I can’t decide on keeping my S8 Hermes or the Ultra. The Hermes bands look surprisingly good with the ultra but it is so chunky. The battery is wild though.
Tough choice. I like the Hermes faces so much more and can’t find any normal Apple Watch faces I like. I know sounds stupid, but may end up keeping the Hermes watch, even though I like the Ultra watch better. Like the flatter screen, brightness, the favorite button and long battery life of the Ultra. If it only had the Hermes face I like. 🙂

Small-wrist people like me don't have such issues (un)fortunately!

How's your battery life on the S8?

Coming from a S5 I'm seeing MUCH longer life with the new watch than I ever had with the old. I never use always-on display but I've been getting close to 2 days life. Could it have something to do with both the S8 and the 14 Pro supporting BT 5.3?

I’m in the same boat. I have a Space Black S8 Hermès on order expected to arrive this week, my first Hermés Watch. I miss the Space Black from my S5. I went to the Apple Store this weekend to check out the Ultra and I kind of like it, so now I’m torn.

I could get both but then what if I just end up wearing one over the other more often?

Decisions LoL…

Totally. While I love the Hermes watch faces, I find myself using the Meridian or California or Infograph Modular faces most often so that doesn't contribute.

I do wear my AW Hermes with nice clothes in my closet, pieces from Dior, Givenchy, and smaller fashion houses when I go to work. That's when the leather bands come out; the Ultra is definitely more utilitarian and I'm not sure how much it'll blend with an outfit for, say, a wedding where the SS Hermes with a single tour works flawlessly with a minimal face.

My wrist is actually tiny (I have to get extra holes in my Single tour 45mm) but somehow the Ultra doesn't look wildly big (and it's lightweight which helps).

Re: battery, it's certainly quite good but I had an S7 which wasn't a huge deal either re: battery; I could comfortably kill it in a full day during the summer with AOD on since the screen brightness ramps up, but the days where I killed it before bedtime were fairly rare unless I went on a very long cellular/BT streaming run. I imagine low power mode can make a difference in that respect but haven't gotten around to testing that much

Same here but the choice is between the S7 and the Ultra. Really like somethings about the Ultra (battery) and dislike others.

Not a fan of paring the Hermes bands with the Ultra. To me it’s like putting a Mercedes symbol on a Honda. No offense. The bands just don’t look right on an Ultra. The height of the ultra is ridiculous imo. Just looks to clunky. To me the Ultra is just not a watch meant to be dressed up with a leather band.

Have you tried IRL? I can post photos later but it’s less strikingly contrasted than you might think.

I haven't tried my Hermes band on my Ultra yet but have tried the green leather link. That seems to be a good pairing, since the leather link is kind of "chunky." I find that I'm very careful with my Hermes leather band, which is the opposite of why I'm wearing an Ultra. I don't want to have to be careful with the Ultra.

Just for reference, on my wrist the Ultra wears very similar to my Tudor Black Bay. In fact, the Tudor is a fraction of a millimeter thicker than the Ultra and one mm longer, lug-to-lug.

First time poster here. Has anyone had their Hermes band fall apart and where did you go to get it repaired? I have a jumping that was purchased this spring and last night when taking it off it, the watch fell off of the band. Thankfully it didn’t break, but a tiny screw came out that apparently connects the metal part that slides into the watch. The screw appears to have a starlike top so a normal tiny screwdriver couldn’t fix it.

Apple support made me an appointment at Genius Bar but I suspect they can’t fix it. The watch band was purchased through the Apple Store app. I would think there is a manufacturer warranty that could handle it but customer support wasn’t able to get that info for me. They recommended I try an Hermes boutique but this is kind of a hassle.

For context, I rarely swap out the bands and have maybe done it 5-10 times max since getting the jumping in March. This is my first non-leather Hermes band so feeling a bit disappointed in the quality. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Contact Hermès directly, their website has support numbers for this kinda stuff. Note: I know the turn around time is looong.

They actually might have the screwdrivers to put it back together at the Apple Store; the lug design is Apple, not Hermès, and the pentalobe screws are used all over Apple devices. As long as you’ve got all the pieces it’s just a matter of screwing it back together.

A stopgap measure for around ten bucks is the screwdriver, if all the parts are intact; if the screw is broken you could put your own in with a less proprietary head, also get some glue in there if you do repair, that’s the apple spec:

Hmm, I see what you’re saying. Not a fan.
I wonder what another silicone/rubber Ultra band in addition to the Ocean would look like. Like a downhill winter sports band. Luge Loop.

Rubbery material with some sort of pattern but less aggressive than the Ocean.

Not gonna lie, goo bands and Hermès don’t look great on Ultra to me. It’s really the leather link and steel bands that aren’t that bad. And of course, the Ultra bands look best.

Not sure a new band design would improve it at all, or what a new band design could even be.

The steel link bracelet looked surprisingly good with the Titanium Ultra.

Should I post yellow ocean on Hermes here when it comes in a sec?
