So how many of you are STILL getting the Hermes edition Series 6 after its proven year after year that the Hermes Edition Apple Watches simply don’t retain the value. I can’t even get $600 for my 44mm Hermes Series 4. I might opt for the regular stainless steel model this time around.

Did any of you notice during the Apple event yesterday that there is a watch face that resembles the orange numerical Hermes watchface but obviously without the Hermes logo?

Well let’s be honest here. You are selling your series 4 without the Hermès Band. When you sold the band the watch lost all of its value. So they do in fact hold value if you include the band. Without it its just a watch with couple of different faces on it. And you’re selling a Series 4, so its not even last years model....

Well, the Hermes watch face adds a lot of value in my opinion, it is the reason I have the watch otherwise I would have gone with the standard stainless steel model. Im absolutely in love with the orange numerical watch face and don’t think I can get used to another watch face after using this stunning Hermes watchface for over a year. The battery life on my series 4 is stellar as well easily lasting 1.5 days just as if it was new.
The stainless steel body has wear and tear as any stainless steel watch that was used daily would have.

I understand that you think it has a lot of value, but it doesn’t. Its just a Series 4 without the band. And with watch OS7 the faces are really close to the Hermès face so someone can nearly get the same look on a brand new watch for much less.

Your stainless steel Series 4 is worth about $300 without it the band or any of the Hermès boxe and sport band.

I bought it in January, after the S5 launched from someone who upgraded to the S5. I really bought it for the bands and because it didn’t have the AOD of the S5 I was wearing I only ever used it as a sleep tracker, replacing my SS S0. Also I’m in New Zealand, where the Hermes was only available in S2. We didn’t have an LTE provider for the Watch until December last year so we didn’t get any LTE Watch models until then, and we still don’t have Edition or Hermes (fingers crossed that changes with the S6...). Lastly here in NZ there is an eBay-like auction site called Trademe which got the predominant market share many years ago, so NZ stuff is rarely on eBay, and we don’t have any of the other sites US people are familiar with like Mercari, Craigslist etc. Oddly we don’t even have Gumtree which is prevalent in the UK even though I believe it’s original Australian. I wear 42/44mm.

So, with the caveats listed I paid NZ$800 (~US$535) for the S4 imported from the UK (so the LTE is the same as an NZ one now we have it available) in very good used condition with the Indigo/Craie/Orange band. I sold it on a few months later (because I bought a SBSS S5 Watch to alternate with my SS S5 to see how I like the black casing, and I’d also bought the bands only that came with an S3 Watch so had a second orange Sport Band). I listed it for NZ$620 (~US$415) with only the orange Sport Band and it sold quickly, so perhaps I undersold it.

It seems that Hermes Watches, when they come up in NZ, go for even less than they do in other countries - at least from my eBay listing observations. Last week I paid NZ$850 (~US$570) for an almost unused S2 NZ market Hermes with the original Fauve Barenia plus a Feu Epsom, Milanese Loop, orange Sport Band, black Classic Buckle, plus a nylon buckle and three Sport Loops (and a few non-Apple bands). I currently have that sitting at NZ$210 with a week to run in an auction, again with only the orange Sport Band.

I’m interested to know what will happen if the Hermes models become available in NZ again - I suspect used values will rise as it will become better known - most NZ buyers probably don’t know the Hermes Watch is a genuine thing, or how much it costs, as they don’t see it being sold anywhere here. Paradoxically it cost me over NZ$3,000 to get my wife a S5 38mm Hermes with a double-tour band in March as a birthday gift - I had to buy it from Apple Australia, shipped to a friend with an Aus address, and then on-shipped to me in NZ. That meant I had to pay sales tax in Australia and NZ as well as the additional shipping which wasn’t cheap with the required insurance.

I didn’t know the S2 Hermes was available in NZ. I think it is extremely rude that the Hermes and Edition are STILL not available in NZ as we have LTE watches now. Do Apple think kiwis can’t afford it? Correct me if I’m wrong, Aus and NZ share the same model anyway, so frustrating!!

Do you know any other countries sell the SS but not the Hermes and Edition?

Hi everyone,

My Noir deployment clasp went to preparing for shipping today. Now if my SBSS 44mm series 6 would do that I would be a happy camper. I just shipped my Hermès series 5 SBSS out to its new owner and I am already missing it. Series 6 Hermès cannot get here soon enough!!!!

I think it was a bit convoluted to get the S2 in NZ. Back then I had a SS S0 and the S2 didn’t tempt me to upgrade so I only half paid attention to it. When I bought the used one a couple of weeks ago the seller said he got it in Sydney, but the box had the NZ designation on it.

Aus and NZ Watches are the same as European ones - I’m pretty sure there are only two Watch models (in terms of radios, though the 5GHz S6 may have more because of WiFi differences), but even between Aus and NZ the boxes are marked differently (I think - the NZ ones don’t mention Aus as I recall - I’ll check my wife’s Aus Hermes later if I remember).

I haven’t checked if anywhere else gets the same treatment, but I imagine there will be others. NZ got the S0 a couple of months after the launch countries, but when we did it included the original S0 Edition in real gold that cost NZ$24,000 or so IIRC.

