That is definitely Fauve Barenia which is (IMO) one of the best Hermes bands out there. Good luck and enjoy!I have a single tour Attelage Gold that is three months old. It is a LOT lighter in color. I would be suspicious, unless patina could account for the massive color difference. I never purchase used bands. I only purchase from Apple or Hermes. Since I have vision issues, it would be harder for me to spot a “knockoff”, so I avoid the used market. Also, I often take advantage of Apple or Hermes support, so over the long term, I am not bothered by the extra cost.

I see some patina! Legit Hermes fauve Barenia bandHi, i just bought a used hermes gold single tour. Now ive read that there are many fakes around.
Can some of you notice anything that is fishy? I dont have the band yet, the seller sent me these photos. I hope its a real band…
Greetings

So thank you all for pointing out the differences. I looked at the app bandbreite and saw that this fauve band was released 2015!It’s stamped with 44mm underneath so it’s absolutely a Fauve Barénia. (Unless I’m wrong and Gold was pre-Series 7 but I don’t believe it was)
Gold is more uniform in color and finish because it’s Swift leather instead of Barénia, both start out very similar but Fauve will patina darker faster whereas Gold will stay brighter.
Follow up question for the real experts: Fauve was released so long ago that it has 42mm while gold has 45mm. Is 44mm even possible?
Can’t Fauve Barenia also develop a “natural patina” over time even if lightly used? I thought that was the case but I could very well be mistakenFauve is a staple of the Hermès line of bands and was sold through the 42 and 44 mm years. Even today you can buy a 45 Fauve Attelage or Deployant. As the 44 mm years started in the fall of 2018, that‘s the oldest this band you bought can possibly be. Judging by the pictures, „worn once“ is obviously bullsh*t, but I think it has a nice, even patina and the price is about right. I would keep it.

I kept the band, part of the reason is your comment. I love it! thanks for all the insights!Fauve is a staple of the Hermès line of bands and was sold through the 42 and 44 mm years. I was told an employee at Hermès that Barenia leather will develop “natural patina”. They said this can occur from the object barely being used/handled.Absolutely, this is exactly what happened here; new Fauve Barenia bands are a lighter shade of brown.
Maybe I don‘t quite understand the question? Fauve is the colour, Barenia the type of leather.

I’ve seen my Fauve Barenia begin to patina but that’s with daily usage.
Because of what the employee told me I thought maybe the band OP purchased was in fact only worn once. Than again I’m not sure if it would have gotten as dark as pictured without frequent handling.

I just use tap water and let it air dry. No brush. Why not call Hermes or Apple?Does anyone know how to properly clean the nylon Jumping Single Tour bands? I have the orange/bleu sapphire one, and I've noticed the orange is starting to look a little dusty 👀
I've seen some people recommend warm water, and a mild hand-soap, paired with a toothbrush as an option, but I'd like to see what more people think is best!
You’re absolutely right, this was worn more than the person claimed. I didn’t notice the holes at first. All I did was see the gorgeous patina lol I guess the employee told me the “natural patina” thing so I would buy a band that didn’t look pristine (only Fauve Barenia DT they had available).Ah, now I know what you meant. But I don‘t think so. Patina is a reaction of the leather to external factors like the natural oil of the skin, friction against clothing, oxidation, temperature differences, sunlight (UV), rain/humidity etc. So if you wear a Barenia band once and then keep it in a drawer, no patina will develop. Besides, look at the holes of the band. They won‘t look worn like that from wearing the band once. Either way it‘s a gorgeous band and a lot of folks actually want the patina and can hardly wait until it develops, especially when it‘s so nice and even as in this case.
It amazes me why people buy on eBay and then are anxious. The seller was listing the band for $300 for a band that is $319. If people are bothered by the uncertainty and misrepresentation of used then buy new.Speaking of eBay listing that misrepresent the condition of the band, I’m curious if anyone here bothers reporting them. I feel like I see so freaking many listings for Hermes straps where the seller claims the band is “New” or “Open Box” when the pictures clearly show the band has been worn (sometimes excessively with very little care). The link below is a particularly egregious example.

I’m not sure why it bothers me so much but it does. The practice seems to be almost routine with Hermes bands whereas it seems to be fairly uncommon with other Apple bands. I would still consider buying a used discontinued band for the right price. But I don’t like being lied to (especially in such an obvious way). Am I alone on this?

I find it very hard to assess the band as the images are so poor and grainy in quality. the images look like **** but the band might not; or only be worn once.Speaking of eBay listing that misrepresent the condition of the band, I’m curious if anyone here bothers reporting them. I am sure people offer whatever. My point was not so much about the price that might eventually be agreed, but then the buyer is stressed about the possibility of the band being misrepresented or not genuine. Both possibilities exist and if that causes the buyer to be anxious, then maybe they should not buy used. You clearly have never offered a hundred below asking, my friend 😹

We seem to have a fair bit of posts about bands being misrepresented or not being genuine, after the fact. Ultimately how useful are those types of posts.
Again. I don’t buy used tech (computers, smart phones, iPads etc.) or watches or Watch bands. For me, the cost saving is not worth the anxiety.
I am an audiophile and over the years have purchased a good deal of used gear at significant saving. However, all has been purchased from reputable dealers, so I know that what I am getting is genuine and supported. Otherwise I avoid the used market entirely.
