TO get iMsg, FaceTime working, just use Chameleon, everything works fine. Ill be posting some modded X1600 kexts up for Mavericks soon.

Is this applicable to my iMessage issue on 10.8.4 as well?

Do you have any insight as to why this is an issue on my iMac 4,1 which has been flashed to 5,1? Something about the hardware being unsupported for Lion AND ML?

Could this be fixed in a future release of MLPF? (Tricking the computer into thinking it's newer than it actually is, for this specific model?)

I believe what this/you are referring to is establishing how Chameleon is identifying/labeling/reading your various boot disk so that it (Chameleon) can be set to boot the disk you wish to have boot up automatically. Obviously this applies to only those disk that are being booted up by the Chameleon boot loader.

The easiest way to establish this is by pressing the "alt" key at start up. Once you get you the entire list of bootable disk on your screen, locate the one entitled "Windows". Once it begins booting, begin in a semi continuous fashion "tapping" the down arrow key on your keyboard until you are booted to Chameleon's main menu screen. Within that screen, there will be your list of bootable disk and next to each will be in parentheses the boot order (i.e. 1,2 0,1 0,2 etc.) as Chameleon is reading/seeing them. Take note of the number sequence next to the disk that you would prefer that Chameleon automatically boot to. Boot to your desktop and navigate to your "BOOT" partition. In the root of your "BOOT" partition, find your "Extra" folder and open it. Once there, open the file entitled "org.chameleon.Boot.plist" with your Text Edit .app. Locate <key>Default Partition</key> then under it the <string>hd(2,2)</string>. While referring to the sequence of boot order numbers that you wrote down next to the disk that you wish chameleon to automatically boot enter those (again it should be something like 1,2 0,1 0,2 etc.) within the parentheses then close your "org.chameleon.Boot.plist". The next time you boot to the "Windows" partition Chameleon will automatically boot to the disk you assigned it to do so in your "org.chameleon.Boot.plist".

Hope that addresses your question.

Brilliant, thanks GT.

Hello ! I have an issue here and my setup is a bit.. weird. Looking for advice !

I have a 2006 imac, A1195 and the screen was defective. I swapped the internal LCD to another lcd and it's connected via the mini-dvi back connector.

So, i got no internal lcd, just an external as the imac sees it.

OK, my issue :

I installed MLpostfactor 0.3 over 10.8.4 on a external hard drive (i did this via VMware workstation 9 with a USB drive passed to it, on a windows PC on osx 10.7.5). Every went OK.

Since i have no MAC here, i was at a customer's site and i had access to an iMac 27'' new 2013 version.

I tried booting on the MLPostfactor'ed drive, and i was stuck at the apple logo. Is that normal that it didn't boot on that one ? Tried a few times, no go.

So i'm still stuck, i can't do the install portion on the imac because i ain't got no internal lcd and it won't show the install steps on the external lcd.

Anyone got the imagination to find a trick that i could use to get that thing going, any tips ? Thanks :)

Download links not working?

I waited a few days and the link on the oxshackers site seems to be still broken. Is there another one? There are over 114 pages now, so searching for the correct link is rather difficult.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the insight, I just wish it was an apples to apples comparision (early iMac to early iMac) since my computer is a bit older :/ I feel as if this could be corrected in a future MLPF release for this specific computer.

I might try upgrading over my existing 10.7.5 though, just need to figure out how!

hi,
have been using MLPF for a while now, (MLPB 0.3, OS X 10.8.4 on a MacBook 3,1) and all is great, with one exception. every time i try to mount a disk image or a cd formated ISO 9660, i get this error "Unable to attach “ImageName.dmg” (no mountable file systems). is anyone else experiencing this? am i the only one?

So far I did not had any problem with disk images, although I don't know how they have been formatted... But if this fails for you, and you seem to rely on this, you might try DeamonTools to circumvent the issue (at least for the images). Another alternative could be roxio toast, which is commercial, but might even work for physical media.

Some pages give a server overloaded error, but the main (Home/Install/Download) pages are healthy.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say thank you for all you good work. My black macbook 4,1 (core 2 duo @ 2.4 GHz, 4 GB ram, 500 GB HD) is running Mountain Lion flawlessly: bluetooth, wi-fi, audio, graphics, keyboard, sleep mode, japanese dictionaries, trackpad, notification center, iMessage, FaceTime Photo Booth, they all work.

I also think that is worth saying that I installed over 10.7.5 instead of doing a clean install and it didn't affect my system's performance. It took a little longer than expected to install (took about an hour), but everything works fine.

Tell us how you did it?

To trick it use chameleon wizard and create smbios.plist with whatever model you
want
I have macbook 5.1 iMessage etc working fine:)

Hi, I did a clean install of MLPostFactor 0.3 with OSX 10.8.3 on my Mac Mini 2007 and work perfect. But for this installation i decide to remove the original partition that contains the 10.7.5. I use one USB DRIVE for the installer and i wish to create a new installation with 10.8.4 due to the 0.3 version dont support update. My question is: Can I perform a new 10.8.4 install drive from 10.8.3 MLPostfactor?
Thanks in advance for your advise.

Hey there I’ve ran jabbawoks method for a while and I keep running into an issue with the mavericks install…..I keep getting into the installer and selecting the target partition for the install but keep getting this message

OS X install data is incomplete
The following required components of OS X were not found on the installation disc

Essential system software

I restore the base system dmg to the installer partition as stated in the guide and copied packages into place deleting the symlink

Any ideas

The pages appear, but the download link is dead and the overload errors have been there for weeks.

I don't understand where people are getting the MLPF install from, unless there is another URL I cannot find...

In scrutinizing my original addendum/adjustment guide and after much deliberation I came upon this section:

"…you will also need to perform this step (adding your motherboard ID) with Text Edit .app to these specific files in these locations within your created OS X 10.9 “Installer boot image:

System/Installation/Packages/InstallableMachines.plist
System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist
System/Library/CoreServices/com.apple.recovery.boot/PlatformSupport.plist"

In looking it over...I don't know..it just seemed like an "overkill"; like I was over thinking the whole thing by trying to be TO thorough so I decided "oh what the heck what do I have to loose" and I omitted the entire section. Oddly that seems to have been the road block that was holding my install back.

What os install.mpkg are you using ? As you can't edit with pacifist and the ml mpkg posted on jabbawoks blog is what I believe is causing the install error for me

Hm... I'd be willing up upload my copy to Mediafire, but I don't think it's respectful to re-up something without permission. ;)

EDIT- Screw it, I'll upload through MEGA (only way to upload big files for free) for a temporary fix (lots of people left hanging!) It'll finish by 6:30 EST, I'll post a link!

Cheers,
