REBOOT TO YOUR INSTALLER JUST YET !!!

Install and Open Chameleon Wizard Version 4.2.2

Click on the 1st icon located in the upper left hand corner of the .app entitled "Install"

Then click on the middle tab entitled "Download"

Next make certain that "2246" is selected in "Chameleon revision"

Then click/select the "Update" radio button and also check the square box field underneath entitled "Update more boot loader files etc."

Lastly, within the "Target partition" field, scroll through the available disk images and locate the "BOOT" partition you created in the very first portion of jabbawok's guide and installed Chameleon-2.1svn-r1921 on.

Click the "Install" tab located on the very bottom right hand corner and complete the installation process.

Basically what you are doing here if it is not so obvious is updating the Chameleon version from 2.1svn-r1921 to v2.2 svn r2246 on your “BOOT” partition as v21_r1921 no longer works for booting OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Within my first attempt at this process, I instead downloaded the Chameleon v2.2 svn r2246 .app and installed it from scratch rather then updating it through Chameleon Wizard. For some reason the only way I was able to get a fully functional working OS X 10.9 Mavericks OS system is by this method (updating your "BOOT" partition from 2.1svn-r1921 to v2.2 svn r2246 via Chameleon Wizard).

***LAST STEP

Again using Chameleon Wizard, click on the middle icon entitled "SMBios". Next click on "Open" and within the "Extra" folder you placed inside your "BOOT" partition while following jabbawok's 10.8 guide, find the smbios.plist. Then select "Edit". In the field entitled "Premade SMBoises", scroll through the various Mac models, find and select the "Mac Pro (3,1) - LGA775" profile in the list. My findings indicated that this seemed to be the only profile that did not cause a kernel panic upon start up. Hypothetically you supposed to be able to then "Save" this new updated populated information within the smbios.plist though I could not get that to work. So I instead opened the smbios.plist with Text Edit .app and edited manually with the Chameleon Wizard Mac Pro 3,1 auto populated information myself. Once the new info is entered save the smbios.plist file back in your "Extra" folder on your "BOOT" partition and THATS IT !!! Enjoy your OS X 10.9 Mavericks OS 64 bit system on your Mac Pro !

Hope this is helpful to folks.

Hey the only addition I want to share to this is with my install I couldn't use jabbawoks os install.mpkg I had to fire up my old Xcode install on snow leopard and and modify the mavericks os install.mpkg

I also didn't modify the sbios yet as it all working as of now without any additions

just wanted to share this info to everyone else..

64bit older mac pro running mavericks quite nice......Its a shame for the them not supporting these great machines

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait for Wayne to share his method; if he so wishes naturally.

Can you tell us what's the secret installing Mavericks or it's just like ML?
No secret in installing Mavericks, that's pretty standard business. The secret (as it appears) is in getting graphics acceleration for dropped graphics chips like Intel GMA X3100... Because it's either with 64bit kexts (of SL 10.6.2 origin) or with 32bit kernel (and 10.9 DP1 ain't 32bit...).

I see, but the question is exactly that, I saw in the beginning of the thread that you managed to get full acceleration with single user, that was cool, but the problem is that I was searching for a way to do that and I went through a hundreds of web sites and I couldn't get a clean way to do that, I know this shouldn't be the thread for this but it's basically what I need, if I install ML or Mav. and get no video acceleration and I install the video kext intel from Lion that I have here using kext drop, for example, do you think I can get it working, that's the OS I have in my mac right now and I copied all the kext out of it in case I need them, but would also install SL, if necessary to get it's kexts too, can you please tell me the best way to get my video working? Thanks. Like the ML is not 32 and you managed to get it working can I do with Mav. same procedures?

I'm not sure to follow you... If you want ML on a system with unsupported native graphics (GMA950, GMA X3100, nVidia 7300, etc.), just use MLPF as per the well-documented process. This is what this thread is all about...

What is not known is what Wayne did to get graphics support for Intel X3100 on 10.9. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this will be shared any time soon, but other people work on it... ;)

Thing is, I can't seem to run the combo update for 10.8.3 OR 10.8.4 at all. It just tells me that it can't evaluate JavaScript for the package. Do you know what's with the Installer? It's not a corrupt DMG or installer package, as Pacifist loads it with no failure. Restarting didn't help.

I tried searching but there doesn't seem to be an answer. Some say that you can remove ServerVersion.plist to do this but I have no plist files starting with the word "Server" on this partition.

I'm having the same issue. This is on a X1600 2006 17" MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (2.33GHz) w/ 3GB of RAM.

The instructions for MLPostFactor say, for installing combo updates, to go through this process of installing MLPF and then, out of nowhere, "install combo update." How? Where? Which partition?

I Googled & found no help. Anyone here have experience with installing a combo update? I can't access it in the "INSTALL" partition, and I get the javascript error when installing it on the partition that is actually running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I'm trying to get to 10.8.4.

I had the same error trying to install the 10.8.4 update. It says somewhere in the instructions that update is not supported. I downloaded the full 10.8.4 installer app and that seems to be working.

I would advise to stay with your current running system as there should be an 64bit installer for your system soon. (at least MLforALL says so on twitter)
With 64bit anything should work slightly better than on 32bit, as it will be nearly a stock ML installation, which does not require outdated (DP1, beta) files.
I have the exact same specifications as you (but 15") and I'm already running a 64bit ML installation (using an old guide by hackerwayne) and it's running great on a FusionDrive (which won't work on 32bit).

EDIT- Screw it, I'll upload through MEGA (only way to upload big files for free) for a temporary fix (lots of people left hanging!) It'll finish by 6:30 EST, I'll post a link!

That appears to be the 32 bit version. I need the 64 bit version which is supposed to have support for alternate video cards. Does anyone know the status on this?

Once again I tried to download, and again it works.

- go to OSXHACKERS.COM
- click the "Installation" tab at the top
- scroll down to the 2 installers
- click the desired installer
- you'll be taken to a ad-page (probably porn)
- wait a few seconds
- at the top right of the ad-page, "Skip Ad" will apear
- click that
- the download will start.

Good advice. The link in the "Download" tab is down, but the one under "Installation" is different and works.

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure 0.3 is 32-bit only. However, there IS 1 64-bit 0.2.2 version that was made.

This looks amazing. I have a question regarding my 40 GB SSD drive – and yes – I have searched the whole thread for "ssd" and "small".

Can I format an 8 GB USB stick as "Install", rename my SSD Start Disk "ML" and when I have run MLPostFactor (installing 10.8.4 on "Install", is that correct?) I'll just boot from "Install" and install a clean Mountain Lion 10.8.4 on what is now my only drive and my System Startup Disk? I'm just afraid I'm missing some critical step here or thinking completely wrong about this procedure.

It should work- just (when in OS X), install MLPF to the flash drive, and then when the install is done, install the patch to the ML drive.

Good luck!
