It amazes me why people buy on eBay and then are anxious. The seller was listing the band for $300 for a band that is $319. If people are bothered by the uncertainty and misrepresentation of used then buy new.

I find it very hard to assess the band as the images are so poor and grainy in quality. the images look like **** but the band might not; or only be worn once.
Quite expensive though…
I guess maybe I wasn't clear. I'm not interested in buying the particular band I linked to. I just thought it was a good example of the condition of the band being grossly overstated. Nor was I asking whether it is genuine or if it is brand new. My point was that it seems like sellers frequently list Hermes bands in "New" or "Open Box" condition when the pictures make it obvious that this is untrue. This doesn't seem to happen very often with listings for regular Apple bands (like sport bands) and also is a rather flagrant violation of eBay policies. Since I keep seeing listings like this, I have to assume either nobody is reporting them or that eBay simply doesn't care. That was prompted my question about if anyone here ever reports these listings. I was curious because they annoy me, not because I need help trying to figure out if the band is new or not.

I am in NYC. In hot weather(today 87 degrees) even with moderate humidity (today 38%), my wrist sweats. I am concerned about the Hermes leather bands, under those conditions. Should I be concerned? Am I better to wear the jumping bands during the summer? That would mean I could only wear the leather bands 9 months out of the year. Bummer. I would like to get more use from the leather bands, but I don’t want to damage them. What to do?

You don’t want to wear your leather band every day anyway; it’ll degrade faster if you don’t give it time to rest.

Here are the general leather care instructions Hermès provides: https://www.hermes.com/us/en/story/89726-leathercareinstructions/

You can still wear it during the summer; avoid particularly humid days and sunlight but dress up with it during cooler evenings, etc.. You’re strongly encouraged to swap with the sport band when getting wet/sweaty, and having multiple leather bands to swap around as to not wear any one down quicker is a good idea. Wearing the same leather band every day will degrade it faster as the creases and bends will be constantly stressed with little chance to relax.

The Jumping bands are a good option to swap in, still premium but breathable.

@Vangeli i have three leather bands and three jumping bands. Consequently. switching is not a problem. You seem to suggest the leather bands at night for going out/dress up. Am I correct? I work from home, so needing a leather band for office/ meetings is not really an issue. Thanks for your help.

Well I would agree it is 1,000% not worth it to save $19. As someone who likes designer handbags, I only buy from the boutiques. The risk of paying $$$$ for a fake is so high, that it's not worth it to me to save a few hundred bucks.

However, someone might not be able to afford $319 but will pay $200. I think it's a risk though. Fakes are getting better and better. So good it is hard to tell the difference. It's only the smallest details, that most people miss, that give it away.

Any shots of convincing fakes to share?

Only about 25% of the Apple Watch bands Hermès has made are still officially available; if people interested in acquiring older bands want to make sure they’re getting the real deal then it’s important to stay informed.
Then they should ask before they purchase from the seller. Not after.

All my bands come from Hermes and Apple and none of them have the size stamped on the back. I would like to keep talking about this so if I decide to get one on eBay I’ll know what to look for …

They’ve stopped doing it sometime in the last year at least; I don’t believe there have been any Hermès bands with the 41mm/45mm stamps and some of the 40mm/44mm bands were repackaged as 41mm/45mm when the 7 came out.

Thanks…good to know.

I could be crazy, but at a selling price of $200+, I can’t see the wisdom of used, relative to the anxiety coming from wondering if you have been ripped off.

No, but I collect designer handbags and it's the same thing - fakes that are so hard to tell from authentic. I'm sure it's the same with these watch bands. Someone creates a $50 or $100 fake, passes it off as an authentic and sells it for $200+. I'm sure it happens.
Ok had a feeling that’s what you meant. Fosho

The issue is the rare ones that are no longer sold. I wanted the fall color block that first came out but it had been two years since it was sold. I slept on it for some reason when it came out.

Taking the risk to get it was worth it. I found an unopened one and paid a premium but as far as I know, it was authentic, including the glow in the dark Hermes packaging.

I noticed by way of IG that the VP of press for Hermès and others are in Venice, Italy, and teased something by the way of “Hermès x Apple” happening tomorrow … anyone have any intel on what this may be?

Ooh, that's exciting! Personally, I don't think it's about watch bands, since we're so close to the Series 8 launch. I could be wrong, though.

I'm guessing it could be a portfolio of leather accessories for Apple products? E.g. Hermès leather sleeves for the new MacBooks, AirPods cases, etc.?

Update: the invitees are saying it’s a “two day treasure hunt” and the materials show the following logo with the Apple Watch | Hermès branding:
