Hmmm... let's see... so far I've bought 7 iPod's and counting!

o 10GB 2G (given to a cute blonde friend to take to Europe with her)
o 40GB 3G (digitally linked to my Alpine car stereo!)
o Silver 4GB mini (given to my brother for Christmas)
o Pink 4GB mini (given to my sister-in-law for Christmas)
o 1GB 1G shuffle (recently washed & dryed but geez it still works!)
o 1GB 2G shuffle (given to my former girlfriend as a Christmas gift)
o 1GB 2G shuffle (still around here somewhere, oh wait, there it is...)

To re-reply:

First gen 512 MB shuffle (Sold to the friend I bought the next one from, after purchase of the nano; he gave it to his mom as a Christmas present.)
30 GB 3G (bought from the friend I sold my shuffle to; soon after I showed my wife how to use it, it became her iPod; it now has a dead battery, and is only used in a powered iPod speaker-dock.)
2 GB White first gen nano (Bought after my wife claimed the full-size iPod, because the shuffle alone wasn't cutting it for me. Unfortunately, she just discovered Nike+, so I fear this one will become hers soon, too.)

I guess it's time to buy another one for myself. Again. I need to stop showing these things to my wife!

Now I can't decide if I want a new nano, or if I'll wait for the iPhone. (I've been eyeing some Nokia smartphones, which are technically more advanced than the iPhone (3G, third party software support including GPS software,) but the iPhone is just so seductive. (I'm presently using an older Nokia smartphone that is dying, it gives an error every 2-3 times I turn it on, and won't work again until I leave the battery out for a day or two.)

Looks like I'm about average, I've had 6 since June 2003.

personally, I have had two. A 20 GB 3 G, and now a 30 GB 5 G (not 5.5). The family though has had more I suppose....we have one 4 G iPod, and two black 5.5 G ipods also. Howcome people have two iPods? Cant you only listen to one at a time?

10GB 3G (First ever Apple product)
20GB 3G (Needed more space)
4GB 1G Mini (Just for fun)
30GB iPod Photo (Wanted colour screen)
30GB 5G (Wanted the slimness, black colour and video capability)

This is where i am thus far. Next up 6G iPod.

In order of when I got them:

1) 1Gb shuffle 1G (First iPod experience:D)
2) 30Gb iPod 5G (FIrst "real" iPod)
3) 2Gb nano 1G (I won this one)
3.5) 2Gb nano 1G (Won this in the same competion, had to give it away :()
4) 1Gb shuffle 2G (Birthday present)
5) 15Gb iPod 3G (Vintage is good...)

I currently use all 5 of my iPods, not at the same time though. except for the nano, he's been lacking attention lately. and shuffle 1 is just used a a flash disk :p

Not all for me, but what Ive bought in order:

1) 2nd gen 10gb*
2) 1st gen 1gb Nano
3) 5th gen 30gb video
4) 1st gen 1gb Nano
5) 1st gen 512mb Shuffle
6) 1st gen 512mb Shuffle
7) 1st gen 2gb Nano
8) 1st gen 2gb Nano*
9) 5th gen 30gb video*

* = the ones for me, the others were for the wife and kids. Yep, I make good use of the Apple refurb store.

1. 15gb ipod 3G (from dell.com when they have ipods that you could combine with 15% off and $35 off $400 discount)
{then i tried the dell dj for a bit}
2. 15gb ipod 3G (bought it used, so since it was already scratched up, i didn't have to worry about protecting it, since this was before invisibleshields came out)
3. 40gb ipod by hp 4G (from best buy)
4. 60gb ipod photo (from buy.com since the "new" 5gb ipod photo came out so i got the version with ALL the accessories at a cheap price)
5. 4gb ipod mini (green)
6. 60gb ipod 5G with video (from best buy)
7. 8gb black nano (from forum member)
8. 5gb original ipod (and i mean ORIGINAL, before they had pc-compatible versions, and when there was no mention of capacity on the back because they only made 5gb ipods) and it is currently for sale, since i'm trying to fund my tivo experience
9. 8gb red nano (also from forum member)

i'm thinking that there's another ipod between the 40gb hp one and the 60gb ipod photo, but that could be it.

Too Many!

A 40GB and a 30GB both of which had hard drive failures just over one year after purchase (14 and 15 months respectively).

Jobs & Co. are pretty audacious in what they charge for a (barely) glorified, unreliable hard drive. Hell, you can buy an entire PC for what these clowns are charging for their garbage.

Maybe Jobs & Co. ought to fire 85% of their store staff (they acutally employ some clown to tell me my hard drive died?) and cut the price of their junk by half.

My Motorola phones take magnitudes greater beatings and abuse than either of my iPods ever did, and the phones have kept working flawlessly for more nearly three years.

No more Apple-anything for me.

I have had two so far both crap and broke within one year of having them.

1)First iPod with click wheel 20GB
2) 4GB Nano 2G (Keeps pausing when listening to music :( )

I've owned three that I've used regularly. An iPod nano, iPod shuffle, and now my trusty dusty iPod Photo. I have had many other iPods though since I used to buy broken ones, repair them, and sell them.

I purchased on release the following
1st Gen. iPod (Have it and it still works great)
3rd Gen. iPod (sold)
5th Gen. iPod (current use)
1st Gen. Shuffle (my default memory stick)
2nd Gen. Shuffle (workout)
1st Gen. Nano (nike workout)
iPhone (at least I got a credit back!)

Three, unfortunately: a 4th gen color (gave to sister), a 4th gen mono (sold on eBay), and a 5th gen black (which still works). I don't plan to buy any more. If and when the battery goes on this one, I'll buy a kit and replace it myself.

20 Gb 4th Gen
80 Gb ipod classic
8 Gb 3rd gen ipod nano
16 Gb ipod touch

I got the first ipod from mp3players*****.com. The HDD died in two years and then I got a touch for my birthday. That crapped out in about a month, so I returned it and got a new one and sold that one on eBay. Then bought the classic and nano off ebay and I love those a lot better than the touch.

  • 4th Generation iPod 20 GB
  • 5th Generation iPod 30 GB Black
  • 2nd Generation iPod nano 4 GB Blue
  • 1st Generation iPod touch 16 GB

Geez, are you people ever tough on your iPods! My very first one, a 10GB 2G (with the buttons around the perimeter of the wheel) worked perfectly for five years until the battery finally died last month. A new battery has been ordered, and I fully expect she'll be back in action ASAP. And my second one, a 40GB 3G, is still going strong after almost four years (and one battery replacement.) My first shuffle has literally been through the washer & dryer and it works perfectly. And all of the other half-dozen I've bought over the years are still functioning too. Until reading this thread, I didn't think it was even possible to break an iPod. :apple:
