A remark

Actually it is quite easier that way, but a small correction will make it perfect.
Here the steps:
1 Instal on a ML authorized mac to the big flash.
2 Plug-in the flash drive to you Lion running, unsupported mac.
3 Replace only the efi files in the CoreServices and i836 and the final plist file also in CoreServices.
4 Boot off of this drive. Would work but no audio.
5 Install the hacked audio driver as per instructions in #22
Done! Really fast.
If you follow blindly my previous instructions your system will report an older version of the OS because in the process you replaces the Os version file too, so don't do it. Just use that simplified guide.

But.... video is only 64mb a default driver, yet "kylegray" has managed to activate the drivers for 3100 and gets full144mb and video recognized. I want to know how did he do it.

I got this method to work for me. After i was sure it booted i super dupered it to a Partition on the hard drive. It runs fast just has the problems Mentioned sleep,brightness,ect...

Seems like a GMA 950 issue to me. Wait for the other forumer who successfully get it booted to write his guide or use Stevo's method post #322.

Downside is you need a compatible Mac. Not everyone has that, but i will include a link on post #22 for those who has a compatible one. :)

EDIT! Opps!! Misread the post, yeah i will edit it out.

¡Thanks a lot!

I have a question for you, works macbook with gma 950 with ML at last?

1 forumer has done it, I'm not sure about it. I don't have my MB2,1 with me so can't help much with GMA 950 atm

----------

would the 10.7.4 kexts be better?

Nope, you might ask, why 10.6.2? Cuz Apple accidentally included 64 bit X3100 driver in 10.6.2 which explains why you get full acceleration.

That explains why Lion was screwy at first…

----------

So you did used the kexts from 10.6.2 right?

Yes i did
----------

So are you working on that sleep issue thingy? and Does anyone need those SL Drivers? I have them.

yes! I want those kexts from 10.6.2! and yes, I'm working on the sleep issue. Apple removed the driver in the 10.6.3 update. No release ever included the 64 bit driver except 10.6.2

You're welcome. Try it and report back if it works cuz i have no 1GB system to test ML on

I can't try it because i don't have the gma 950 driver to make the mac works.

Sorry : (

The only thing I needed my compatible mac for was to get the Mountain Lion install file, as it wouldn't download onto my mac from the App Store

Modification to post #22 is just to simplify it. You can go with 322 first.

Whats the current progress with x3100 driver? Installing ML is not a big deal, but its useless without graphical acceleration

Currently with full acceleration all 144MB detected, but without OpenGL 4 support as its a hardware problem (your X3100 does not support OpenGL 4, blame it on Intel)

If you have followed the thread all along, I was actually thinking whether or not its hackable, that time it was still ML DP1 and finally figured it out @ post #22. Lol

Mountain Lion on GMA 950 Macbook:

  1. Get a ML capable machine, its easier this way and thats how I've done it. Now proceed to patch / replace the files on your ML install USB, as per hackerwayne's guide.

  2. Boot up from the ML USB & install it. In my case, I've installed it on an external 2.5" HD. Took around 15 minutes from start to finish.

  3. Boot into your newly created ML installation, still from the ML-capable machine; download this zip file HERE. This contains the 10.6.2 GMA950 kexts, which are 64-bit capable, as well as AppleHDA.kext from Lion, which enables audio.

  4. Unzip everything, and using kext utility (included in the above zip file), install the kexts by dragging all of them into the main kext utility screen.

  5. Last step, is to copy over the patched PlatformSupport.plist from hackerwayne's guide (his last step) to /System/Library/CoreServices so that ML can boot off your Macbook.
Simple. :D
