That's pretty much how mine turned out, just a wee bit darker. I'm not one to get sweaty or anything while wearing it, I think all leather just mellows as it mellows.

It's rather funny, though. I sold my Hermes recently (about to ship it today, in fact, as I bought a S3) and I had more than one person ask me if the band was the original because it wasn't the same color. Do people not understand how leather works? :D
The average person doesn't get the whole patina thing, I'm almost positive.

All I know is I shower with mine every week...helps wash all the character off. JK!! don't do this. the character is the whole point. The patina delvelops in a way that makes each band look different...it's a very special quality of fine leather.

The title of this thread needs to be changed. The Hermès AWs are in no way Editions. Look at Apple’s site

They are indeed more premium in fact! lol I think the OP was referring to it being a version, rather than implying they're editions... as in sports edition, stainless steel edition etc.

Oh ok. I just noticed the Edition part was capitalized, and as an ceramic Edition owner. There is a big difference between owning a Hermès and an Edition Watch.

Not really, the Hermès are actually more expensive, so some would say they are more of an edition if you know what I mean.

In terms of the band yes, but the Watch not at all. You have a much more premium material used in the Edition than the Hermès. Yes the leather strap can in fact make it more expensive, but that could be said about buying a SS with link bracelet. I could go out and get a premium leather strap for my AW that is not Hermès and make it more expensive. It’s about much more then a band. There is something much more special about the Edition.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but people have different tastes and therefore different ideas on what they consider an edition. I used to have the Edition too, but returned it to Apple as the white didn't look professional enough for work, I then purchased a Hermès and love it.

You do also get the special 'edition' watch faces too... ;)

Yeah I understand what your saying, I just think Apple makes a very distinct difference between their Edition and their Hermès Watch. The Edition is suppose to their top of the line Watch. There is something special about it.

I'm surprised they don't sell an Hermès "Edition" with a ceramic case for, say, $1,999.

I agree, but I honestly think the OP was just meaning version...

edition- a : one of the forms in which something is presented <this year's edition of the annualcharity ball>

The Hermès Watch is an edition of the Apple Watch. The Edition model is also an Edition, it’s just that Apple chose to call it The Edition instead of something else.

Ever say a word so many times that it starts sounding kind of funny?

I understand the definition, but you have to look at the naming. Apple calls the Hermès Watch just the Apple Watch Hermès. The ceramic is called the Apple Watch Edition. The OP decided to capitalize the Edition which Apple does making it seem like it was referred to as an Edition which it’s clearly not by Apple. I simply saying the title needs a bit of an adjustment.

It’s standard practice to capitalise every word in a subject though...

I own both the the Hermes and Edition Series 2 watches and am purchasing both versions of the series 3 (gray ceramic and Ebene deployment buckle) but anyone who knows anything about quality knows that Hermes name means much more than “Edition”. Hermes is truly another level of quality and in my opinion there isn’t another luxury brand that can touch the level of handmade craftsmanship of Hermes.

At the end of the day both watches are mass produced in a Chinese sweatshop, but the Hermes bands are hand made in France.

Along with owning the ceramic Edition, I also own a Hermès band. Yes that band is amazing quality, and something special. That in my mind does not make it an Edition AW. The Edition has been reserved for the most expensive highest quality watch material Apple makes (again I am talking just the quality of the Watch). The Hermès is just a simple SS. The band is what makes the Watch special, but you can do that without buying the Hermès Watch. You can’t just get a band and make it a ceramic Edition Watch.
