Hmm. Suppose I bought a brand new Eperon d’Or watch and sold you the strap completely unworn. What price would you pay? I may be thinking of going back to Hermes, but I don’t like any of the leather straps. I do love the orange sport, which you get for free. So there may be a possibility of a deal.
I was thinking somewhere in the ball park of what it’s like to purchase them separately, like $340? I’d also be willing to trade my Colvert Switch + $100 cash or something.

I’ve changed my mind after buying something but I don’t think I’ve got out and rebought the very thing I just returned because I returned it for a purpose.

I’m not talking about rebuying exactly the same watch.

I liked every part of the Hermès Apple Watch experience — except the strap: I didnt’ like the colour. And I don’t like the brown version, either.

That leaves me with the Noir Single Tour Rallye, or the Éperon d’Or.

The Rallye has holes in it (which they seem to charge extra for!) and I’m not sure how good that would actually look on the wrist with my white pasty skin showing through. The Éperon d’Or looks great but might get old quickly (as in it might look old fashioned, or I might get bored of the design) and the busyness of the design might compete too much with the watch face. (For this reason I sent back my Black/Volt Nike sports band — it looks great on its own, but the bright colours competed too much with the watch itself.)

I can be indecisive about these things, but we’re talking about a lot of money and I want to be delighted every time I put it on.

As for the Edition, I don’t really know what happened. I loved it at first. Then one morning I woke up and I had stopped loving it. I’m trying to train myself back into loving it again. I’ve switched the grey strap that it came with for a black sports strap in the hope that might liven it up a bit.

I could just buy a regular Stainless Steel but I liked the Hermès watch faces, I loved the orange sports band, and (trivial as this is) I loved the orange box. The white plastic box was also classier than the Edition one.

Short of advising me to see a therapist, does anyone have any suggestions?

Be careful with the Edition sport band though. Those pick up dirt and dyes very easy and start color shifting after just a few months of wear.

At least you can buy another Hermès band but you can’t rebuy the Edition sport band.

You can get replacement edition bands through customer service...

Only you can make that decision my friend.

So box, a Hermès Sport band (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Watc...-Band-Strap-Silicone-42mm-Hermes/302518876483) Stainless Steel AW 42 mm and ready set go :)

Alternatively consider jail breaking your iPhone X (If yet possible) http://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/04/03/hermes-nike-watch-face-apple-watch/ and you additionally have all clock faces for free

These are crazy prices! The world has gone mad. Clearly I'm the sane one, here.

If I'm going back to Hermès I'm going legit.

I reckon it's the Éperon d’Or or nothing. I'm tempted . . .

Thank you for posting these. Could I ask you to take a picture looking straight down at the watch face, as you would normally see it? I want to get a sense of how much the strap competes with the face itself.

It has a lovely shade of blue, an interesting and unique pattern and best of all it's printed on Hermès leather + the custom watch face. The Edition looks just like the MacBooks and iMacs from the 2000s, but those were unapologetically plastic without an Edition moniker. As for durability...who cares? Next year we'll lust after the new models and new bands and look at our Series 3 watches as dated and boring objects, no matter what condition they might be in.

I have some first hand experience with this. I had the Gray Edition for a week and loved it at first. Then at around day 7 the lack of variety available to me to switch up bands and lack of additional watch faces got to me. I returned the watch and purchased the Hermes Ebene Barenia Deployment Buckle and have since purchased the Fauve Barenia Leather Band (which is beautiful). Though looking in hindsight I wished I purchased the Indigo Swift blue band version of the watch vs the Ebene Barenia as I find I like the bands better than the deployment buckles. But my driving factor is that the SS allows the flexibility to switch up your look and band options anytime whether its lounging at home, going to the gym, a semi formal day at the office, or a full suit day at work, it just works. There is not a band that does not go with the SS, only a matter of your personal taste. Whereas with the Edition it's either White or Grey sport bands.

I'd also agree with Drew0020 that the Hermes leather is the highest quality leather I've ever purchased. Amazingly good quality, and it might be just me but it has the high quality leather smell to it as well.

My two sense anyway...

I still have an original Hermès and gave a Space Black Stainless Steel Series 2 to one of my sons and recently bought both a Series 3 Hermès Fauve Barenia with deployment and a Ceramic Grey.

As a vintage IWC watch collector I love deployment buckles as they preserve my expensive bands, yet the Hermès version for Apple Watch has one big advantage: you can not change bands, so how stupid that is!

For me the Fauve Barenia is Hermès at its best: both incolor and quality, the deployment is just an expensive bonus.

I agree with you that silver stainless steel is the best watch model to use with most sorts of bands: (Nike) Sport Band, Sport Loop, silver Milanese, silver Link Bracelet, Classic Buckle and Leather Loop they all look very well. IMO because the adapters combine so well with the SS case.

I have the Ceramic Grey now for three weeks and I love it. The case is - as with the white Edition - something very special. The White Edition is more neutral and therefore fits more colours.

As written in the Edition 3 thread, I wear the Ceramic Grey with (Nike) Sport Bands (Black, Anthracite, (PRODUCT) RED, Midnight Blue and the Leather Loops.(Charcoal, Black and Midnight Blue).

Last but not least it is all a matter of personal taste and I fully agree with you on the Hermès leather smell. The Apple leather just sucks here:(

Does Hermès sell the Marine Gala Band by itself? Or does anyone have one they want to sell – – a real one.

It’s actually not that busy. The strap surprisingly goes well with everything I wear (except for the gym because I don’t want it drenched in sweat!)

I have the indigo swift leather band and its softer and more durable than the fauve barenia, which I also have.

I find myself freaking out when I get water splashes and possible sweat stains on the fauve barenia, but the indigo swift doesn't seem to be affected at all.

And I also want the Marina Gala band!

I have a very, seemingly, dumb question cause well I don’t really know and I don’t own leather products other than sneakers, so forgive my ignorance.

Since the S2/3 Apple watches are both water resistant ... is the Apple Hermes leather bands resistant to water (not a drop/splash but say shower/dip in the pool)? Will too much exposure to being submerged in water render the leather hide to weaken and rot, eventually smelling? Does Apple standard watch warranty cover the bands (that ship with Hermes watches) in the situation where water damages the leather through normal use/exposure?

Thanks.

No. It specifically says on the website and I think in the paper instructions inside the box that they’re not water resistant.

That’s what the orange sports band is there for.

Thank you.

I wasn’t interested due to the restrictive pricing, for me, else I may have seen the warning online. Would be nice if it was some water resistant but that’s not the nature of leather.

I recently ordered an Hermès Apple Watch. The orange sports strap had a very tiny flaw (a pin prick sized black mark embedded into the strap itself, so not something that could be rubbed off). Apple replaced the strap but didn’t ask me to returned the flawed one.

Someone has offered to buy the flawed strap and has asked me how much I would accept for it. I have no idea what a fair price would be. There are similar straps for offer on eBay for what look like crazy prices (around £200) but just because they’re on sale at that price doesn’t mean anyone’s actually buying at that price.

Can anyone suggest a fair price?

LOS ANGELES BABY!!
Not heard from you yet — this is the message I sent to @mhoutman

***

Thanks for your comments and advice about my new Hermès Apple Watch on MacRumors.

I think my options are . . .

1. Swap it for a different Hermès Apple Watch — I’ve looked at the others, but I’m not wildly excited about any of them. The Marine Gala Leather Single Tour Éperon d’Or does look cool, but I wonder if it might feel gimmicky after a while. And I’m actually just really loving the Hermès orange sports band.

2. Swap it for a non Hermès Apple Watch — this is kind of a boring option as I’d end up getting the Space Black, which is what I’ve already got in Series 2. And I’d lose the Hermès sports strap and faces.

3. Sell the Deployment Buckle — this is currently my favoured option. I’ve put it up on eBay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202112930063 (I don’t know if the price is sensible or crazy!)

I’ve got 13 more days to decide, I guess.

Let me know if you’re interested in making an offer for the strap.

Did you sell deployment strap???
