Hello,

I'm looking to purchase my first hermes band, but I'm quite torn between the Ébène and Fauve Barenia Deployment buckles. I have seen some photos of the Fauve patina that was shared on the thread.

Does anyone have photos of the Ébène patina to share?
Not my patina (got it used) but love the look. Def should have waited, could have gotten it newer and cheaper but it was the initial peak of my Hermes fever. Bonus Barcalounger patina.

If you buy a luxury object for the resale value, then you should not buy any luxury object. If you buy a luxury object, you should only do it, because you want to use it, because you like it. I got the S5 Hermès simply just because I like the watchfaces. I am wearing the watch every day.

What "luxury object" is a plastic "Louis Vuitton"-bag? It is a piece of plastic (sorry...) with "Louis Vuitton" printed on it.
We are not talking about diamonds or gold here.

If you hesitate, better buy some Apple or Amazon stock. They have a high resale value...
But they are not really something to enjoy, as you just own more money afterwards.

What one really should value, is the luxury, to be in the comfortable position being able to do it. Some gratitute would not be wrong...

I got $780 for my good condition S5 Hermès (didn’t include the leather band, just the sport band). I got roughly 55% of the original cost back. Could have gotten ~70% of the value back if I included the band.

either way, it doesn’t matter. I wore it every single day for the last year. Something that gets that much use, like a bed, can’t have a price put on it.

if you have to bulk at the price and resell value, then Apple sells the stainless steel with some nice leather band options at $400 less.

You enjoyed it, just as I still do. It is just that, what matters.
...with some gratitude towards whomever, to be able to do it.

To be fair though, resale on Birkins and ties is pretty good.

If the Apple bands were 'nice' none of us would be here, methinks. Those things are the MDF of leather.

There's a local store here in San Diego that specializes in selling/reselling Apple stuff, they're called Quality Macs. You can check them out at qualitymacs.com or go straight to their business arm that does the quoting for used gear, at cashforyourmac.com and create quotes for a variety of items. They lock in the offer quote for 30 days and supply a prepaid FedEx shipping label. I've been dealing with them for years, selling my (gently!) used Apple stuff to them.

Not sure how competitive the prices would be compared to other places, but they have always offered better than what Apple ever has, and the no muss no fuss process is hugely convenient to me. Create a quote, drop it off at their store, get a check in the mail a few days later. Having to deal with the huge potential for hassles when trying to sell Apple stuff private party is just not worth it to me to get a few more bucks.

Check them out, I can personally attest to them, and their online or in person customer service has been nothing but stellar.
If I trade-in to Apple will I have to include the strap(s)? I went through Apple's trade-in and it only asked if a strap can be installed and locked into place.

I got the S5 Noir last year as my first Hermes edition. I love the Navy blue single tour band this year.

I am not a fashion expert and need some help. Would mixing the Noir watch with the Navy blue band be a fashion mistake?
Just be aware that the other color bands have silver connectors, so there will be a mismatch.

Tempted to skip the Series 6 this year, but got my new strap fix at Hermes, LOL.

It’s weird that Hermès is selling 44mm Double Tour bands, but Apple isn’t. I always thought of the Double Tour as a women’s band, but perhaps they were getting requests from women with larger wrists. The new Double Tour with Attelage is the most feminine-looking Apple Watch band ever sold.

I only got US$750 for my S5 SBSS Noir Hermès in Australia and I included the noir single tour.
But it’s 50% of the original price and that’s good enough for me. Like most others in this thread, I get enjoyment out of wearing it with the nice leather band and Hermès faces and that alone is worth it for me.

I think it’s pretty cool but yeah the fact that it’s not until now that it’s been available for the 44mm is somewhat telling. I’m a guy and I’ve always liked it in the black so I’m giving it a whirl this time unless Hermès takes forever to ship then I’ll just get the single through Apple. Hope the space black is the same as last year though, the Hermès pictures looks just like the aluminum.

So how many of you are STILL getting the Hermes edition Series 6 after its proven year after year that the Hermes Edition Apple Watches simply don’t retain the value. I can’t even get $600 for my 44mm Hermes Series 4. I might opt for the regular stainless steel model this time around.

Did any of you notice during the Apple event yesterday that there is a watch face that resembles the orange numerical Hermes watchface but obviously without the Hermes logo?

I would, but they still won’t sell me one in NZ. With travel restrictions it’s even harder to pick one up in Aus than it was in February when I bought one for my wife and I don’t feel I can lean on friends in Aus to help again as they are more relatives of friends.

How good does the silver stainless steel resist to scratches compared to the space gray?

It’s not bad. This is a fingerprinty snap of my SS S5 I bought in December which has been used in rotation with an SBSS. I buffed it once with a Cape Cod cloth, but that was a while ago now. Another buff would likely make it sparkle, but it isn’t showing many micro scratches just now.

I have 2 straps, the Indigo/Craie (blue and off white) with orange keeper and the Ebene Barenia (Dark Brown) with Deployant buckle, do you think they would look better with the natural titanium AW or the blue aluminum AW?

I also have the stainless steel link bracelet, would that look better with the natural titanium or the blue aluminum?

I’m planning on keeping my S4 Hermès since I wouldn’t get much for it in a trade-in.

Titanium. Obviously I haven’t seen the blue Alu yet, but the silver and SG Alu look cheap, and I can’t see blue being anything but worse. Also you don’t get the sapphire crystal with the Alu and the glass is noticeably less shiny as well as being quite forum to mark in general use.

As someone else has posted the Navy blue will have silver hardware. Some people don’t mind that and others would never do it. I have worn a dark clue Sport Band with my Space Black Watch and it looks OK, but I usually wear my silver one if that’s the band colour I want.

I couldn’t tell you; I don’t really know either brand, but Cape Cod was what everyone recommends and I found it online here from a vape shop of all places.

It feels to me like the same polish that came on wadding branded as Duraglit in the UK, and very similar to what is sold as Brasso in a bottle, so my guess is that they are all pretty much the same.

An impregnated cloth might be better for the watch simply as I hold the Watch and rub it on the cloth which I put on a flat surface, rather than try to hold the smallish Watch and rub it with the wadding. I also think it’s best not to rub the glass so you don’t risk taking the oleophobic coating off.

As a man with a 40mm I empathize, all the bands I want are 44 only (green!).

The red/blue at least justify going Alu IMO. They look nice in renders.

That said, I will get SS/Hermes as long as it is offered. I want my want to look and feel like.. a watch. Whenever I hear people tout the lighter weight of thr Alu models as a plus I’m like “Uhhhh”.

Can’t wait I have the S5 SBSS & love it but switch off every year with the SS. My SBSS still looks perfect though!

Ja, Apple might offer the 44mm double tour bands later in the year or keep it exclusive to the boutiques. I always had a fondness for the double tours but my wrist is to girthy for the short 40mm straps. I’ll see how it looks but will primarily wear it with my S5 Hermès SBSS.

I have the 44mm and I’m tempted by the 44mm noir double tour now offered on Hermès’ website.

Any guys on here have worn a double tour before? Any pics to share?
