i think i'll buy it if they reduce the price slightly of the unsubsidized phone( $100 cheaper maybe)...no way i am going to ATT or getting a data plan...

i am fed up of my nokia right now...

Ah-HA!! You can't afford a iPhone, you are just jealous if Apple do make a 64 GB or bigger iPhone because you won't be able to afford it. Why didn't you just say that in the first place!

Didn't I just say I own a 16GB iPhone? Not to mention I bought my wife her first MBP. So it is safe to say that with my personal business, along with my 15+ year career as a Unix Systems Administrator, my personal finances are perfectly fine, thank you very much, and are none of your concern, let alone any of your business.

But I digress to you. You obviously must know way too much about my personal life, including my finances.

I never asked about your personal life or what jobs you have done and doing. That was just my assumption and you should have just leave it that. But, that's great you told us a little about yourself.

So, again, this is about you telling me or other on how to use our iPhones. You like making playlists and update everyday or whatnot. There are some that just hate doing that and that is why for us we like to have more RAM for the iPhone.

But with your logic, we all should just go back to the 80's and just have 20 MB harddrive and just swap out what we need on the harddrive using a "playlist".

I'll definitely buy it. I have a 3G and didn't upgrade to the 3GS but i think the 4th generation will blow us away. Apple skipped the "blow away" factor with the 3GS and I think they're due this year because of all the android phones that are coming out.

There's your problem. You assumed.

Did I say that people hated doing that? No. Another assumption. My point is that you can always make the best of what you have, instead of always demanding more. A lot of people fail to see that.

I personally have yet to completely fill my iPhone, and I don't see the need to. If you want to, fine. But I'd find it rather funny if there 1) isn't a new iPhone announced this summer, and 2) if there is one, no hard drive space increase. My guess then is that you'd be strapped for it, no?

Your iPhone would run noticeably faster, as it wouldn't need to seek throughout the drive to find what you're looking for. But I guess you know a lot more about seek time, and HD operations than I would..

My Apple IIe worked just fine with 64K of RAM and no HD. 4 different word processors, games up the arse, and I could script up Apple BASIC, Logo, and ProDOS that you wouldn't believe, let alone know anything about.

Then you should also know that the iPhone doesn't have a hard drive, it has a flash drive and flash drives don't get slower if you add more stuff to them.

I'll get a new one depending on how much RAM Apple is going to offer. If they have a 64GB iPhone, I'll buy that, if they have 128GB iPhone, I'll buy that instead. 16GB is just too small.

You mean storage right? The 2G/3G only have 128MB ram, 3GS is 256MB..

But I do hope for more ram, and faster processor so its even faster. The 3GS was a nice improvement, hopefully they don't stop there and just change the outside now.

I currently have a BlackBerry with Verizon but would like to get an iPhone...with Verizon! I've just heard too many negative comments about the service with AT&T (mostly about dropped calls).

There seems to be some speculation that the new iPhone will be compatible with the Verizon system. I hope so as I travel quite a bit and need to have decent coverage. Oh...and can anyone confirm that there will be a new iPhone coming out this summer? Suppose that's just speculation, too ;-)

The Verizon thing will not be happening anytime soon. As for ATT it's all about where you are. Try one and out and see how it works for you. If it's terrible, there's a return policy for just that instance. I can say, ATT has been getting better. I live in Chicago and my service has been better than good. Of course, I don't live in the horror capitals of NY and San Francisco, so I can't speak for them. On my occasions traveling since having the iPhone. Vegas was rather weak, St. Louis was great. Sooooo... long story short test it out for yourself and see if you can be satisfied. Really your local area should be the main concern. All carriers are gonna have weak spots at different points in the country, I don't think you can really plan for that.

You'll be waiting a long time for a Verizon iPhone. AT&T has decent coverage in most places.

I would agree... but /. just ran an article about how that with SSD drives and RAID cause some latency. I'll pull that up when I get the next chance, as MR is blocked at work..

Fingers crossed I will be getting one this summer :)

I will be purchasing the next revision of the iphone. I still have the 3G iphone. I skipped the 3GS model. I hope mine lasts till the new one is released. I've droppped my 3g like 20 times and the back of the phone looks like its been to hell and back. My battery life also stinks.

If it has:

  • A higher res screen
  • FM Radio
  • Updated UI - Really want a calendar & weather widget similar to Android

I'll be the first in line with cash in hand

Bradl you need to confine your ocd and controlling personality to yourself and family.

thanks

I'm pretty much 99% sure I'm buying it.

I really am curious if they'll drop the 16gb, or drop it to a lower price point and make the 32gb the $199 version.
