BOOM.

Your examples are comical. One guy, vs millions of phones sold. Well done.

When you clump everyone into a category and make generalizations it makes it difficult to take your arguments seriously. If you don't have the time to replace the batteries in your phones, but have the time to make ongoing arguments here, at least you could attempt to provide some facts.

You mean like the whopping 20 people in this forum who actually have documented a legitimate slowdown due to a tired battery and an old piece of hardware?

You mean the way some people clump Apple supporters as “brainwashed“ and “getting paid by Apple“?

Facts? There are only 20 people talking in this forum who actually have phones slowed enough that they need to go in and make an appointment to get a new battery. The rest are soapboxing about phony conspiracies and big bad corporations and how they need to pay up and give them a free ride.

EDIT: Forgot I wanted to ask, What the heck is wrong with jailbreaking and why do we/he want revenge? That makes zero sense to me. Sheesh, how the heck does that make one iota of difference as to why Apple is throttling our phones
You guys really believe that dude....? Come on man, just look at that sig.....o_O

So multiple lawsuits (See class-action) against Apple, not to mention the country of France, all soapboxing and filing suit over phony conspiracy theories? And your skepticism is fueled by 20 people here on a forum, one of which admitted to jail-braking his phone which proves you long term suspicions and collusion... By all means continue.

The Geekbench scores suggest it's more than 20 people... As a percentage, it's around what, half? are not running at full spec.

Consider that they still sell the 6S so some amount of these devices are new.

Some people are not convinced by facts. What is interesting is that the line between opinion and facts seems to have blurred when it comes to this issue.

Class action lawsuits are a joke, it’s an industry of dirty lawyers launching nuisance actions just to make a quick buck on a settlement, they’re the ones who advertise on “you are not the father” sleaze TV.

You shouldn’t have jailbroken your iPhone. You knew one day you’d pay the price.

OMG, not a dorkbench score, that means soooo much to the average consumer. I mean, my 75 year old mom is checking processor scores on third party apps constantly, in fact she and her mahjong friends each bought a stopwatch to time how long it takes to add a Bitmoji to a Facebook post. It’s vital. Apple is in huuuuge trouble.

You seems to think just bcuase average user doesn't care or you think they don't care, then it is OK for Apple to screwing their customers.

LOL... Your logic works greatly for Apple. I guss, Apple should never offers apology. Apple did you do anything wrong. It is all in the name of protecting its customers.

So many things that I can point out that Apple is focing people spending money they should not have to.

The iPhone 8, iPhone 8+, iPhome X glass back is impossible to replace. Apple has glued Belle out of the glass and the camera lens is mooded into the phone. Apple is charging 350-550 to fix the glass back. While others, like Samsung or LG, users can replace the glass back for less than 50.

Apple has more than one way to screwing customer and milking its cusomter to death.

This sentiment is the problem with many posters. Apple is NOT FORCING YOU TO DO ANYTHING. Don’t like their business practices? Fine. Go buy something else.

Stop your whining and go buy another platform. Or, enjoy what you have, recognize that no company is perfect, and stop acting like little kids who just got their favorite toy broken.

Apple makes changes to iOS 6x a year, making changes to thousands of lines of code each time written by an army of developers on dozens of different teams.
We are not talking about changes that create a new feature, or fix a previously released feature, or implements a patch. We are talking about a fix that directly was responsible for premature upgrades. That type of fix needed to be conveyed to us.

This was no conspiracy.
That's your opinion. It's not fact.

This was an attempt to help loyal iPhone users avoid a shutdown in emergency situations,
You really don't understand the situation as you keep pointing to the solution and not apple's method of communicating that solution.

The unintended consequence is that geeks using a geek app are claiming a slow down that is in number only, can't be felt.
Fist, stop being insulting. A concerned customer used an app to show real evidence. Evidence that was indeed felt as plenty of customers reported a huge increase in performance after a battery change. And that is the crux of the problem. Apple knew a battery change fixed the performance issue due to their throttle. They have admitted this in an apology. Which is why they are now offering the $29 battery swap.

Your entire premise is wrong. Apple a) would never deliberately manipulate a multi-billion dollar market
Nope...they did....hence the apology.

and b) would never do so in a manner by which a high school student could find it so obviously.
Nope....they did.

Only dumb companies do such dumb things. Apple is no dummy.
Wow...you are taking this debacle way to personally and too seriously.

We have a net worth of $15M.
What does this have to do with anything?

It's too much hassle to replace a battery and in the process commit oneself to another year of the same old phone.
Yea, requires way to much energy.

A phone shutting down when it should have 30% battery life left would lead to the purchase of new iPhones, not the purchase of new batteries.
LOL.....hence all the upgrade dollars apple gained by the fix when all a customer needed was a battery swap. Hence why many customers feel jaded by apple.

