I love the new Bordeaux/Rose Extrême/Rose Azalée but there's no way I can justify that price for a piece of tech that will be outdated in a year. (ya ya ya... I know... the phone.....)

I'm pretty much set on the Ebene Barenia Single Tour Deployment Buckle. At $1500 + applecare+, I'm pretty sure I don't need to wake up at 3am EST to order. On the one hand. On the other hand, these are usually in pretty low supply right? i.e. there's a chance that they may become backordered even if demand is light.

What do you all think?

I get what you're alluding too, but to say it will be "outdated" in a year is a bit hyperbolic. It will be refreshed in a year. I wouldn't call it outdated. I'm sure you can get 2-3 years of use out of this easy.

I'm thinking of getting that one for the wife.... :D It's just her style and will match with her collection of Vuitton and Gucci bags.

The face shown on the Apple Store has a diagonal block color pattern. Does anyone know if the more traditional Hermes faces are also available in the software for this model?
[doublepost=1536864519][/doublepost]
Yes all standard AW faces plus the exclusive Hermès ones.

Thank you for this. Very helpful.

So I'm back....I've been comparing the available SS versions. (silver only)

I can get a white sport band version for $699, but I already have a white sport band.... so i'm "out" $49.

I can get a Milanese version for $799. $100 more... but the Milanes band alone is $149... so I "save" $49.

I can get the Hermes version for $1249 (and it includes an extra sport band for $550 more (than the white sport band version) But the Hemes band on it's own is only $339. So I'm paying an extra $211 for the watch part? That's the same exact watch as the others???? What's the extra $211 for? (or $162 if you take into account the extra sport band?)

So as pretty as the Hermes is... they kinda rips you off!?

The extra $211 is the fee for owning a Hermes watch. :D

Ever been to a Gucci store? They have tee shirts which would cost about $10 at Walmart, but since they say Gucci on them, they charge you $750 (no joke, they really do).

Well, you get the faces that are exclusive to the Hermes, and I believe there is some engraving on the back of the Hermes. Finally, that sport band cannot be purchased separately so may be worth more than a regular sport band depending on your perspective. I think too there's an extra year on the warranty.

Whether all that is worth the premium is in the eye of the beholder of course...

Don't forget the additional year of Warranty you get with Hermes.

The Hermès watches come in much nicer packaging. Apparently there are people willing to buy the empty boxes.

I am trying to convince myself that this is a good value because I can buy the Hermes and AppleCare and keep the watch for 3 years.

Since this is technically first gen of this type. It's going to start getting hard to make upgrades that aren't too gimmicky... I am sure battery life will say it improves.

This all sounds great as long as I can trust myself not to upgrade next year.

I have had the Hermès for the last 2 years and debating getting one of the new multicolor band models or just switch back to the normal stainless steel and get the gold. While I like the Hermès face and have used it for the last 2 years, I feel like you miss some of the benefits of having the smart watch due to the lack of complications. I understand you can change the face easily but what’s the point of buying it then in the first place. Cheaper to just buy the band

You also get the engraving on the back, exclusive Hermès faces, one year extra warranty and the Hermès orange packaging.

It’s hard to justify if you break it down part by part and compare it against the standard individual components.

Hermès is more of an experience to enjoy. If you don’t see the value in that, then it’s overpriced. But if you walk into the Hermès store, the Apple Watch is definitely the cheapest entry to their watch section and their brand in general (minus a few T-shirt’s and key ring and belts).

When I bought the original watch, I was convinced I was going to buy it every year.... then I picked up a rose gold one (same series: 0) so that made it harder to justify upgrading (plus nothing in the newer versions blew me away except the speed) so I've been using my two original watches. but now i'm ready for a new one! many days I can't even get through a work day without charging! and they are so slow! I think the hermes is SO pretty... but do love that new watch face with all the complications! i just can't decide!

I think I've settled on the Indigo Swift, rather than the clown watch. I mocked up the Indigo Swift with the two-colour face and I think it works well.

But the Hermès Apple Watch will contain all the exclusive Hermès faces, as well as all the standard ones (with new complications) that come with the standard Apple Watch?

Oh, I know... what I meant was, if I paid the extra money... part of which is presumably for the exclusive faces.... would I even use the new faces... because that new one is way useful! I used to use mickey all the time just cuz I love mickey! but then I changed the face where I can have my fitness, weather, heartrate, etc.... because I found it way more useful to have it right there rather than have to look for it....

Ah now I get ya.

I frequently switch between the Hermès and modular watch faces during the day. If I’m in a meeting and wanna look professional I use the Hermès face. If I’m power walking to the train station and want to track my walk I switch over.

Mightily tempted by the SS link strap, too. They’ve cut the price. I wonder if they’re phasing it out. It looks great with the new watchface.
