The white boxes were if sealed and sold by Apple, Hermès has different packaging for their stores so items can be opened up and shown to customers.
Thanks for the insight. I’ve only ever bought bands direct from Hermès since S3 so didn’t know what they did for the original.
But that black insert is not something I’ve seen ever.
Any fellow Hermes Apple Watch owners upgraded to an Apple Watch Ultra? The ultra is clearly different in many ways form factor wise. Did you like the change/dislike the change? Would appreciate any feedback. I’m currently still rocking my series 4 Hermes AW which I love but have an opportunity to upgrade to an Ultra 2 for a good price which is why I bring this question up. Thanks in advance.

I have both. A Hermes S7 and got an Ultra 1 last May.
When I first got the ultra didn’t wear the Hermes for about 3 weeks. Now I wear them probably 50/50. Or maybe 70/30 in Hermes favour. Love the Ultra and the 2 day battery life, but love the look of the Hermes.
Just started my Ultra life yesterday and couldn’t imagine only having an Ultra, look and feel wise.
While the Hermes watch and Ultra 2 have many features in common, they are kinda like a sedan and a truck in the driving world. The Ultra is bulkier and I prefer it with wider bands that are infinitely adjustable. The look is less refined IMO also. When you dress business casual or better, you may prefer to wear the Hermes.
If possible, I would keep the Hermes and get the Ultra 2 also. I don't think you can get enough $$$ selling an S4, to justify not having it anymore. I think if you have both watches, you'll use them for different events/occasions.
I have an S7 SS and an Ultra 2. The Ultra is nice for times when I want the bigger screen, or better battery life. But sometimes I don't like the bulk of the Ultra 2 and I'm glad to put the S7 on. The S7 can be dressed up nicely and feels lighter on the wrist. I also use it for sleep monitoring.
If you have to pick just one, that's hard to help you with, since it comes down to how you use your watch(es).

I use the Ultra on weekends with the Rouge H Kilim band. I miss the Hermes faces but the Metropolitan face has a color option that works well with the band.
I wonder if these knock-offs are that good. For fun, I got 2 Kilim fake bands off of Aliexpress. They would never be confused with an original hermes kilim.Be careful. High quality Kilim knock offs have hit the market.

last i checked real kilims don't look like they just surfaced from a lint trap only from opening the packaging to take photos

I save my prototypes in a separate band tray. They don't count towards my collection total, but it keeps everything organized. I just count them as the closest retail counterpart.
How do you find the Ultra though?
I love mine, but as you say I couldn't not have a Hermes. I tend to wear Ultra now in the morning for workouts and then leave it on all day on the first day and overnight. The next morning I do my workout then take it off on about 50% to put on the Hermes for the rest of the day and night. Rince and repeat.
I WFH full time, and tend to not dress up 4 out of 5 days for work either as I don't go on camera on zoom, but still love the look of the Hermes on my wrist. Orange Kilim full time lol.
I got it almost solely to complement the Ultra bands I already had and for that it’s perfect. Overall it still feels so tall off my wrist (which is admittedly a little small for everything bigger than 44mm watches).
But I’m keeping my Nike S7 as my cellular/workout watch and wear Nike bands when out using that because I like the size fit compared to wearing nike bands on an Ultra.
So to answer your question the Ultra is just a tiny slice of my day and therefore its significant departure from the Series look or my 41mm/40mm watches is just perfect so far.
Half of my wrist time would maybe be too much. Curious how I feel wearing it to the grocery store. Certainly my grocery list in Reminders will be glorious!
I need one as well for my Ultra bands, and maybe some other pairings I'm curious about, though I'm waiting for when (or if?) they ever drop to ~250. It's really not a priority for me. I'll spend the time waiting to pick up more ultra bands!
I'm moreso curious in the unwanted hermes watch listings. Hoping for 550!
