Kinda strange to take out the cameras when they are pushing new Final Cut live editing and such. Doubt many folks are using it to shoot but to have an all in one might have increased that chance.

Interesting that no one seems to mention that the corner radius of the display has increased a lot. Now it properly matches the device frame radius, unlike all the previous edge-to-edge iPads.

That would make it look prettier. But if you're working on a document, watching a movie, or scrolling through a website, wouldn't a smaller radius of cuvature (i.e., sharper corners) more closely match that content?

Setting the feature flag in Safari on my M2 iPad Pro 11 works...120Hz in UFO test. What, exactly, aren't you having luck with?
I tried Prefer Page Rendering Updates near 60fps (off) and Web Animations custom frame rate (on) followed by a force close of Safari, cleared browser cache and even a full restart but the 120fps test won’t show at all.

iPadOS is still so limited compared to macOS, especially for multitasking and app functionality. Federico Viticci's recent writeup on the iPadOS basics that Apple gets wrong is well worth a read.
This is a great writeup. I am tired of people whining for macOS on iPad. It would be a cheap fix, not optimal at all. At the same time, iPadOS has so many issues. What we need is a better iPadOS, not macOS on iPad.

Which 120fps test are you referring to? The tests I see will tell you what fps your screen does. There isn't a specific "120fps test" that I've seen.
I do have the first flag off, and the 2nd one you referred to I did not touch and it is off.

Using the "Compare frame rates: UFO" test, it shows 120Hz as top frame rate.

I too am wondering if WWDC's iPadOS 18 presentation will yield some sort of major excitement, because I'm torn about getting one considering it has SO much power, and yet it's essentially large form factor iOS.

I have an M1 12.9" Pro, admittedly the only thing I major care about is the OLED display, but the mini-led display is hardly unpleasant to look at.

$1299 is hard to justify for just this, even though I really want to send for one to be delivered this afternoon.
I too am currently using the M1 12.9” iPP and the reasons I’m upgrading are battery life, primarily, followed by weight reduction then the matte screen. I use my iPP daily for both work and play and traveling with it, it really just needs to get me through a few additional hours each day. I‘ve seen one review of someone getting 16 hours of video playback from the M4 13”, which should mean my doing typical business work (emails, spreadsheets, presentations, photo work) should easily get me more than the 8-9 hours I currently get out of my battery. The added benefit of it being lighter and having a matte screen is frosting on the cake for me.

Received my new 11 inch Air. It’s a replacement for a 4th gen (A14 Bionic, I believe), and it is noticeably (NOTICEABLY) snappier and faster. My old iPad was running out of battery pretty quickly, and I really didn’t expect much of a performance boost, at least not that I’d notice. This is fantastic!

I have the M1 12.9" iPad Pro. If it were only for the display, I wouldn't upgrade. Processor speed isn't a big deal, either. But the thing that makes me want to upgrade is the accessories, especially the pencil. It would be an all-in upgrade, and I hope it holds good for several years.

"But for me personally..."

No, for you, but not "personally."

Good Lord!

It's right up there with YouTubers overuse of the word "actually" and when they say "honestly," or "if I'm being honest" (aren't you always honest? Wait, what?).

As for the new iPad. Gorgeous. I just set mine up.

But the Magic Keyboard...buyer beware if you have long fingers, as when I got to type on the number row I consistently slam the tips of my fingers into the bottom of the display.

Buyer beware--try it out 1st at a store (assuming you have large hands and long fingers).

Another thing with the Magic Keyboard. It has haptics for clicking now of course. It also does the little tap when you drag a window up and hold it to enter the multitasking UI just like it does on iPhone. Unfortunately it does not do any of the other haptics like when you scroll through a wheel yet. This could bring a lot of the haptics from the iPhone over in the future even if the iPad has no Taptic Engine itself.

I was at the mall today and saw it at the Apple Store. I couldn’t tell the difference between my current iPad Pro in all honesty outside of weight and size. The OLED for me wasn’t that noticeable. I wanted to upgrade but I just can’t justify the cost while also needing a new MBP. Nice piece of hardware but in no way shape or form worth $2K for my needs when you include the keyboard.

Looked at the nano display in the apple Store. Quite nice, didn't seem too muted.
Overall, the upgrade from 2022 iPP is marginal. Lighter, but not shockingly so. Still pretty heavy. Thinner, but not crazy thin. Nice screen, but not falling out of my chair. Zippy, but the 2022 IPP is no slouch. Keyboard is nice upgrade, but still cramped with the iPad hanging over the keyboard. Apple Pencil has nice features, but not exactly exciting for all users.

Keeping it since I carry the Pad around much of the day. But I am not as floored as some of the reviewers seem to be.

I concur. Not sure why "the press' is so pumped about its light weight and thinness. Still a hefty tablet. But it is indeed a featherweight compared to my Samsung S8 Ultra. Now that'a a beast.

The idea that iPad OS is good for most people is getting old.

The reality is that it was fine until my kid got to the 9th grade in school. From the 10th grade onwards, got a MacBook Air with macOS and he never looked back. Except for YouTube and ocasional draw with the pencil.

I mean, if even a 15 year old kid feels that needs something more than iPad OS for a tool to study and be the most productive, I guess that ship as sailed and Apple is just dragging their feet.

Please Apple, just add touch and pen to the macOS. After all you put the mouse and keyboard in iPad OS … so the toaster vs fridge conceptual vision also was thrown out of the window.

All that remains is that you may be more profitable with iPad OS at the expense of restraining users and suppliers into your App Store while giving you the ability to freely leverage your homegrown digital services on top with tailor made policies and all that jazz. Fireworks apart, as a consequence, a way less useful and a more inefficient system for the end user. In that regard macOS is way more open and as a consequence proven way more useful and efficient.
