I met Marc Ford last Thursday at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach CA where he was playing material from his new album due out tomorrow. He's been involved with Ben Harper and was the Black Crowes lead guitarist since the Southern Harmony & Musical Companion CD. Briefly reunited with the Crowes during their "Freak n Roll" reunion tour and DVD release.

Our meeting was not of fan vs. celebrity though. It was more padawan learner speaking to a Jedi.

It would be a serious injustice if he didn't go down in history as one of the greatest "pure" guitar players of all-time, IMHO.

Well, there was a movie/tv show being filmed right around the corner from my bus stop, and when my bus came, it had to sit in the middle of the road while they were filming the scene. Needless to say, I was late for school, but it was worth it.

I've met all of the members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. In fact, my wife and I have been good frieds with Joseph Shabalala (the leader of the group) for more than 15 years. He even calls our daughters his "grand daughters."

Its great being able to get into sound checks and concerts gratis.

Met him once in a pub in Paddington. I was rather drunk with a bunch of friends, and one of them dared me to go up and ask "Can I have your autograph, Mr Paxman", but I couldn't stop laughing when I did it.
Jeremy told me to **** off :D

If i ever met Clarkson, Cars wouldnt really be on the agenda. I would rather talk about politics etc. Or even music. He likes The Who you know. ;) :D

Dont know if this would be considered a 'celebrity sighting', but while taking the subway to work, ive walked past Mark Pender (trumpet player on the Conan O'Brien show). He looked Real pissed off, and was walking extremely fast...he kinda wisked past me and caught me off guard, i turned around to see what the hell blew by me and was like...'hey thats mark pender...'

Besides that, because i work on Wall St., i've seen President Bush pull up with his whole entourage to visit the NYSE, Federal Hall, etc. This kinda sucks because it takes me (Literally) 10 min to cross the street to get to work!!

o and Jessica Alba is a friend....with benefits ;)

ps- heres a fun game, guess which one of these statements is false :D

o, i do have this friend who is actually a med student, but Loves working as an extra in whatever he can get his hands on. This has exposed him to countless big time celebrities including Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Robert Deniro, etc. And since he is an Extremely out going guy, he has approached and had discussions (45min talk about the knicks with Spike Lee recently on the set of 'MONY') with numerous celebs. He used to have this site up with all the pics he has taken with them....but i cant seem to remember it.....

I make my living in the film industry. Too many celebs to list...
The cool thing though, is that most of them are so normal. You can talk to them about anything and most are very kind about having conversations with you.

Sweet!

I've worked with Michael Schumacher, Javier Bardem, Pedro Almodovar, Alejandro Amenábar... And some other famous french and spanish actors and film makers.

I don't know how I missed this, but did you meet Mr. Schu, and how I can do the same? (without traveling to random Shell stations in Germany)

Theres a few famous faces round here, Paul Scholes (England Footballer), some actors with forgetable names. Lots of Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actor folk too, too many to count.

I don't buy into the whole adoring celebrity thing though. I was at my ex-girlfriends chippy having a natter over the counter when a short ginger guy carrying a baby walked in. I had no idea who it was but I held the door open for him and he said thanks and that. Turned round to a star struck girlfriend and she said "you do know who that was, right?" as he opened the door to some Lotus or posh car.

Had a meeting with some actors for a script I was writing too.

The guy who played Martin Platt in Corrie used to annoy me. My aunt lives a few doors down from him and he thinks he owns the village. Tried to shut down a local public footpath!

and Dave Spikey, Paul Daniels. some others too.

Who was the short red-haired guy?

I dunno. I can only think of Damon Alburn from Blur (we grew up in the same town), Mel-C from the Spice Girls, Howard Marks, Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone, Rosie Boycott, and... I met Angela Lansbury when I was a kid.

I talked to Randy Quaid this evening.

I met him at a pre-screening of "Goya's Ghosts," an impressive historical fiction film that opens July 20 in the U.S. (It's been out since last year in Spain.) He plays King Carlos IV. The film also stars Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem, and Natalie Portman.

If you watch the YouTube trailer, you'll see Quaid briefly at 00:33/2:23.

The cool part was that he laughed when I said something (that I hoped was) funny.

Well, you've to work in the film business, and once in a while (or often), it happens. We were filming him in a swimming pool, so nothing fancy to tell. Just "Hi", as I can barely speak german, and he was the client (vodafone) superstar and as mere non-millionaire mortals were not advised to talk to him... Pretty bad actor, btw. For trivia, he came to the hotel in a black, tinted glass Porsche Cayenne, and left in a SL 500 or 600 Mercedes AMG. :p

I had always dreamed of meeting Bono in person and talk with him about his charity work. He's an amazing person.

I prefer it when he met Charles Bukowski and Bono was a big fan of his. He asked Bukowski to sign a book of his poems and in it Bukowski wrote "Humanity ... you never had it." Bono trots off and recites this without apparently seeing the implication of what Buk wrote. Genius.:)

On Friday I was driving home from Iowa after a long week at work. About halfway home, in the middle of nowhere Illinois, I pull off for some gas and a bite to eat. Unfortunately, the only reasonably fast restaurant was a Burger King, so I stopped in.

As I'm standing there waiting for my order, in walks Anthony Michael Hall. Many of you may remember him as a child actor in Weird Science, etc., but he also stars in USA Network's The Dead Zone.

Given the circumstances, I originally figured it was just some guy that looked like him, but it was some guy that looked like him, was headed to California (he mentioned it to the order taker), was driving a Porsche Carrera 911 S, and was apparently dating his girlfriend.

So I'm pretty sure it was him. I'm not one to bug someone, so I didn't ask him for an autograph or anything, but it was quite odd seeing him in that particular locale.

That's a cool sighting. I think The Dead Zone is a great show.

AMH was also on Saturday Night Live for a year. Have you seen photos or video of that? He looked like a little kid back then!
