I'm surprised that more people don't talk about this. It's almost the only feature of Lion that feels like a big step forward from Snow Leopard and it's what keeps me on Safari. It's a *huge* advantage and I'm sad that other browsers haven't decided to follow Safari's lead.

I am sad that other browsers don't *have* it, but I can't be 100% sure this isn't because it's really, really hard to implement. That combined with Chrome and Firefox being loathe to spend time on platform-specific features makes me think their not including it is fairly rational. But it's still awesome, and I couldn't part with it for anything.

Probably because he's always used Safari.

Apple, how about giving us the ability to sort bookmarks alphabetically. IE has had this for a million years!

Is this an OCD-ish thing, or do you seriously access bookmarks this way? Because if you do, I'm pretty sure someone needs to sit you down and have a talk about Spotlight.

I'm well aware of the features of spotlight thank you. It's called personal preference. Maybe I need to sit you down and have a talk to you about that.

before, i could type the url in the url field and hit enter, it would automatically add the .com and go to the website. Now it goes to a google search for that entry and i have to click the link.

Anyone have a favorite extension for Safari 6? I have the basic ones like Click to Flash, Youtube5, Javascript Blocker, UltimateStatusBar and several others from Apple's site. But I've been trying to find an extension to let me pin a tab in safari like I can in Firefox. Anything like that for Safari?

Hell no. It's a browser that really has no place or point to existing. It's not the best at speed and it doesn't have a plethora of well supported extensions. Chrome and Firefox (despite its current bloatedness) is still far better than safari.

getting rid of the activity window is a huge loss.

unless there's a keyboard combo that opens it up that someone might know about.

I'm going to continue using Safari because it suits my needs.

1. I just need adblock and click2flash, both are available for Safari.
2. OS X integration is supreme, scrolling, navigation between pages, and multitouch integration such as dictionary keep me here.
3. Full screen mode on a 13.3" matters.
4. Sharing features.

On Windows though I prefer Google Chrome over both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

I have been using Safari since I switched to Lion. The back with the animation is what got me. It is just so nice and fluid. I know it is kind of a stupid reason, though I never use any of the extensions that are available for FF or Chrome so I didn't really bother me to give them up.

My two gripes with Safari currently are that I can't middle click to close tabs when I am using a traditional mouse and that currently when I go back to a Google search it takes me back to the second most recent search.

Since we're talking about Safari 6 / ML. Has anyone managed to resolve the fullscreen lag problem with flash video? Disabling hardware acceleration or reenabling it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I'm using the very latest version of flash.

I'm using Safari on rMBP with ML. On other platforms, even with my old uMBP, I'm using Chrome almost exclusively. Once Chrome is fully optimized for rMBP, I may ditch Safari altogether.

Safari has been crashing for me lately. Anyone else experiencing this? I tried to see if any of my extensions were the cause but it crashed again after a while. It seems to occur randomly. It runs fine for a couple of hours but then it just crashes out of the blue. Couldn't get anything from the crash log either. It also seems like Safari struggles once I get over 25 tabs.

Well I'm back to Firefox for the time being.

opening links in new tabs via 3-finger-tab by bettertouchtool has been very spotty since the update to ML. most of the time it just registers a normal left click and opens the link in the current tab. :(

Wow.
Whatever happened to Firefox...

I carried over using Firefox from my PC days a little over a year ago. It has done everything I need and I don't have any complaints. However, seeing these threads I decided to give the "native" OS X browser a try. Honestly, to me it's six of one and a half dozen of the other. I would really like to see a full-screen option, though.

I'll keep using Safari for a little while to see if I like it better next week when ML is available.

also, there seems to be a scrolling bug (at least i hope it is not intended):

when scrolling a long web page with multiple two-finger strokes in a row, after a few strokes the scrolling becomes faster and skips much more of the page. it is really annoying because you lose control over how much content you want to skip and you have to scroll back to get the part you wanted. has this happened to anyone else?

Also, I liked using the google suggestions as i typed in the goggle search box. The new unified search bar doesn't offer any suggestions, so I have to go to an actual google.com page to get them.

I really hope this isn’t true. I haven’t used Safari 6 yet. I found this image on Appleinsider which seems to show them.

This is exactly the reason why I haven't made the switch yet. Chrome adds .com if I hit Ctrl-Enter. Safari treats the keystroke as a simple Enter.