Apple customers choose Apple because of edgy features and convenience. They're not the change-the-battery type.
You are Speaking for all apple customers now?

If there really was a conspiracy Apple would have never made the power management decision they did, they would have let the batteries die on their own, and they would have stopped selling replacement batteries.
Really? Then why not communicate the solution and explain the options available to the customer?

And who says they are slowing down iPhone 7's to the extent that it can be felt by the user? No one. Unless someone has jailbroken the phone or is letting their phone go down to 2% battery each day.
Wow...you really do not understand the situation

Before this whole phony scandal started, my wife and I owned 2 iPhone 6's and my 3 kids owned iPhone 6S's before getting 4 iPhone X's. We have a net worth of $15M. We are not frugal. It's too much hassle to replace a battery and in the process commit oneself to another year of the same old phone. I would argue most iPhone owners are looking for reasons to get the cool new version, not hold onto the old one. Apple is not catering to the Craigslist crowd. That is an unintended consequence of all those heavily subsidized phones back in 2015.

And who says they are slowing down iPhone 7's to the extent that it can be felt by the user? No one. Unless someone has jailbroken the phone or is letting their phone go down to 2% battery each day. My kids usage patterns are similar. Their backlights are on 23 hours a day, Snapchat alerts, Instagram alerts, streaming movies, sending texts, the phones get no rest, their screens are always lit, draining the battery to a premature death.

And if that happened? I wouldn't blame Apple. I'd blame my kids. Let them find $79, let them get a ride to the mall, let them wait for the repair. I wouldn't cry like an entitled brat needing a safe space. I'd take responsibility for my own actions, or in this case, my teens.
Have you got shares in apple??? If apple done nothing wrong why not tell people why keep it a secret. And apple themselves said the iPhone 7 is affected by the slow down issue

What does this have to do with anything?
It doesn't. He's mentioned it a couple of times. I guess he thinks it makes his opinion of the situation more credible than anyone else's.

Wow...you really do not understand the situation
He doesn't care to. Things that don't affect him, don't really exist, in his world.

Your assumptions are epic. I never said I jailbroke my phone. Never said people were brainwashed. Your idea of reality obviously differs from mine. Really not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. You contest and so eloquently belittle just about everyones opinion.

At this point I can deduce from your comments that you think there is a conspiracy orchestrated by dirty lawyers, most of the problems are caused by jailbreakers with old phones, and everyone is wrong except Apple. It is safe to say you have made your point, as you do multiple times a day here. Your thinking is flawed and your unwavering defense of Apple does not make sense. People here have genuine concerns. Your belittlement of their concerns is insulting.

I can see you're not a fan of consumer protection. If your ISP stealth nerfed your internet speed I guess you would have no issues with that as well because they're not forcing you to use their service.

Nobody is forcing you to read or respond to any of it, but here you are getting all worked up and emotional over other people discussing the issue.

We have money. If our iPhones get slow we just buy a new one. Android people never get this.

Wow...you really do not understand the situation

Sure I do.

Apple tweaked it’s power management protocol, a high school student found some code hiding in plain sight, entitled people with old phones started asking for a handout and were looking forward to a long fight.

Apple quickly apologized, offered a deep discount on a replacement battery, and defused the situation. Instead of seeing huge lines for battery replacements and massive news stories on the subject, very few are having any slowing issues, the phony scandal has quickly faded into yesterday’s news and that makes the truthers unhappy and are seeking a safe space shoulder to cry on in threads where they act miserable instead of grateful.

That sums it up nicely.

Too bad it has nothing to do with jailbreaking. Apple cheats on all phones.

I believe strongly that the phones suffering from slowdowns are old, used, and jailbroken. So they get what they deserve. Finally. That’s what they get for tampering.

You believe utterly wrong.

Apple admits itself it is cheating on phones as new as iphone 7 on ios 11.2 and mentions nothing of jailbreaking.

Apple got caught for being a cheat, exactly what it is.

Lol. I didn’t say anyone was forcing me to do anything. Unlike teddy who said apple was forcing people to spend money. Maybe you didn’t read or understand all the posts.

The only people worked up are you guys who demand something more than you have. What that is, I’m not sure. I don’t think you even know.

Emotional? Not even close. Amused is more like it.

That is correct. If my isp enacted policies that I found untenable, I’d find another one. If enough people did that, they’d be forced to change their policies or go out of business.

That’s consumer protection. The ability and responsibility to change my buying behavior. Not get on an Internet forum and cry about it.

If they would’ve read the terms and conditions before hitting the agree button they would understand that Apple has no responsibility in the situation at all and are actually being quite magnanimous in the reaction to make a few disgruntled jailbreakers happy:

Apple did not admit to cheating, they admitted to miscommunicating a decision they made to power manage and help owners with old phones who are still complaining even after Apple magnanimously gave them a $50 discount on a battery even though they didn’t need to. Say thank you to Apple. Stop calling them names.
