What is the best way to clean the Hermes leather bands? How often shoukd I clean them? Thanks.

TIL when you only have four numerals the color shifts to the thicker hour/minute hands!

Casually browsing this thread I‘m really surprised how few Hermès owners seem to use this particularly elegant variation of the regular „Hermès“ watch face (4 digits, especially in the espace font, and „fat“ coloured hands). Apple Watch will never look better than this.

Regardless of color gains it really grows on you! Full numerals can look so busy to me now. I even use four-up on orange numerals sometimes. And one numeral is so fun on blanc.

Does anyone think we'll ever get new Hermes watch faces?
The smart money is on a new one in fall 2023, since they just did one in 2021 and also that Circulaire got kinda jacked to make the Metropolitan face for regular watchOS. Last time they did that (California), a year later there was a new Hermes face.

But maybe Apple loves us and will drop a new one because Circuit is pretty decorative and also so tied to the S7 roll-out. All the new watchOS 9 ones give me a little hope because why wouldn’t they want Hermes to get a cool horology/astrology focused one. That really fits the Hermes vibe.

The big question is will they cycle Circuit bands back in the way Rallye came back after a break…simply the advent of more Circuit face colors would be so fun.

Thank you. A couple of us want to know how you clean your Jumping Single Tour bands. We would appreciate it.

Jumping…have no hesitation to really get in there, its a waterproof/swimming band. I just got my second used one in and soaked it for hours on end in dish soap water. Take a toothbrush to it with medium force along the grain of the fibers for visible soiling. Be wary of any frayed ends as you don’t want to lift them up off the band further. I took some cuticle scissors to my Kraft/Lime and cleaned up some of that as well.

Leather you do want to be very careful. Prevention is the best medicine. Don’t wear it for too long, keep it dry, yadda yadda.

My improvised method for cleaning Swift or Gala leather (Barenia turns moisture into patina!) is to wet one side of a cotton swab for a controlled bit of moisture to lift dirt, and then quickly use the dry side of the swab to mop up the moisture. The stem of the swab gives you a decent amount of force to apply, I think.

But leather damage/aging is pretty permanent at the end of the day. Definitely a nice feature of the old Epsom bands, they’re pretty impervious to stains and clean well and can stand a little more moisture in the cleaning process. Though the edges are like any other band and will get permanent damage.

Another conversation is conditioners. I don’t know that the Swift leather would really benefit from it. Certainly Gala is pre-waxed and doesn’t need it. Early in all of this I did receive a mint Barenia Rallye, got one drop of water on it, didn’t realize it would fall through the “window” of the leather and begin the patina process.

So I freaked out and doused the whole thing in coconut oil (which i was doing with my Leather Loops back then because they were so damn creaky and we know how those edges age) and darkened it. I think it looks better than the really bleachy new-fauve-Barenia look and I feel like i stupidly backed into the right move, as it has an even “tan” instead of slowly watching random splotches of patina build up across the band like my fauve deployant?

I would love for someone to douse a Swift in their leather conditioner of choice and see how the color fared. I feel like that magical color dye Hermes is so good at would hold up and then you get the benefit of fending off the leather becoming more cracked and grainy over time, especially as it slowly cooks in ambient and bodily moisture.

It definitely only helps the leather loop color and I’m certain I doused my Marine Blue classic buckle in coconut oil because it came smelling like a cigar.

I have put leather protector on my Apple original leather buckles (or whatever they call them) and it really has protected it - Not dared tough the two Hèrmes bands I have though. On the saddle brown Apple leather I too rubbed it in coconut oil and it has given it an amazing patina - I will dig it out and post a pic.

Thanks for the info on cleaning bands - just to be 100%, the Jumping is totally waterproof? I have babied mine so far (lol 4 days in) and although I won't go in the hot tub or a swimming pool due to the chemicals, I can shower in it etc?

At the very least I am hopeful for some additional colors -- like Lime -- and maybe a face to match the Jumping Tour (vibrating H) since there are now a bunch of those bands on consumers' wrists.

I showered with the Jumping band for the first time. How long does it take to completely dry?

Yeah Apple mentions swimming in it and I’ve now submerged both these used ones in dish soap water.
