Here comes another Ultra 2 Hermes in a special version:

I wanted to have that dial - so - it had to be a Hermès Ultra 2 :cool:
As they did not have the standard band in stock, I chose an interesting alternative, I always wanted. It is easier to burn an additional hole into this kind of band anyway - they are all too long for me...

What is a bit of a deception - image two:
Some cheap aftermarket bands, claiming to look like the original ones (right), do have lugs, that fit the band. At Hermès there is a unisex-lug-size. If the band is to small, then you have to live with it (left). At that price, I would have expected lugs, that fit.

Be aware, that you lose two Hermès dials with the Ultra 2. The Lucky Horse and the one with the tilted digital hour is gone. But I have the "Maritime" dial now.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by unisex lug size

Both bands fit 45mm watches. There width is identical. The aftermarket one does have lugs that fit, the Hermès ones are to wide...
... do regard "unisex" with a wink regarding the different dress/watchband-sizes.

So you’re saying the 45mm and 41mm lugs have the same width?

Also I don’t agree that the OEM band you’ve pictured is “too small”?

I am comparing two identical band sizes - one is genuine (lower), the other one (upper) is not.
The other one does not wiggle, the genuine one does. It is a minor thing though, I like the original one very much, but Hermès coud have paid a bit more attention on the details...

Can we see how the smaller width looks on a watch? A 45mm if you have one?

Yeah it’s kind of too bad the twill doesn’t hug the bar like the leather bands. Maybe the sliding makes it more comfortable. I always center my askew textile bands.

45mm S9 with these bands:

you won't notice the difference.

If you are brave enough, there is one extreme opportunity for the Ultra 2 with an unknown band - Attelage for the Ultra 2. As single tour, it would look awful, but the double tour just adds some elegance.
...trying all kind of stupid things here. 😇

**EDIT changed the first foto from Ultra 2 to a 45 mm S9

The fake looks like a 41mm lug, because of the “gendered” lug bar, as i suspected.

@Stella_Fudge would love your “stupid” haha

I just noticed the gap, when I compared the original with that aftermarket version.

Now as I look at both - the genuine lug has a better overall appearance regarding the watch with band. Its proportions fit the 45/46 even 49 mm watches better than the fake one. If you compare them directly.

That genuine one is number three for me. They are expensive, but the quality is outstanding. I might need a Kilim, I guess. 😊

All the 46mm case size are already sold out. That didn’t last long.

Has anyone tried to get AppleCare+ to warrant Hermes bands? I purchased the watch with the fauve band and have AppleCare+ -- but, the black deployment band that I purchased at the same time/separately is in pretty bad shape. There's a small tear in the leather where the lug is, and I'd prefer to try to use warranty vs. buying a new deployment strap, for pretty obvious reasons.

Apple does not warranty Hermes bands outside of the orange extra one you get.

Anything leather etc will need to go through Hermes. And it’s very very difficult. Luckily there’s a Hermes store in sf I was able to get too but I was without my band I think 4 months while it was in Paris. Never again. Lol

There's a store that's not crazy far from me in San Diego -- how much did they charge for the band repairs? I wouldn't mind getting both the fauve deployment band and the black deployment band refreshed, if it makes any sense...?

Looking at the AC+ info, it says that it warrants "all included accessories". The leather band seems like it's an included accessory, no?

Definitely worth fighting for through Apple support and mention “all included accessories”. Be persistent, yet polite and if the first person you talk to can’t help, escalate it up the chain of supervisor’s. Since Apple doesn’t sell leather bands anymore, ask for a gift card.

I believe in that terminology, it states apple made accessories. Apple does not make the leather bands/etc. Hermes does in Paris. Apple does make the orange sport band so getting that replaced is very very easy. But they cant/have ever serviced Hermes made bands. It was all free, you are just without the band for several months. And they will not give you a new one, they will repair them all.

Pushing Apple works. One time I was able to get a free Hermes band bc Apple couldnt service it and at the time I was living in Hawaii. However that took a LOT of complaining and you need a lot of energy lol.
