probably because also installs watchOS 4.1 :)

1. Paired watch.

2. Got error when trying to set up mobile data.

3. Called EE

4. They sorted out the problem but told me to . . .

5. Unpair watch, and then . . .

6. Pair watch again.

7. Downloaded watchOS 4.1

8. Still installing watchOS 4.1 . . .

I've had the watch for 2h22m so far.

From what I've seen of it I like it.

The deployment clasp was complicated to size. It's a little complicated to put on and take off. But it's more comfortable than I thought. The leather smells deeply of leather, unlike the Apple leather straps I've had in the past.

Happy -- if impatient -- so far!

Oh . .

9. Watch now restarting . . .

Hmm . . . Honestly, I’m not sure I like the strap. I absolutely love the Hermès orange sports strap that you get as a freebie, but the actual Ébène Barenia Leather Single Tour Deployment Buckle . . . I’m not sold on the colour.

Before I decide to send it back, I’d be interested to know if anyone would want to buy the strap. Just the strap, nothing else.

I like the watch, in a weird, fetishy way I love the box, and I love the sports strap, so I kinda want to keep all those.

Let me know . . .

I would totally buy that from you, I have the Fauvena Deployment and love it, but it was hard to pick between the two. I’ll PM you

Do you own an Apple Classic Buckle of the latest (4th) generation with the square buckle? I find those are significantly softer than previous generations.
Bummer, I missed your question. No the latest rev I own is 3, but also because I do not like the rev 4 buckle. IMO too big, but that I just a matter of taste.:)

Interesting to read that you consider rev 4 even softer. The previous bans ar not very flexible indeed, but perhaps I should not compare it with the Hermès Barenia leather...

problem I that the bands can NOT be changed from the deployment buckle, which makes it in fact a very stupid construction :(

Thanks for your comments and advice about my new Hermès Apple Watch on MacRumors.

I think my options are . . .

1. Swap it for a different Hermès Apple Watch — I’ve looked at the others, but I’m not wildly excited about any of them. The Marine Gala Leather Single Tour Éperon d’Or does look cool, but I wonder if it might feel gimmicky after a while. And I’m actually just really loving the Hermès orange sports band.

2. Swap it for a non Hermès Apple Watch — this is kind of a boring option as I’d end up getting the Space Black, which is what I’ve already got in Series 2. And I’d lose the Hermès sports strap and faces.

3. Sell the Deployment Buckle — this is currently my favoured option. I’ve put it up on eBay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202112930063 (I don’t know if the price is sensible or crazy!)

I’ve got 13 more days to decide, I guess.

Let me know if you’re interested in making an offer for the strap.

I would be interested but 730 is steep considering it’s more than double the price of a non deployment buckle new.

Sorry, got suddenly crazy over here. While I would love it £600 is a bit steep (the ones I’ve seen and unfortunately missed went for $400 - $450, not $785), but in the end, you’re the owner and do what you think is fair.

I would post it on the Apple Watch Bands for sale reddit channel though to increase your chances

I received the grey Edition today and love it. Turns out, I’m just not an Hermès kind of a guy.

Pictures on the Edition thread.

Edit: Which means I’m sending the Hermès back.

I bought the Gray edition and the Hermès Deployment Buckle. I kept the Hermès. I didn’t like the gray color and there is literally no band selection that works with the edition watches (in my opinion.).

The icing on the cake was the typical Apple Watch faces. Made it an easy decision for me.

I agree that (almost) no bands work with the Edition, except (for the grey one) the band that comes with it and the black sports.

But I’m not a band collector. I just need one I like, then I stick with it. So I’m happy.

I can’t put a 50 cent plastic band on a $1,300 watch, but that’s just me. I had the white Ceramic last year and still not sure why Apple doesn’t make special bands and faces for the Edition watches.

I think it’s unfair bordering on offensive to call the sports strap a 50 cent plastic band. Especially the Edition version, which has a ceramic pin.

But I don’t care. I think it looks and feels great.

Offensive to call a rubber band 50 cents? Ok maybe it costs Apple $5 to manufacture. Either way I think it’s offensive to put such a cheap band on a $1,300 watch.

If we're using this logic shouldn't we be saying it's offensive putting a $5 strap on a $250 watch?

Actually, that’s an excellent point I wish I’d made myself.

The Hermès deployment buckle strap costs about £200 more than the regular buckle. What do you get for the money? About 10p worth of stainless steel.

Pricing and cost/market value of materials are wholly unrelated in Apple products.

I find the sports band to be stylish and comfortable. It’s not merely a piece of plastic. It’s a high-quality material and, in the Edition, it has a ceramic stud. What about the leather straps? Exactly how much does that tiny strip of leather cost? I have the leather sleeve for my iPad — at the same rate it would cost thousands to buy. It doesn’t. It’s cheaper than any of the leather straps.

Apple’s pricing is wholly unrelated to the cost of materials.

We can agree to disagree on the sports band (they serve a purpose, but I never appreciated wearing such a cheap looking band on my White Ceramic S2 with the exception of the gym). I think the quality of the sports bands are average at best.

Hermes leather is simply one of the best leathers in it's class. Their leathers are typically made by hand in Paris not a Chinese sweatshop. I agree that the mark-ups are probably quite huge, but I personally will always pay for for a non mass produced item that is hand made.

Hermes quality is second to none. I love all of my Hermes items - the watch probably being the least impressive of the lot and it's not even remotely fair to compare the leather Apple uses to any of the Hermes leathers.

Indeed we can. Given the choice between an Hermès leather band or an Apple sports strap -- a choice I actually have -- I chose the sports band. And it wasn't even close.

I on the other hand struggle to understand why someone would pick the Edition over a regular SS...If anything the SS looks superior (when you factor in its more formal look and band compatibility).

Wow. I'm getting a lot of negativity over my purchase!

I like it. It's that simple.

People are just expressing their opinions. I don’t think their comments are directly related to your watch. If you like it, then these comments shouldn’t matter. People are entitled to have an opinion. That’s what this forum is for, to express that opinion. Enjoy your new watch! I’m sure it looks great! I personally love the sports bands from Apple and wore mine for the first 2.5 years with my SBSS S0. It feels and looks great. It just isn’t as formal looking as my S3 Hermés Apple Watch with Eperon D’Or band.
