Barina leather is Hermes’s most sensitive leather, amazingly soft & golden but anything that comes into contact it will likely leave a mark. Their Swift & Epsom leathers are much more resistant to marks/scratches- compared to the Barina it’s like they have a protective shell as a top layer.
Interesting, thanks. I’ll probably use it less frequently for certain occasions.
I’m so tempted to buy the link bracelet so that I have the trifecta — Sports, leather, steel — but it’s naughty to spend more. Though they dropped the price. A few days ago shipping on the link was a couple of days. It’s now ballooned to a month. Though I’ve seen this happen before with strap delivery estimates. Only for them to fall back to a much shorter time.
The link bracelet is excellent. I was concerned removing it every day when I go to the gym would weaken it eventually, but it’s still as good as the day I bought it at the S2 launch. Hats off to Apple for the brilliant design, coming out of nowhere vs traditional watch makers. The only thing I’d change is adding some degree of micro adjustment without the need for removing a link. I love the bracelet on my Tudor Pelagos for that reason.
I still am a big fan of mechanical watches. The penalty for this personally means that, unfortunately, I’m not quite as enamoured by the look of the Apple Watch as a lot of others are. I bought the Series 2 on link bracelet because I found it the only way to make the AW even vaguely appealing to my eyes. The AW has grown on me a lot since, a lot to do with the functionality which I do miss when I’m wearing a mechanical. The combo of the Hermès strap and squareish faces really does make them visually a lot more appealing to me.
