Right, so some how the app copied the files to the primary drive instead of the assigned "Install" drive. That can't happen actually. Ill try to check my codes again & if so, why didnt it happen to other users.:confused::confused:
So, I decided to delete the ML app that I had and ... found another one. I also left MLPostFactor in the mounted dmg instead of putting it in my Downloads folder. Now, MLPostFactor is working as it should. Yay!

[EDIT] And it installed. Trackpad finally works!

Some questions

Hey guys, I've been on this thread for a few months now, and I just finally installed ML on my '06 MacBook. Works like a charm, faster than Lion, but I have a few bugs.

For one, the dock is broken. By this I mean, the silver bottom is gone, just a black shadow under the icons.

Another thing, Messages won't work. I imported iCloud stuff on the initial install, and Game Center, FaceTime and the rest of the iCloud stuff works, but iMessage won't login. I also even changed my serial # (saw it in an earlier post) to my bother's early 2011 MBP. But it still won't work! Messages was a big reason I wanted to upgrade, so It'd be sweet if I could get it to work!

thanks everyone and Wayne, this has been a total godsend.

So are you saying that you booted into 10.6, ran the above terminal command and then booted back to ML and ran the MLB command?

I ran the 10.6 command a while ago, when I started trying to install 10.8. The issue was that my 10.8 installation with the 64-bit MLforAll V0.3 method wouldn't let me run any nvram script, neither the boot-args one nor the "MLB" one.
However, this doesn't matter too much now, since MLPostFactor 0.2.2 is working with iMessage. It also lets me run the nvram commands if I need to.

A question

What exactly does this instruction mean?

6. Go to Utilities and select MLPostFactor apply it to the partition "ML"

What I'm not sure about is the word "apply".

Hmm, wondering if running that MLB command will cause a problem with my 10.8 installation.

Just did my MacBook 2,1 last night! To fix iMessage is pretty simple, this comes from my and others Hackintosh work on the subject back in January and is much easier on real mac since NVRAM changes are persistent across reboots. Use Terminal and type:

sudo nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:MLB=

and after the "=" you put your Mac's serial # followed by any 6 random digits of your choosing. It should be 17 digits all together. Then hit enter>type password>reboot>use iMessage :)

When you say random digits are you talking numbers or anything alphanumeric? Also, do you mean no spaces for the last section for example;

sudo nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:MLB=DL7890QGIXD123ABC?

Try reinstall & not import iCloud settings. Make sure you're not on 10.8.0

Thanks, but that's already what I've done. I was wondering if there was a way to get the 3D dock, not the 2D one. Thanks though! :D

EDIT: I forgot to enter my serial # using the technique above, so I redid it, and iMessage works!!! Yes!

No, see this is my normal '3D' dock, which is messed up.

https://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=407605&stc=1&d=1365862186

and this is what he wanted me to do-

defaults write com.apple.dock hide-mirror -bool yes

This changes it to the 2D dock- not fixing the 3D one.
No it doesn't. Below is what it does. All it's doing is hiding the mirroring of UI elements (Windows, etc) when they're near the dock. ie. they're no longer reflected in the dock.

screenshot20130413at822.png

The only way you'd have the 2D dock is if you either put the dock on the left or right side and not the bottom or used these commands:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES
killall Dock

I'm sorry, I'm not following. Do you want me to enter that command, or not? When I use that it turns the dock 2D on the bottom, and I have yet to make the 3D one silver. The 3D one works, but it's just a shadow.

Ok, here's proof- te first image is using the command you gave me, and see it turns the dock 2D.

The second is changing the last command to 'NO' which turns it into the broken 3D dock.

Huh. Wierd. You can try typing in:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NO
killall Dock
That should turn off the 2D dock and reenable the 3D dock

Ahah! Thanks, but the original command you gave me enabled the 2D dock- you never gave me that one before! Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thanks a ton, my install is complete

I'm using 0.2.2 on 10.8.3.

I can't connect to samba shares because smbfs.kext is the wrong architecture.

As always, thanks so much for your hard work! I'm loving 10.8.3!

Just wanted to comment that I'm having the same issue (I believe). I'm running 10.8.3 with all updates installed and can't connect to any SMB shares from two different Windows 2008 R2 servers. If I boot back into my Lion install (fully patched/up to date) I can connect to the servers successfully.

I've read through the posts from this one forward and this is the only mention I can find of Samba not working. Is this an issue with MLPostFactor or my install?

Thanks!

Icloud document and data - no sync

Hi Hackerwayne
First Ty for all! you roxx man !
Mountain Lion 10.8.3 is running fine on my macbook 2,1 with MLPostfactor v.0.2.2 but i only have a little issue with icloud:
I cannot upload and download my documents (pages/text edit/keynote...) on the cloud.
When i put it on the windows, i have a "waiting" status ("Attente" in the picture)

https://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=407635&stc=1&d=1365875284

I tried many things from other post (Uncheck and check "document and data" in icloud preference; deleting Ubiquity, Mobile document, GlobalPreference.plist) but nothing works

What may be the problem?

I notice in the log this line i see eachtime I "Unckeck/check"

13/04/13 19:55:58,756 librariand[1160]: MMe quota status changed: under quota
13/04/13 19:55:58,762 apsd[55]: Certificate not yet generated

thx in advance

Boot Cache problems

I continue to get this message after UTILITIES>MLPostFactor when I go to pick a startup disk. I select ML and get a message that this disk could not be used as the startup disk because "BUILDING BOOT CACHES ON BOOT HELPER PARTITION FAILED."
What does this mean and what can I do to avoid it?
Thanks.

Don't worry about it. We're working on a fix on V0.3
