All of which goes to show, you really can’t trust colour on Apple’s website. That spicy orange really looks like Hermès orange on the website, but in real life it’s ghastly.

It's slightly different shade. The orange of the Hermes is a bit softer shade of orange in my opinion. I'll try to take a picture comparison later for everyone. I actually prefer the Orange of the Hermes sport vs the Spicy Orange.

Not going to lie, debated selling the Hermes band, now I'm afraid this spoils the potential resale value unless people really value that Hermes branded pin on their sport band. But then again, the orange hue of the Hermes band is very nice compared to the Spicy Orange.

Makes it tough when you love the color Orange!!

Sorry, I don't agree here. The Spicy and Hermès are like comparing apple and pears...;)

It's different, yes, but to the naked eye in person no one will know the difference. Amazing what some indoor lighting can do to the color hue of these bands. That's all I'm saying.

I just received the Spicy Orange iPhone X case and after some digging around in a drawer, found the original orange case I had for the iPhone 6 Plus.....color is similar, but the older case is a bit darker in hue. The new case is lighter and a bit more "neon" in appearance. The new iPhone Spicy Orange case and the new Apple Watch Spicy Orange watchband are the same color exactly. That said, yes, different types of lighting: indoor, outdoor, natural, fluorescent, etc., definitely affect colors of any products, and these bands and iPhone cases are no exception.

Hello, again, gang. Most of my story was told over on the Edition thread, but they got a bit cross when I started talking about Nike Sports and Hermès watches.

Let’s recap, first.

I bought the Ébène Barenia Deployment Hermès, but didn’t like the colour. So then I bought the Grey Ceramic Edition, which initially I loved, and then realised it just looks like a piece of cheap grey plastic with a nasty plastic strap. So I bought the Éperon d’Or Hermès, but I wasn’t in love with the strap, which I thought I should be at that price. So I bought the Feu Epsom strap, which I did like, but I wasn’t sold on the quality (there was an asymmetry) and I couldn’t sell the Éperon d’Or strap at a reasonable price, so the whole thing seemed too expensive.

I then made a wholly unpredictable move to the Nike Sports, as I liked the watchfaces and it was so much cheaper. Plus I felt the display is actually better with Ion X than with Sapphire.

And that’s where I left you all.

Well, I still like the Nike watchfaces and the lovely Ion X screen, but the black Sports strap and aluminium body just make the whole thing seem, well, cheap. And not special in any way.

So I thought maybe the black leather loop would jazz it up a bit. But there’s no supply for 5-7 weeks! The only other option was the black stainless steel link. So I ordered that. Now, it does go reasonably well with the space grey aluminium body. They don’t clash. But you kinda know it’s wrong because you know it’s aluminium with steel. And the blacks are both kinda purple.

Now, pretty much anything I type into the search field of my Safari browser takes me to the Apple Watch store, because Apple gets me. So back I went. I really, really wanted one of the Hermès deployment straps but I just can’t get past the colour. Which left only one option: the Indigo Swift.

Which arrived this morning. It’s nearly black. The leather is thicker than the others and noticeably softer. I’m not wild about the colour, or the quality — there really is no pleasing me. But I’ve got to the point now where I just don’t care any more. You see, I’ve always loved the Hermès Sports strap — I think it looks amazing with the stainless steel. And . . . well, I’ve got the Feu Epsom arriving tomorrow, again. It’s my favourite of the leather straps. Asymmetry be damned!

Our dear friend @mhoutman may make me an offer for the Indigo Swift, but if not, well, I’ll just have it as a spare. Or for more formal occasions, when Feu is just not the right statement to make.

Because I’ve decided that more important than cost to me is having a combination I like and that feels special and quality. There is — to me, at least — no perfect combination. If they’d made the deployment in black, or orange, I’d probably have been happy on Day 1. But they don’t.

I’m fine with the stainless steel body. I’ve always loved the Hermès sports strap. I’m a bit of a sucker for the lovely boxes. And the Indigo Swift strap is certainly immensely soft and not unpleasant to look at. I’ll no doubt switch it in from time to time. But I think the Feu Epsom will be my daily driver.

The End.

HI Matt, if it has been a Noir Box (black) band I would buy it from you in an instant, but my advise would be to keep the Indigo Swift and the Feu Epspm to have different straps for different occasions. You also have some rubber bands for summer then :)

Matt, I couldn‘t really understand that that extremely minor „asymmetry“ you perceived bothered you so much that you would send back the stunning Hermes/Feu combination that you so clearly liked best of all the models you tried. Good to see you came back around.

It was great, that’s true. Tomorrow it will be great again!

I think I let the cost freak me out a bit. I’m over that now.

I would absolutely LOVE a Feu Epsom strap, but unfortunately for me, the 42mm watch is just too large on my wrist and Hermes only sells that particular color band in the 42mm size. I am not going to buy a 42mm watch that wouldn't look nice on my wrist just so I can have that lovely band! My watch is the 38mm and I know that trying to put a 42mm strap on it would not work well at all and would be an injustice to Apple, Hermes and me. Either I'll have to grow bigger bones (not going to happen!) or Hermes is eventually going to release the Feu Epsom in the 38 mm size (please, please, PLEASE, Hermes, make it happen!!!)........

Along with the great straps, I am rather amazed how much I like the Hermes watch face. Might be a little thing, but I can't seem to go back to any of the others. I used Modular for years, but the Hermes just fits the watch so well.
