I have a problem with my Macbook Pro late 2008 (5,1 Version) and a Asus BT400 USB dongle

After using Cat 1.1.2 my wifi card get deactivated.
My system is Yosemite 10.10.1.
Any suggests?
Hello, CAT v.1.x doesn't work with dongles.
Use the CAT uninstall feature to restore your original drivers, and use CAT 2.0.

Atheros Wifi card will not work, you need a Broadcom wifi card for this to work. My 2011 iMac also has the Atheros card.

After iOS 8.1.2 update my 2011 Macbook Air took a very long time to see my iPhone in AirDrop folder, sometimes it took about 10 minutes, while before it was almost instantaneous. :(

Hey guys - weird issue; can't get handoff / instant hotspot to work even though CAT patch appears to have successfully completed, rebooted, and logged in/out of iCloud (followed all the steps).

Airdrop works perfectly fine, and CAT was working fine before I reinstalled Yosemite and transferred settings via the Migration Assistant.

Running CAT on a Macbook Pro Early 2011, changed to CAX card.

Any input is appreciated - thanks.

Instant Hotspot/Airdrop are all "supported" as per System Information

Swap cards between Mini and MacBook Pro

Hi, guys.

I have a mid-2012 Mac mini which I don't care wether it supports Continuity or not. But I also have a late-2013 MacBook Pro in which I'd really like to make Continuity to work.

Can I have their Airport cards swapped? I mean, do they use the same kind of cards, although the mini has a newer version of it?

Cheers.

Imac early 2008

Have got the broadcom 94360 card. Do I need to run the CAT or will
Continuity work without the soft mod? Please help. This is due to GitHub page says only card required while the posts earlier mention card replacement plus kept mod.

Please clarify

Asus USB-BT400

I just bought the Asus BT400. I noticed there is no Mac OS X support provided on the driver disk. Will this still work with CAT?

Need help - Iogear GBU521 is showing LMP version 4, can't use Activation Tool

Yosemite natively supports the Iogear GBU521, but when it's plugged in to my Mac Pro (5,1), and active, System Information is showing that the LMP version is 4 (0x4), and Continuity Activation Tool is seeing that, too, and won't install.

I don't know what I need to do to change that. I'm seeing many reports of that same dongle just showing up as LMP version 6, but mine is not. I just purchased the dongle through Amazon for this tool, as it was called out specifically for being compatible.

I'm really hoping someone can tell me what I need to do to alter it, so I can get this to work.

Want to add I'm that running 10.10.1

Hello, I've upgraded my MBP 15" mid 2010 with the BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX board and run the CAT tool. Now the BT4 is detected, but I've a problem with WiFi. It lists all the available networks but when I want to log on to a network it gives a 'Connection timeout' and does not logon. Restarted the AP. With my iPhone and iPad I can connect to that WiFi network, also checked with another WiFi network, that gives the same problem. Also tried the manual procedure. At point 27 when you execute the sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel you should get 2 lines with .....signature -67061 ...... But only one line shows up. Tried the procedure again but got the same result. Advice on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Possible to use Atheros WiFi?

Is it possible to use the Atheros WiFi chip for Continuity? I have a late 2009 iMac and it has the Atheros chip for WiFi. I have a USB 4.0 dongle and would like to use it, but it is not working with Continuity Activation Tool 2.0. Compatibility chart says no as well. Is this being worked on? I can do surgery if absolutely necessary but I have 2 USB 4.0 dongles I bought awhile back, I use one in my MBP and works great! Please let me know if I must buy a broadcom chip or just be patient for Atheros to work with updated version of Continuity Activation Tool??
Thanks!

This worked perfectly for me!

This worked perfectly for me! I purchased the IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter (GBU521) hopes to utilize Apple's handoff and airdrop features. I have the MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) running OS X Yosemite. I installed 'Continuity Activation Tool'. It was seamless. There were no hiccups and all is working like a charm!

I just ordered the same adapter for my late 2011 MBP. Hope I have as seamless an experience as you did.

Edited to add: Just received the adapter. Connected it to my MBP, ran the activation tool, and everything is working as it should.

I was able to upgrade the Airport Extreme card in my MacBook Pro 17-inch Mid-2010 the the ...CAX model and enable Handoff/Continuity (and Knock LE bluetooth). So the chart should probably be updated to show the 17-s go back to mid-2010.

I've noticed that there is some confusion on the Internet in general about whether the mid-2010 MacBook Pro 17-inch has wifi and bluetooth on a single card near the optical drive vs earlier models that have only a bluetooth card there, and wifi card apparently in the hinge. The source of this confusion may be iFixit teardown guides, which seem to use a 2009(?) model for the Unibody 17-inch guides. For optical drive/wifi card guides, the guide for the mid-2010 15-inch MacBook Pro seem to come the closest to what I see under the hood.

[…]

MacbookPros: Mid 2010 (15" only) - Requires new blutooth/wifi card and Modified Kext

[…]

Note: Earlier MacBookPros then listed and 13"+17"MBPs had the wifi adapter in the screen hinge so newer cards will not fit inside of them.

[…]

I will also update the list above if someone lets me know that something is off. Since I don't have access to all these machines I cant try them all out to know 100%

My Mid-2010 MacbookPro 17-inch has the same wifi card config as the Mid-2010 (combo wifi/bluetooth card bolted to the optical drive, NOT in the hinge)

I was able to successfully install the CAX card and get Handoff/Continuity compatibility with the CAT tool.

I can report that I was able to successfully patch my iMac Early 2009 using only an Asus USB-BT400 dongle.

All of the charts said that my mac won't work and I would need to replace the BT board but, tested and works using CAT 2.0.0.

Mid 2010 27" iMac with the Atheros chip here. Would swapping out the airport card with BCM94360CD and then using a BT dongle be possible? Thank you.

arly 2009MacPro (4.1) w/ Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle CAT not working

I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro ver. 4.1. Upgraded to Yosemite, and your chart shows that I should be able to use it wit a Blutooth 4.0 Dongle. The Continuity Handoff tool stops saying to plug in a Bluetooth dongle (already plugged in) to continue, Does not recognize the dongle being plugged in. Tried, multiple IOGear Dongles, which work on my MacBook Pro to enable Continuity/Handoff/Airdrop. This tower does not have an airport card installed. Safe to assume that I will need to install one before expecting this issue to go away? The CAT chart showed that I could either put in a new Airport card or use the dongle, either would work... figured I would try the easiest path first. Then I realized that this statement probably presumed that an older airport card was present. am I correct in this?

Thanks in advance!
