As I mentioned in my previous post, no. the software is not recognizing the fact that I plugged in the USB 4 dongle, so I have not gotten any further, even though the same dongle does work with my late 2011 Macbook Pro 15" with 10.10

Mid 2010 27" iMac with the Atheros chip here. Would swapping out the airport card with BCM94360CD and then using a BT dongle be possible? Thank you.

I was able to upgrade the Airport Extreme card in my MacBook Pro 17-inch Mid-2010 the the ...CAX model and enable Handoff/Continuity (and Knock LE bluetooth).
Hi, I'm relatively new to doing this kind of thing - would you mind linking me a copy of the card you bought so I can do the same upgrade to my laptop? Thanks!

Macbook upgrade for Handoff/continuity...

I have a late 2011 Macbook pro 15" that I was able to use by purchasing a IOComm GBU521 I just plugged it in and ran the Continuity Activation Tool and am now working 100%. The only other step necessary was to log out of, ten back into my iCloud account. My early 2009 Mac Pro tower is another story... back to the drawing board... The Macbook Pro is good with all of the iPhones and iPads we have in the house, all running IOS 8, as well as my son's Mac Min 2012...

Very bizarre issue...

I had the whole thing working fantastically with the help of the guide and the tool and then suddenly today it just stopped working after a restart. I was in the middle of installing a programme called "Soundflower" which controls audio - didn't really need it anyway - and I was asked to reboot. When the laptop restarted 'Wifi: No Hardware Found' showed up in the menu bar.

May SoundFlower messed the 'kext' or something up? I'm not very technically knowledgable but that seemed the logical reason to me. I set about restoring from backup from time capsule to a few hours before I downloaded, however, it didn't help and it is still not found...

Reset SMC
Reset PRAM
Reset plists and systemconfig files
still no joy!

The silly thing is it works fine in the boot menus and on Windows 8 bootcamp...

PLEASE save me from having to use windows 8!

----------

I just uninstalled continuity... it said this:

--- OS X Continuity Activation Tool 2.0.0 ---
by dokterdok

--- Initiating uninstallation ---

Restoring kexts... OK. Restored backup drivers found in '/Users/Benji/KextsBackupBeforePatch'
Applying correct permissions... OK
Updating kext caches... OK
Updating system caches... OK
Disabling any HCI switch behavior... OK
Verifying system kexts signatures... OK. 1 or more unsigned drivers were found. OS kext security protection won't be changed to prevent issues.

DONE. Please reboot now to complete the uninstallation.

Press any key to reboot or CTRL-C to cancel...

Solved by uninstall and reinstall of the activation tool.

Great stuff! Won't bother with that audio software again, is this something I should look out for, things that might edit kext? how do I know they might?

Does this still work on Yosemite 10.10.2?

Just installed after not being able to find any success/fail stories about the Continuity Activation Tool and the release of 10.10.2. Works fine! Verified that after installing 10.10.2 release, the Handoff option disappeared from General System Preferences. Used the newest version of the CAT and now have the Handoff option back again.

Is it safe to install 10.10.2? Will it break my Handoff and Continuity?

mid 2011 MBA here. I installed the tool when I update to 10.10.1 a few months ago.

Verified that after installing 10.10.2 release, the Handoff option disappeared from General System Preferences. Used the newest version of the CAT and now have the Handoff option back again.

So we need to re-install the CAT? latest version perhaps (old version works fine with my MBA)?

I have never use Handoff but I want Continuity stuffs (Calling, texting from Mac, AirDrop etc.)

I have the same MBA and when I installed 10.10.2 I downloaded the new CAT version and everything works well. So yes downloading 10.10.2 will break CAT but the new version of CAT works well with the 2011 MBA.

Thank you. I hoped I would just not having to re-install but looks like I have to.

Hate to keep reposting this same question, but I don't see a more active thread than this one with relevant information for this. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks again!

Whatever I input, my name, my MBA password.. it said it's incorrect.

What should I input?

Edit: Never mind. I used the one in the archive and it works!
Now I encourage everyone to donate to the guy who did an immensely job for us.

I purchased and installed a new airport card ( using the chart I searched eBay and found the model) but the diagnostics says that my hardware does not support bt 4 still. did I not get the right card?

figured it out. eBay must have highlighted the Broadcom BCM94331PCIEBT4AX and not the CAX version. what is with the model name? it says BT4 in it , why the hell can't it support bt4.

Sorry if this is a common question here, but I couldn't find an answer after looking.

Can someone direct me to a working USB Bluetooth adapter for Continuity on a late 2009 Mac Mini?

Many thanks.

so I have two questions -

First bluetooth dongle related - the github page for this utility says "not guaranteed to work with csr dongles". Where I am there are a lot of csr ones and cant find broadcom dongle. Does the statement mean some work and some done? or that performance is unreliable? or that it just doesn't work and i should look elsewhere for broadcom dongle?

Secondly, if i use this utility what happens with the built in bluetooth? will i still continue using that as normal? or will all functions be ported over to the new usb dongle?

In a van down by the river
For those curious about 10.10.3 official release compatibility, I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 today. The Continuity Tool 2.0 was showing everything was ok. However, in looking at "About Mac," I saw that Handoff was showing as not supported even though it was recognizing I had a BTLE card. I went through the uninstall / install process and everything is working as it should be.

For people using the Continuity Tool 2.0, uninstall and then reinstall the tool after upgrading Yosemite.

Hello people! I updated my MBP 17" (2011) to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 yesterday, and after reinstalling the Continuity Activation Tool, it worked perfectly!

I hope this helps.

Regards!

Paging Dokterdok...

I am using a Late 2011 17" MBP. I've installed the CAX card, and everything is working fine on 10.10.2.

I noticed your compatibility graphic currently excludes my machine. Is it possible you could update the graphic to include it so others may also know?

Will be happy to provide screenshots as proof. Thanks!

MBP13" mid2009 + Asus USB-BT400 + iPad mini Cel 1°gen

OS X 10.10.3
iOS 8.3
CAT 2.0.1 beta

Continuity & Handoff work perfectly between Mac & iPad, both directions, I just have a little problem: when Mac wakes up from a sleep the bluetooth is inactive and I am not able to force its activation.

EDIT:
I resolve my problem unplugging and replugging the adaptor.
