Lesseeeeee.... since 1985...

This is fun, indeed! :)

Takin' me back, and reminding me of my age! 25 years plus as a Mac guy...probably longer than most of the members here have been alive! (though clearly not some of you!)

1st was actually a Lisa, repackaged in 1985 as a "Macintosh XL". It had a hard disk!!!!!! Unbelievable at the time! 10 MB!!!! WOW! PLUS, a whole MEGABYTE of RAM!
So, including ones I got for my research lab and personal, and my kids and wives (serial, not parallel!):

Mac XL (mentioned above)
Mac Plus (initially w/1 MB RAM and the 10 MB disk that the Mac Plus sat on top of, and eventually maxed out with 4 MB RAM and a 40MB hard drive "backpack" (or some name like that).
...wrote my Ph.D. on the two above... one at home, one at school!
IIci
Powerbook 170
IIcx (several)
7100 (several, including one that ROARED with it's Seagate 2GB Barracuda drive!)
7600 (several)
8600
Powerbook G3 (Wallstreet)
iMac blueberry
iMac DV
iBook tangerine
eMac (several)
iBook white
Powerbook G4 (several)
MacBook black (2)
MacBook Pro (several, from 1st out [Core Duo], thru last non-unibody ["Early 2008"]; the latter is my primary current machine, running at 2.4 GHz and has been upgraded to 5 GB RAM and 500 GB Hybrid hard/solid-state disk from Seagate...thank you, OWC!)

I'm looking forward to getting a new MB (Pro? Air?) when they come out with affordable version with Intel i-series with big SSD and long battery life. They're almost there!

Also, I've been in Smartphone game awhile. Several Palm Treos (from 600 through 755P, mostly replaced after failure by newer models through the Sprint Insurance plan!) ATT doesn't work decently where I am, so for now I have HTC Evo Android w/32GB chip.... love it, but would prefer an iPhone. Perhaps after Tuesday on Verizon??

On iPod, I've just had one: Generation 2, 40 GB.

PowerBook 12" 1.33GHz, 768MB Ram, 64MB VRAM
- I loved this thing; thrashed it to within an inch of it's life

iMac 24" 2.8GHz C2D Extreme, 4GB RAM, 256MB
- this machine was swapped by Apple for 27" later; overheating

Mac mini 2.0GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 9400M 256MB

MBP 13", 2.26GHz C2D, 8GB RAM, 160GB Intel SSD + 160GB HDD (OWC Data Doubler) - This thing is sweet; a blueprint for the next gen MBPs IMHO

iMac 27", Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512MB

Up, up in my studio, studio
The number of Macs I have owned has changed recently, so here's the revised rundown...

Previous:
Apple IIe (used; played around with it for nostalgia purposes, then gave to relative)
2007 iMac 20" 2.0GHz, the first aluminum Intel model

The iMac and a Toshiba laptop were stolen recently, so I've since added:
2010 iMac 21.5" 3.06GHz
2010 MacBook Pro 17"

So now I'm at four, not counting my iPods or other, smaller Apple products.

iMac rev B, Bondi Blue, screen went fuzzy
eMac (ugly!)
PowerMac G5 (last model before Intel, sigh)

Didn't own but used a Mac II+ (I think) back in 1982 in high school. We had 3 of these and the office pinched one. So we had 2 computers for a class of around 40 students. All programming was done on paper prior to typing it all in.

Had friends in university that were diehards on the Mac platform. I was the PC guy back then.

Accidentally rescued a Mac Classic back in 2001 or 2002 but it, along with 2 colour computers, 2 tandy 1000s, 2 c-64, all ended up being recycled (I still cry to this day) as I had to move, no option for storage.

I picked up my first Mac Mini in February 2008, my second one 1-1/2 years ago and picked up the new iMac 21.5" (entry level) last week.

Time to say "buh bye" to my 3 Windows boxes (all very dated).
