I mean when mama in Morning Show had SBSS+Noir it was instantly recognizable, yet so understated and tres chic. And to say a luxury item could be confused with a knock-off from whatever distance…yeah, of course, that’s why knock-offs sell so well.

Also for AOD Hermes owners (so jealous)…those faces are pretty indicative you own the swaggy luxe piece, no?
I would say it's still pretty subtle - it doesn't scream HERMÈS and you'd only recognize it if you know what you're looking for. I only recognized the SBSS Noir in the Morning Show because I know about it, but to the average person it looks just like a regular SBSS watch (I don't think the screen with Hermès watch face was even on in the show).

Yeah I think it’s that dagger-like tip of the tongue band. Obviously not the most unique thing…and yet it gets my juices flowing, as a fan. I think it gets at this exact je nes sais quoi of Hermes style

Although many of us buy them for the well made straps or the exclusive faces. I’m sure plenty of people on the FENCE said why would I pay 5 times more for something that doesn’t look that different. After all luxury items are about the quality and the exclusivity but to many people it’s also about others knowing you have something nicer and they want it too..
IMO, I have spotted bands in the wild (knock-off or not), and with the Always On feature, you can glance at the watch resting on someone's wrist and notice of it is Hermes or not by various distinct features (e.g., typeface on the Hermes face, or the bold Circuit H face itself). Also, while Nike Edition may be less expensive, it also has no other unique features than its bands and faces.

Ultimately I think it comes down to the owner who paid for it and the pleasure they derive from it. There are various luxury brands who make items that may not be readily recognizable to the masses, but the people who own them like them for reasons like quality, reliability, etc.

The Birkin doesn’t shout at you like a Gucci, and yet I think the quality of the leather and the dye job is why it became so iconic.

And for the same reason, once everyone on here gets their first Hermes band, they get it.

In fairness to OP, I do look at listings for the s3 watch and think about that one face with no complications and that watch feels a little frivolous. But the Circulaire, and now the Circuit, which they totally could have made an s7 exclusive…those typefaces and lewks now more than justify the price tag.

The Jumping Single Tour, a before and after story:

A very quick cleaning, soaked for a minute in spray dish soap, worked with just my thumbs; can’t get rid of the crease but previous owner had a bigger wrist so I won’t see it. I’ll let it dry and see what’s soil and what’s just dampness.

Received my Blue Saphir/Orange jumping band in the mail a couple days ago. Purchased it directly from Hermes since it’s no longer listed on Apple’s website. I have to say I’m a little bit disappointed. The color and design are great. But, the old Apple woven nylon bands are some of my favorites, and while I knew to expect the Hermes nylon to be a bit thicker and stiffer, it just doesn’t feel as comfortable as the old Apple nylon ones.

The edges are rougher than the old Apple nylon and the back of the retention loop is a bit scratchy as compared to the perfectly smooth one-piece loop Apple used on their nylon band.

I’m hoping it’ll break in a bit. I’m keeping it - I’m not disappointed enough to send it back, but it seems a bit less elegant than what I was expecting.

I have never had the Appke woven nylon bands. However some YouTube videos suggest the Jumping and Woven Nylon bands are very different and not really comparable. Also, was the Jumping from 2022 or 2021. The 2022 are reported to be slightly less scratchy.

I’m not sure when the Bleu Saphir/Orange one came out. It is a 45mm size (versus 44mm) but not sure if it’s considered a 2021 or 2022 band.

I suspect it is 2021. Perhaps someone on here, more knowledgeable about Hermes can tell us.

The Hermès Bleu Saphir/Orange was one of the first Jumping bands to be released in Spring of 2021. I have a 2021 in Rouge de Cœur/Rouge H and it‘s more comfortable after wearing it for a while. I have also noticed that taking mine into the shower helps to soften it a bit.

As said down thread just give it some time, they’re mondo comfortable. Let us know how the ordeal of trying to un-latch it is though.

I find that on the same hole, as the leather band, the Jumping band is slightly looser. Is that common?

Moreover, can’t make the Jumping band any tighter without it becoming impossible to unlatch.

That looks brand new!
Did a second, longer soap soak, donated a toothbrush to my band collection and can only see the old crease and maybe the discolored area from very extreme angles.

But maybe that’s also just the light hitting it at a different angle because it’s creased?

Also took some grooming scissors to loose threads on each side around the hole the previous owner used, there was some slight fraying.

Feels like my new favorite over Rouge/Rouge even if there is somehow no Lime face option.

@Howard2k i don’t see this as a doctor issue. I tried the sport loop and it left marks on the underside of my wrist. It also left a slight skin rash. Interesting, I so far do not have issues with the Hermes jumping band. I also had similar issues with thec with the Apple leather link, but not with the Hermes leather bands. I also found the leather link difficult to fasten at times.

At some point in time, I would like to visit Hermes and see how I do with the deployment band, but that still leaves open a good alternative for the hot humid summer days in NYC, when I might be concerned about wearing the leather band.

Does anyone wear the leather band in the summer when it is hot and humid?

I also tried the Apple Link Bracelet, but find the clasp hard to manage.

Being born with CP and vision in one eye, presents “band challenges” to say the least.
I think as a general rule wearing a leather band during hot and humid weather is a bad idea because you’ll get a tacky feeling after a while, besides the danger of it getting “wet”. But I don’t sweat much and compared to other leather bands, the Hermès leather band is very comfortable. I don’t get that tacky sticky feeling. The sports band feels clammy to me in hot and humid weather. The Nike sports band with the holes eliminates 95 % of the clammy-ness. I have one Jumping from Fall 2021 and bought a Spring 2022 Jumping because I read it’s softer and even more comfortable than the Fall 2021 versions. Soon I’ll be able to test how they are in hot and humid weather. And because the Jumping is waterproof I’ve been giving it a light wash with Neutrogena soap after every time I wear it. I think that softens the Fall 2021 version, and cleaning every time I wear it keeps it from building up dirt. Cleaning the sports band every time you wear it also keeps the dirt from building up, but over time makes the sports band a bit dull looking. Seems that the shiny coating on the sports band gets washed off. Since I like cleaning my AW often I only wear it with a leather band for a few days at a time, then switch out to a band that I can clean with Neutrogena soap. I use Neutrogena because it’s supposed to be a gentle facial soap and also because its not too sudsy, very easy to rise out. Then I use the water ejector on the AW a few times or until I can hear that all the water has been ejected. Hope this helps.

Is this leather wear normal?! Owned the strap since early Jan of this year, so just over 4 months.

@GlambOne By “leather wear” are you referring to the band’s underside? The band is supposed to patina, so I don’t know if what you are showing is beyond that?

Underside is fine. However on both sides of the band the leather appears to have split, or has worn down. Note the lighter, white patches.
