I currently have an AWU 1 and love it. I plan to upgrade to the AWU 3. I have never owned a Hermes version of any AW and I'm really thinking about going that direction this time. I am trying to decide if the extra cost is worth it for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through this thread. No decision to make right now because nothing with an En Mer strap is available currently.
Blue En Mer is available from Hermes.com assuming you’re in the US

I check a couple of flagship metropolitan Apple Stores and the only one that came up with tomorrow in-stock pickup, HU3 En Mer orange band combo, is one in my neck of the woods, Tysons Corner VA.

Definitely go Apple Store if you want to trade in your OG Ultra, since it’s worth $255 and every $$$ counts to reducing your upgrade, which is what I did 🤓

Stainless Steel seems to be essentially the same color as Silver Titanium, but Silver Titanium doesn’t reflect as well as Stainless Steel so it gives of sense of more depth. I don’t know how to describe it, but there’s a difference in looks between the steel and silver titanium

Stainless steel is shiny. Titanium is matte silver. Some prefer one over the other, but I'm happy with both.

I have the Hermes stainless steel S7, and I like that once every 6 months I can use the Cape Cod cloth to give it a good polish and make it look new again. I cannot do that with titanium. Then again, you probably don't need to with titanium being matte. :)

This was one of my considerations when I upgraded this year. I was going to upgrade the S7 and keep the Normal U2, but have not seen a Hermes Titanium in the flesh.

In the end I thought that I love the Ultra and the S7 looks like new (Thanks to the cape cod), so I would go for the Ultra 3.

It also gives me a real excuse to upgrade next year as the S7 will be 5 years old lol.

Yes! Me too. I'm waiting until next year when my S7 turns 5 years old for a proper upgrade. Right now everything is working just fine.

I mean the standard series 11 versus the Hermes series 11, both polished shiny. If I used a Cape Cod cloth on the SS maybe it would have the same “depth” look of the shiny silver titanium. Then there’s the shiny natural titanium of the standard series 11 which has a grey look to it.

Some have had the matte natural titanium of the ultra polished to be shiny but I haven’t seen that out in the wild.

ultra 3 is only 1.3mm thicker than the S9 and older series (12mm versus 10.7mm), and maybe I would have gotten used to it, but wearing it for 5-10 minutes I felt it got in the way

Ended up keeping both the U3 and the S11 Hermes editions. Different purposes depending on my mood; would have just kept my S10 but had already sold it thinking battery would be the differentiator. Also learned that Verizon can activate two watches on my account for cellular which can number share to my main line, so I don’t have to even relegate one to being my “no phone” workout watch

Question for anyone with the Gris Scuba band - on mine there is a significant color mismatch between the lugs and the buckle. The lugs match the lighter finish of the Ultra 3 but the finish of the buckle is noticeably darker. Is this normal / intentional? When looking at the stock photos on the Apple and Hermes websites, the color of the lugs and buckle both appear to match the lighter finish of the U3.
My Gris Scuba hardware looks to match exactly the Ultra 3’s finish

It’s arrived 😍

Upgraded from my series 7 Hermes space black to an ultra 3

I really like all the En Mer. My Ultra came with the orange and I got the Gris, which is now permanently on my Ultra. Have got my eye on the Bleu Hydra….though like you my wallet wants a bit of a rest and wants to be used for real life rather than playthings. Well that’s what the wife says lol.

Does anyone know which Hermes and Apple stores in Manhattan will have the bands, specifically the Satine Grand H?

Want to try one on before deciding.

If the Hermès store in question carries the watch, chances are high they’d let you try on. I’d look at the store locator and figure out which one is flagged as carrying the watch.

Pretty much all of the Apple Stores in Manhattan should have a Satiné Grand H 46mm to try on.

Apple Store Fifth Avenue has 46mm in small and medium bands in stock and ready for pickup. If you need a 46mm in a large band, Apple Store World Trade Center and Upper East Side have it stock and ready for pickup.

From my search, Satiné Grand H 42mm Apple Store stock is more limited.

Not too delicate. But since it's a special edition band, I would be kind to it and not use it at the gym. I use only use sport bands when I workout.
Random question but would you by any chance frequent TPF as well? Haha. If you ask what’s TPF then it would definitely not be the same person :p

Worth it is. Subjective thing.

Worth it from the pleasure it gives me? Tick
Worth it as in a financial investment? No tick

To me, something that you look at multiple times a day (lol and that is just to get the time), is part of you and your ‘look’ is worth a few extra £££ (or $$). I also find that I will keep Hermes watch for a few years before upgrading (my S7 is 4 years old) and I plan to keep the U3 at least 3-4, so the financial value is more as upgrading every year is costly.

TLDR Yes :)

Agree completely! I am certainly leaning toward pulling the trigger for the Hermes AWU 3!
