I don’t find it elegant as I did many of the other Hermes faces
I don't think that 'elegance' was the intention. The copy from the website (emphasis mine):
True to the house’s equestrian heritage, an original watch face brings humor and playfulness to the season’s models. The familiar form of a horse adorns the wrist, its features and colors changing with the mood and the movements of the wrist. A design that enhances any look with a joyful touch.

The gris pâle color really goes well with orange bands though.

If you play around with the Lucky Horse watchface, you'll realize it actually goes with a lot of different colored bands. Really versatile

I think the intention of this year's Lucky Horse is meant to be whimsical after all we've been in the pandemic for too long. Nothing serious. Even Hermes scarves comes in such cartoonish style just for the fun of it.

If you want elegance, previous Herms watch faces are all elegant/ classic, but even Lucky Horse I think is elegant. The contours/ colors are all very French aesthetics. An American fashion house could never come up with such design.

And for folks looking for a spare Hermes sport band. Your best bet is just wait and wait a close enough black or orange sport band from Apple to match your watch. Why hound Hermes over a band that came in your box but got lost, or got worn out, or what not. It's not Hermes' fault. Or you can go secondary market and try to buy one.

Hermes does not produce Hermes sport bands.

And whatever tactics that's been used to get one has now been known, Hermes doesn't want to deal with it anymore.

Hey! Welcome to macrumors. Please read the thread before commenting.

1. Nobody is going to Hermes for sport bands.
2. We go to apple. Because we know apple makes them. Hermes makes the leather band.
3. Apple sells the sports bands to Hermes customers for $49, for people who lose it, damage it etc. Why would we not take advantage of something apple sells?

Have a good night!

lol my post is purposely sarcastic. But yeah we know Hermes only deals with leather bands. Apple does the sports ones

I understand wanting to replace a lost/ damaged Hermes band. But realize, Hermes is "very stingy" when it comes to releasing anything related to their brand even if you pay for it. Hence all the hassle with Apple.

I still think it's much easier to just buy a similar, regular orange or black sport band. There are so many good oranges out there actually. :)

I see it very differently actually.

Let’s talk the ideological view of fashion etc. these brands sell you a style, they pair bands and watches in combinations they want attached to their brand. This is why you technically can’t order some bands with some watches.

Of course you can do whatever you want after it’s your watch, but they are not sending you in that direction, in fact making certain bands in certain finishes like SS means when you pair with SB it’s obvious Hermes style doesn’t condone them being together.

Ferrari take this to a whole new level by enforcing in the contract the colours you’re allowed to spray their cars after market…

Anyway, my point is Hermes sell you a Hermes watch in (sometimes) a unique finish (like SB), with their branding and their face, along with their leather band. They also supply a sports band in their colour that tells you at purchase this product can be used for sports as well.

Now let’s talk real world, the Hermes watch and most other products at the bottom of brand product lines are mainly money spinners.

So what’s the issue? By not supplying replacement sports bands (not for free we are willing to pay) they are basically saying we don’t really care what you pair with it for sports. We don’t really care (enough?) at all about the Hermes Apple Watch, it’s not really a Hermes enough for us to care. Pair whatever you want with it, Nike will do.

Second, since any other part of the Watch parts can be had after market (for a fee or through service), what exactly is the sports band there for? To get a sale from people who need sports and that’s it?

I purchased an entire Hermes product and style from Hermes, not from Apple. The fact they collaborate is not really my concern.

It’s kind of like Ferrari selling you 4x4 Ferrari tyres and wheels to get a few sales and then saying well we don’t supply replacements because we don’t really care at all about off road. Oh so you care enough to get the sale but not after that?

As I said to Hermes this is no longer about a sports band, it’s about the Hermes image, and if they don’t care then neither should I.

It may sound like I’m on my high horse because I want some band, but in fact I’m actually angry. I know the sports band IS just a sales gimmick and in fact so is the Hermes Apple Watch, but to be so blatant and careless about it is a smack in the face.

Easier yes, but why should we have to? It’s not a cheap watch and it’s not a big ask. You pay Hermes prices for lots of things and one of those is service. Here’s is abundantly lacking!

How are you guys storing your bands? At the moment I'm just putting them in a single orange Hermes strap box. But I'd like to have them more "on display" as they are so nice. Any examples out there?

Ah gz! Mine seems also to be moving, finally it is in status "Processing" after complaining yesterday. Still no change in dates but one can hope.

I got some inspiration from the Thread that @Luis0180 mentioned and bought a simple acrylic desk organizer with 3 drawers (for organising documents, they come in many sizes) in a local store and some thin red felt. The felt gives it a nice contrast and prevents the bands from scratching on the acrylic drawers. Costed about 10€ in total so i can't complain

Maybe it's the first time I've owned an Hermés, but I'm amazed at the softness of the leather, unlike any other leather strap I've owned (classic buckle, leather link ....).

There really is something nice about the SB and the edge of the screen feeling like it goes on and on. It’s a bit lost on the SS. SB for me next year I think.

Oh ok I was looking for a black one! If you ever happen to call back and they know what they’re doing please ask about stock of a black for the S8 for me :)
I actually ordered the black Hermes sport band last week and got it within 2 days. I did have to go through Apple Support and give serial numbers for a couple things, but it was easy and painless.

See my above response. So it's not free, but it's not that hard to get a replacement.

LOS ANGELES BABY!!
Hi everyone

Have had my first jumping tour for three days now. Can’t believe I ordered it Saturday and it came Monday. Super fast.

I like it. It’s different than wearing my Hermes leather bands obviously, and it doesn’t get moisture under it like wearing my Hermes sports bands do. It’s a bit stiff getting the pin to go into the right hole but it’s quite comfortable.

It’s my daily driver for now!!

Are the edges of it that fold under the lugs sharp? Having issues on my wife’s 42mm one. It’s actually painful to wear she says.
