The challenge is that they never tell you when a band simply won’t return. I have one that another user asked about buying because apparently it was available only for an extremely short time period and in limited quantities. Not that Hermes mentioned it! I just got lucky.

It is kind of how luxury fashion works, if you don’t buy what you like soon, it will disappear forever. The dog collar style band didn’t last long and those are popular Hermes bracelets.

and I believe everything is immediately available that they have online @ Hermes.

Yes. If it’s on their website it means it’s in stock and available for purchase. Tried to order my 44mm indigo blue from them and my credit card company kept kicking it back due to Hermes authentication process. By the time it made it through they already had sold out. Lucky for me the Apple store at the grove had what I wanted. They go quick.

Yeah, that's why I got the multi-color band even though at the time I only sort of liked it. I like it now. :)

I've found the quality control on the deployment buckle strap isn't as good as the pin buckle strap. All the pin buckle straps I've seen are soft, consistently made without issue. With the deployment I saw one without enough glue being used and another in which the craftsperson used too much pressure on some machine putting the band and marked/wrinkled the leather. Not a big deal in the 2nd case as it'll wrinkle as you use it, but by not using enough glue in the 1st case there's a bubble between the outer and inner pieces of leather.

Idk, can't really say . . . but can say that leather bands in general simply don't last. If you wear a particular leather band every day I'd say it'll last 2 years unless you clean/condition it which I have never done. If you did clean/condition it, I do wonder how long it would last. I also noticed the white thread fraying a bit at places just as shown in previous posts in this thread. Usually I'm OCD about these things, but this time for whatever reason it's not a big deal to me, I'm just going to wear it and haven't decided if I want to do the work of cleaning and conditioning it. I never had a deployment buckle. Maybe this is your first deployment buckle too? I definitely think it's worth having and wearing a deployment buckle for the experience. I feel as a watch wearer you want to experience wearing a bracelet band and the more rare, deployment buckle band, on an everyday basis at least once!

I ordered my Hermes 40mm double tour fauve barenia on October 7. Apple's estimated shipping date is Nov 5 to 13 but that seems so far away! Anybody have any good news to report re: shipping happening faster than the original estimate?

Apple, almost always under promises and over delivers on its shipping estimates. I'd guess you see delivery a week prior than Apple estimated. But then again it depends on how they distributed stock between Apple and Hermes. After pre-order is complete, Hermes tends to get a larger stock of watches from what I've seen.

I just got the Fauve Barenia with deployment buckle (and love it) and am looking for whatever would be the closest to the matching band in black. I'd like to be able to alternate between browns and blacks, depending on my outfit for the day. I ordered and received the Ébène Barenia, but it was more of a dark coffee brown, which was clearly noticeable when I wore anything with black sleeves. I ended up returning it. So I have two questions:

• Would the single tour Indigo be a better "stunt" version of black?
• Or, will the Ébène Barenia eventually darken over time to get closer to a true black and less of a dark brown?

Thanks in advance. Y'all seem to know a ton about this product line.

I think the Indigo will still look blue next to black, but if that 'matches' better to your eyes then that's the safest Hermes bet. Alternately, get a black leather 3rd party strap. Juxli on Etsy sells nice ones. Not positive she has black right now, but others will for sure (and/or, Juxli could probably make one for you).

I have the Ebene deployment, but have only had it for a few weeks so can't really say whether it'll darken much. @calexandre may have a take on that...

IIRC, in previous years Hermès did have black bands, so that’s the good news. If you find something it’ll probably be used though.

Hermès sold a Noir Box black band a year or so ago. They put them back in stock randomly and you might come across it on their website. Or call a local store and get them to check for you.

Here’s a summary pic of all the bands they’ve released. Copied from another thread and it doesn’t contain the latest tri colour bands.

Hi

The ebene barenia does not darken. I have that band. If your interested in buying the idigo I have it unworn. I wear my ebene barenia and clown strap and have never worn the indigo. I bought my watch with the indigo strap but I immediately put my ebene barenia strap on it and have never use the indigo cause then I bought the clown strap which is half indigo.

Wow that chart is awesome. No wonder someone kicked the tires on buying my Etain single tour - it was only available for a single season.

A rattling sound during a haptic notification this morning while wearing my Ebene Barenia cinched it for me; that one’s gonna get swapped at the Apple Store despite the risk that I’ll get another loose-fitting one. What worries me is last time I went in to see about this, a few of the floor samples of Hermes straps also fit a bit loose in the watch case, so it seems Hermes got some bad hardware this time. If the replacement is loose, I’ll go to Hermes directly.