Well ... I got impatient! :) Ordered at 2:45PM ET on Tuesday the 44mm S6 SBSS Noir Single Tour, set for delivery on Sept 21-23. Problem: as of this AM, status was STILL "Processing", and the authorization on my card dropped.

Went to Apple Store's site, just to see current ship estimate. BUT THEN: I noticed that the same watch I had on order was available for pickup TODAY. So I canceled my Tues order (still at "Processing"), and ordered the same watch for pickup at my local Store.

Glad I did. Obviously I have it already ... but I got something else I don't think would've arrived with a shipment: the Apple Watch Hermès shopping bag in the photo! (Hey, it's "something!")

Here was the real shocker: I was expecting my SBSS watch to be packaged in the Black Hermès box (which I'd seen used for the Series 5). Instead it came in the same orange box as the Silver SS.

BTW - does anyone know how to change the color of the NUMBERS on the Hermès faces? Or even IF they can be changed?

I will be receiving this tomorrow per Fedex track by reference number. Really am still hoping to receive my watch early too. This band is being shipped from Rialto, CA which is not far from where I live in Los Angeles.

The black box was the limited edition aspect of the launch of the black series 5, they went away right around December.

You know given the state of the world right now and all that people are going through I feel kinda stupid looking forward to receiving my watch. It just gives me something to enjoy and look forward to because the last 6 months have been really difficult with quarantine here in Los Angeles.

I’m immune suppressed so I really can’t go out very much. So waiting for my watch takes my mind off of things for a little while. Anyways I just wanted to share that I know folks have it tough, I have been donating to local food banks in Los Angeles. I just wanted to say say this.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy and enjoys their new watch. It’s been a tough year for everyone.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with anticipating your watch arriving! In fact, given all that is going on in the world and all you’ve been through being immune suppressed in the midst of a pandemic, I’d say it’s totally normal! We all could use a mental break from the past half a year (!!!) and sometimes getting new stuff helps facilitate that. That said, it’s always a good idea to recognize how fortunate we are and help those who need help.

Enjoy your new watch in good health!!

Thanks for the "education" PieTunes!

I honestly never knew that the black box was a "limited edition" packaging;I only saw the black box this past May when I was contemplating the 44mm SBSS Series 5 and saw a few reviews and videos.

Part of me makes me glad that mine came in an Hermès orange box -- for the same reason I'm looking to get the orange sports band!

Thank you so much. That is so kind of you! Yes this year has been a b**ch. i am also a 2x breast cancer survivor so Covid has really been difficult. My doctors have miterrally banned me from going anywhere. I really appreciate your comments. I have always met really nice people on this forum. I just felt bad being so excited about it.

Let me add my voice to everyone else's on this subject! Especially for YOU, who goes out of your way to bring light to others at this time, there's nothing wrong (in fact, it's obligatory) in NOT forgetting yourself.

And ESPECIALLY with you, who have to shelter: your situation makes it obvious that you're not getting an Hermès watch to show off. I know your mindset: it's not important for the world to know - or even your friends to know. It's only important for YOU to know.

And tomorrow: you can make us jealous with your Noir Deployant band :-D KIDDING!!!

I have a Series 4 SS Hermes and opted for the Series 6 Graphite SS with the Milanese Loop and I already miss the Hermes band and watch faces. Also find the Milanese Loop super uncomfortable for some reason so going to exchange it and pick up the Series 6 Space Black Hermes with Noir band tomorrow. Cant wait!

Honestly watching everyone get excited and posting arrival pictures about their watch is the best part of this thread each year. Sure, it's just a watch but we've only got so much time on earth and it's best pursing what makes us happy. For some, that's a Hermes Apple Watch.:apple:

The Milanese under a bright interior light like a halogen bulb really is special. Until you rub your arm through your hair and the Milanese grabs and rips your hair out.?

This one looks closer to it. Point being that without the band, there is little reason to pay for a Hermès watch face.

With that being said, I own the S5 Hermès and have and S6 on the way as I also love the watch faces. But in your case of selling your S4, it lost the main reason for its value when you got rid of the band and box that everything came in.

It was either start shaving my arms regularly or get the Hermes, feel better going with the Hermes ?. Will be picking it up at Apple Fifth Ave this afternoon ?

Anyone know when the Hermès stores will have the AW6 in stock? Also, by looking at the Apple site, it looks like the faces varie by the color band you select. Is this true? Thanks!

Espo:

This is my first Hermès watch; so take this reply as one from a complete noob!

Having said that: the Watch app on my iPhone IMPLIES that there are special faces based on the color of the Hermès watch itself, not necessarily the band. On my SBSS S6, I see special "Noir" faces. I do, however, also see Hermès faces where you can select certain colors ... such as "Bambou" to match the color of the Bambou band.

As far as stock AT Hermès, you'd probably have to call the individual boutique. I DID see a post from someone who has an AW shipping from hermes.com.

Where did you get your S6? From Apple store? I feel like they wouldn’t stock them. Thanks!!
