Has anyone tried installing a firmware update from a 64 bit mac pro into an older mac?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1237

I'm guessing that it's possible as long as the 32bit EFI has enough storage to hold the 64bit firmware?

I already made my mac pro 1.1 into a 2.1, with an EFI hack from Netkas

Just a thought...

Can't boot into Install

I tried everything i followed the tutorial but i cant' boot into install partition it doesn't show in the boot. I guess the MLPostfFactor isn't copying the files into the install partition. What can i do?

Try to change your startup disk in system preferences, it should be listed there.

No it isn't listed there if it is there it will boot in the Install partition i am saying that the MLPostFactor is not copying tha files this is all i get in the install partition and it should have a lot more files there.

Delete the partition and re-create it.
Apply the MLPostFactor after.

Happened to me on a USB stick that already had ML installation. Even if I deleted all files the MLPost didn't copy anything to the USB stick.
Only deleting and re-creating the partition worked for me.

Hope this helps!

I already tried this, and i also tried with different partitions. I also checked the partition it says is bootable. I am using external hdd.

10.8.4 install

I just downloaded OSXUpdCombo10.8.4_12E36.pkg from one of those underground sources. It appears to be a developers beta. It installs fine on my MBP.
Is there any way to install it on my unsupported MacBook that is running 10.8.3?
Thanks.

Some files to support the MLPostFaktor website...

And what about the slogan "Mountain Lion for the rest of us"?

Install works, but not available on network.

Hi All,

Just installed everything and its looking great. I am connected to our network via ethernet (internet running well, emails sending and ip address allocated) and am running a late model Mac Pro:

Model Name:Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name:Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed:2.66 GHz
Number of Processors:2
Total Number of Cores:4
L2 Cache (per Processor):4 MB

Unfortunately I cannot connect to any other computers on the network and they cannot see me. I can restart back in Lion and everything is fine, but when I go back to ML I still get the same issue. Any fix or advice for this?

Regards

Simon

ty hackerwayne & MLForAll!

Took a couple of attempts to get it right, but very happy to now have MLPostFactor v0.2.2/10.8.3 running on my 5yo MacBook 2.4gHz 4.1.
So big thanks to hackerwayne and MLForAll for putting in your time to make this hack possible!
__________
Like previous post #2022, trying to install official Little Snitch demo caused kernel panic.
Instead of reinstalling MLPostFactor etc., I rebooted back into ML in Safe Boot mode (hold down Shift key when powering up), and had to eject the Little Snitch disk image, and trashed all the Little Snitch and Objective Development files and folders I could find (in Library/User Library LaunchDaemons, LaunchAgents and Application Support, and in System Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext.). Repaired disk permissions, and rebooted with no issues.
__________

wayne - do we have to leave the Install partition in place?
And in the ML partition, do we have to leave all the unhidden folders/files(sbin, mach_kernel etc.) in place also? Or can we rehide some of them?
__________

Thanks again for putting this great project together and maintaining it!

Between MLPostFactor and BitTorrentSync, my MacBook is mirroring my MacMini. Nice.

Yes.
Read the previous posts regarding mDNSResponder problems on why and wait for v0.3!
:)

Seems v0.3 is at the door! :O
