Right. Call people who's opinion you don't agree with a troll. Good idea. You probably should follow your own advice.
Not you, dummy. I meant the OP.

Have you measured the dB level of a "noisy" nMP? Have you contacted apple for support? I am guessing no an no. What are you trying to accomplish with hand waving and hyperbole? Do you really think attempting work the crowd into a mob mentality is going to work? This thread is not only insane, it is pointless.
.....................
So it is "pointless". Let's say you are right.
Why then post here?

So some people call each other "trolls", "dummies" and so on.
Good that we are in a forum about technical issues with well educated members, respectful of other's opinion and point of view.
That makes one feel really good...to be among nice, friendly and kind people!

To be fair, calling me dummy was accurate since I has mixed up the context. Also, I think most have respectfully stated that this thread is insanely pointless. Not sure what you expected, nobody here can do anything to help solve the issue which is subjective in the first place. If you want confirmation of your problem, start a poll. If you want to try and solve it, contact apple and let us know how it goes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No need of a "poll".
By now Apple finally acknowledges the noise problem as a REAL one, although they do not know yet how to solve it.
Kindly read what "ppxb" reports in the thread "Possible coil whine in my nMP ?"
post dated "Today 04:21 PM"
Then you might reconsider what is and what isn't "pointless"![]()
It is pointless and so is the other thread. What are you thinking you can accomplish? Nobody in this forum can help you. All you will get is misguided empathy.

Amen, brother!Riwam...you have made your point...over and over and over. We understand.
The horse is dead...and halfway to the glue factory. Give it a rest.

...............................................................Riwam, like others I have also tried to point out how subjective this is. I am happy with my 8c 1TB 64GB D700. If your not, return it or don't buy one. There is a minimum 14 day return for a reason. I have nothing further to add to these posts

Amen, brother!
After all one cannot put a nMP under the table on the carpet.
It must be on the table very near to the user!
Therefore may I ask for kind owners of a nMP who can with entire certainty say that their nMP is truly silent and please add the specs of their computer.
Riwam, you have received yours. Now the all-important question: can YOU hear the whine?![]()

My configuration for your information is 6 core, 1 TB, D500 and just the minimum RAM 3 x 4 GB compulsory sold by Apple.
I have not yet any TB connected device and use only USB and an adaptor from Mini DisplayPort (TB) to my 6 year old DVI 24" monitor.
At present it is very quiet but has no been stressed in any way.
Until now I could not detect either any other of the problems reported by different users, like spontaneous shutting down, wake-up problems or graphic faults shown in their displays with some types of software.
However some people have reported that the noise problem appeared only after a certain time (a week or so) or under certain use (software) in an initial quiet nMP.
I therefore hope that the nMP I received remains free of bugs, even under heavy stress.
Time will show if this is the case or not.
How is your nMP working and where will you buy additional RAM, which I suppose you intend to do?
So... You have no whine. Whats next to worry about?
.............................................
Your question seems to be ironical and presumably to make fun of people reading this thread, some having true reasons to worry.
I do not use to "worry" of what is not at present any "cause of worry".
I simply monitor the behavior of my nMP, hoping it will continue to work free of bugs.
There is no absolute warranty in this world for anything, including the time everyone of us has left to live (nothing new of course...).
The expectations concerning the operation free of problems of the nMP I received from Apple are from that point of view not different to my own life expectations ;-))
So I am doing my best to enjoy daily things in life (including machines) as long as possible...
Hope to have answered your (ironical?) question.
Have you installed the Mac Pro firmware update by any chance? I only noticed the whine afterwards. My replacement machine is preparing for shipment today, will update the thread how it goes.
