While I think it’s inevitable that Apple comes out with a foldable iPhone, I can’t say I’d be a buyer. Yes, it is kinda cool to be able to fold out a regular iphone into an ipad like device, but I just don’t think it will match the quality of Apple’s current ipad pros or even the mini. That might not matter for most people, but as an artist who uses his ipads to draw on, I do value a quality screen & Apple pencil support. Altho Apple might give their future foldable iphone apple pencil support, i just don’t see the screen matching the quality I need as an artist. And that’s fine. I hope Apple sells a gazillion of them and makes all their shareholders very happy. I use my iPad Pro professionally, and do use my ipad mini for when I want to travel light… so i hope this doesn’t mean the death of the iPad mini. To me phones tend to be made with built in obsolescence & almost disposability. With people upgrading every year or two. What I love about iPads, especially as an artist, is that their usefulness as a digital sketchbook remains viable conceivably forever. I am still using & loving my 2018 11” iPad Pro. They just last.

Terrific phone, one of the best foldables I've seen yet. I can't wait for Apple to do one. Remember when the first Galaxy Note came out and all the Apple fans made fun of it (I was one of them)? "Why would I carry a tablet around in my pocket, it's so absurd." Now the Pro Max (same size bracket) is the best selling iPhone model.

Foldable tech is getting to the point where the folded state has approximately the same weight and thickness as a regular slab phone. The first generation crease issues are being improved year over year and OnePlus have done the best job so far as far as I can recall.

Yes, I want a Pro Max that unfolds into an iPad Mini in my pocket. Imagine multi app use or even editing ProRaw photos in the unfolded state 😍
I currently use both an iPhone 14pro for portability and an iPad Pro 11” when I need the immersive real estate. A bulky phone that folds open into something smaller or about iPad mini size is a no go for me.

Wake me up when someone figures out a way that can make an iPhone mini sized phone fold open into a 11” plus tablet. I would go for that!!

If Apple makes a foldable they can use the added thickness to get rid of the camera bump.

I don't like this OnePlus foldable. Why 3 screens. Just make it fold open to the one large screen. It's like they said 2 screens is better, 3 screens is more better.

Android still sucks.

The Pro Max takes better pictures compared to this OnePlus. 🤌

folding phones are stupid and pointless. just stop.
Well it's a good thing you aren't forced to buy one and those of us that enjoy the latest bleeding-edge tech can.

I despise I can't set-up an iPhone home screen the way I want. Others are fine with it. I don't want them to stop making iPhones because the OS is stupid.

Choice, its a wonderful thing.

Interested to see what the average lifespan of a folding phone is in a few years when the market has a wide variety available across multiple territories. If an iPhone can last 4-5 years, should we expect the same for a folding phone or only 2 years at most due to the hinge/wear and tear impact.

I'm always surprised at how OnePlus understands how people use phones. My OnePlus 8T seemed to be aimed directly at iPhone users, so I'm thinking that they've really examined how people would use a fold-able product and re-examined it more than a few times to get it right.

After my struggles with a Google Pixel 6a, I would definitely consider products made by OnePlus to replace it. ASUS is probably the only other Android-based brand that has my attention.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the appeal of foldable's.
You do not have to be sorry. Please consider that they have appeal to those who would like the advantages of an iPhone and an iPad mini combined in one device. Totally would agree that it is not for everyone but I believe plenty of people would welcome the option.

I would rather see Apple go entirely in the opposite direction and release a receiver that's as tiny as possible for maximum portability, which does nothing but direct traffic to and from the larger Apple device of your choice. Imagine an iPhone nano, the size of the old tiny iPod nano, which will let you send and receive calls from the device but which is really intended to turn your MacBook or iPad or other Apple device into a fully functioning smartphone.

Looks like a good implementation. But, in three years will there be more of these sold or more Apple Vision (Pro and whatever) sold? I believe devices such as AVP are the future. Apple is pursuing the right path as of now.

If I was a “one device” person then this would be a cool option but I really don’t care about folding phones. I don’t want to watch too much content on my phone, and the only use case for that is commuting, when I’m home I’ll use my actual tablet or MacBook Pro.

I’m trying to do LESS stuff in my phone these days lol, mirrorless camera, notepad etc

I like the designs of One Plus, they are like a high quality generic Apple. Their iPad clone is one of the best looking Android Tablets out there. As far as Foldable's, I think they're all ugly, although this one is slightly less ugly than the others.

I wouldn't get a foldable at the moment simply because it's too expensive, but the people who can't see the appeal in general are probably the same people who thought a 3.5" touchscreen is a dumb idea because all they really needed was a clamshell or a physical qwerty keyboard.

They are completely different device types and we're way off from a future where smart glasses are small enough to be a daily companion.

I want a foldable on my commute to watch a movie, read a book or play a game. I'd love to have one as my work phone so I can answer emails and check my calendar at the same time, or make notes and research stuff.

I'm not going to carry around a device the size of an AVP daily to hang on in an immersive space on my train commute.

While there is a lot for me to like here (RAM, Peak nits, 239g weight, multitasking approach, barely noticeable crease, overall size, fast charger in the box, etc.) I just can't buy a OnePlus phone for three reasons:

1. Chinese company
2. Past record of hardware and software issues
3. Probably the worst support in the game

I almost pulled the trigger just to give it a shot, but I know better.
1. Basis for the concern?

Funny how we all still have fingers. Holding a tablet is different than a phone. Thin bezels on a table are a net negative.
You do realize what a foldable phone turns into by unfolding it, don't you? Thin bezels on a mini table are a net positive. I know this from 2.5 years of owning foldables. It's called experience. Try it sometime.

With any trade-in you're down to 1,499. That is an absolutely reasonable in the book-style foldable world.
A trade-in does not make it cheaper, you’re just paying the difference with the value of your old phone.

Anyway, It’s the general tendency of mobile phones becoming so expensive that I’m starting to dislike. Regardless of foldable or not, manufacturers are making use of the situation(hype), slowly pushing the threshold of pain, and people are getting used to paying that much and sadly most of them even make debt for such things.

Don’t like it?, don’t buy it.
I would Apple to do something like that, but seems Tim will retire before that.
iPhones have been the same since soool long. No wow factor, no eagerly waiting for a new phone every year, now the innovation is a different metal frame and evolutive camera. The worst part is that iPhone 16 will be heavier again according to rumors!!
